For anyone reading this, please do not take offense to my concerns, but I was in one of the two fastest AG's last year (30-34) going last and this year I age up to 35-39 which is traditionally the fastest AG.  The concerns I have is over the safety of the racers in that I don't understand why the fastest AG's go last?  While I understand it shortens the gap of everyone to finish, this really makes it unsafe (in my opinion) to all the racers, in particular during the swim and over-crowding during the bike leg as well.  Last year,  I past people in two heats ahead of me, maybe even three.  That's a lot of people that I'm passing (or swimming on top of).

Maybe I'm the only one with this opinion but if there's additional with same concerns, maybe we need to bring this up to MIT for considerations.

Otherwise, I think the administration and planning of the event is one of the best of all races in South Florida.

Happy Training,
Rob

Same thing happened @ Miami Man. Although that was longer race and less people so besides the swim, it didn'y become major issue. I am sure it has something to do with cost of police and time for permits in closing roads etc. Does seem to cause etra risk as you mention though.

I race in 35-39 and am used to going first (after the pros) it seemed for a good reason...to not run people over. it's not a bragging thing just a fact that this AG will be going through the race faster than many others. I don't see the swim being as big a problem as transitions and the bike...even though I passed people 2 groups ahead of me at miami man it wasn't a problem. I don't like this either but I don't think the promoters are too concerned about our opinions

cusetri - 2010-03-02 11:33 AM under 2 weeks to go!

what's the weather like down there?  I know a lot can chance in 2 weeks and probably will, but.........

So far...We have been in between 45o and 50oF early in the mornings...and temps raising to 60oF at noon time...but....sunshine blue sky as usual...very windy lately....Yikes...!!!

I hope the weather warm up a little for the Race...cuz...he last time (2 weeks ago)...we went to do our usual full brick at Key Biscayne on Sunday...the water temp was too cold...I didn't have problem swimming with  my wet-suit...but...just getting outside...brrrrr....my feet and hands were too freacking cold and numb for the rest of the brick (bike/run)...It was painful...and...I didn't feel my feet till I finished...Yikes...!!!

Good Luck!!!

P.S. Hey look at you post numbers...You only have 100 more than me...LOL Funny...!!!

WoooHoool...only 5 days for our first 2010 Traithlon here in South Florida....

We had our last full brick at Key Biscayne last Sunday...and...the water temps were too freacking cold...I think in between 65oF and 70oF....very shocking at the beginning....and....we swam after the bike/run...and...it was a very sunny day...but...at least our feet were not frozen and numb like 2 weeks ago...windy as usual...early in the morning...the winds were coming from NE but then changed to NW...and...the crosswinds going downbridge were stronger as usual...

Hope the weather cooperates for this Weekend...and...remember to change your watch one hour forward the night before the Race...and...Good Luck to Everybody...!!!!

Weather in Tampa and Orlando  since y'day has been challenging, fcast for the weekend isn't too bad.  I seriously hope MIA is in much better shape and that the water isn't all stirred up.

I am seriously considering taking the drive w/ the family.  Are there any BT groups?

That means...that when you go out of transition with your bike...You will have headwinds/crosswinds going to the Rickenbacker Bridge....and...just when...you do the U-turn...and...go again to the bridge and in your way to  Crandon Park...tailwinds/crosswinds....Yahoooooo...!!! but in one point after the Cut Bear Bridge just after you pass the Marina...You will have again some headwinds till the U-turn in Crandon Park...and...again tailwinds...till the same point that I mentioned before...the Cut Bear Bridge...headwinds/crosswinds...and...when you turn right to Virgina Key...tailwinds/crosswinds...till the U-turn....headwinds/crosswinds...and repeat...Uffff...LOL

Hope this helps you...LOL
