Okay - signed up for 100 miles of running this month.  Will I still love running when Feb. is over?

Wow!!!  I hope you still love running!

Hello fellow Hearts.  I have biking for my "love" because I am learning to love biking.  Even though I live in Sunny Southern California, most of my bike rides are trainer rides.  I take for mileage whatever my bike computer says, even though I can never achieve those miles per hour on the road.  But then again, I work a whole lot harder on my trainer than on the road and I can't figure out how to translate trainer intensity to road work.

I got in 309 miles in January, but will need to increase that because I have a HIM at the end of March.  On the other hand, I have a HM one weekend, will be in Texas the next weekend, biking the following weekend, and in Northern California the last weekend of the month.  Ouch.  When am I supposed to get in long rides in February???   I think I will need to aim for quality over quantity.  I am putting myself down for 300 miles.

And by the way, I asked to be put on the winning team and here I am with you Hearts.  I won't let you down.

Hey fellow challengoholic mates.

My name is Travis.  I recognize some names in here.  I have lost count of how many challenges, races, etc I have done at this point.  Here's to another successful challenge as I get my first challenge win of 2010 since I was injured for the January challenge.

enkidu87 - 2010-01-31 2:26 PM Hi, my name is Laura and this is my first challenge.  I am attempting to complete an Ironman Challenge, completing the iron man distances in my training throughout the month of February.  112 mile bike seems the hardest (especially in February in Illinois but I will count trainer miles) so this is my <3 goal.  I look forward to us winning this challenge, can't wait to add a win to my tag line

Awesome idea!

Yeah, a lady in my mentor group suggested the idea.  the Y in her town does it and they even have t-shirts for people who complete it.  Sounded like a great idea for our group.  I'm just hoping that having biking as my <3 challenge will get me to that 112 goal.

Good morning Hearts!
I ran 26 minutes today, with no walk breaks. That is the longest I've run in over a year!

Hi team. I am recovering from a nasty stomach bug that has had me laid out for the last 24 hours. I won't be running today. Never fear, I expect to be back in the thick of things tomorrow.

Cheers all and good luck to Team Hearts.

Good morning, Hearts!  Happy 1st of February!

This weekend, I got everything set up for this month's challenge.  My goal is biking, but I'm not very good so I don't want to ride outdoors in icy conditions!  So I'm borrowing a trainer from a friend (he's coming off an injury and hasn't used his trainer in forever, so he's letting me borrow it to see if I like it).  He came over on Saturday to set everything up and show me how to use it.  I realized I don't have a bike pump since I mooched off of my friends last summer, so yesterday I ended up buying one and inflated my tires.

Mondays I lift with a friend, so I doubt I'll get any of my LOVE goal done today. . . However, I think I'll install this speed/cadence sensor I got for Christmas so that when I DO start hitting that goal, I'll get a sense of how fast/hard I'm going Smile

Hello fellow Californian!  I'm up in the rainy north.  Well, you've been pretty rainy this winter, too.

When I ride on the trainer, I just use a reasonable average of my outdoor rides for speed and distance.  It all works out in the end.

Are you doing the 70.3 in Oceanside?  That's where I grew up!  You better be ready for the hills on the bike route!

I'm sure you'll like the trainer.  A cadence sensor is a wonderful tool.  The speed sensor while on a trainer is misleading, though.  It usually indicates that you are going a lot faster than you would be going outside.  I just use a reasonable estimate of MPH to calculate the distance I traveled on the trainer.  I would hate to be shocked at how slow I was going when I finally get on the road after being on the trainer for awhile!

Alright.  Enough post padding for now.  I'll be jumping on my trainer later today.  No, it's not my love sport.  I ran 8 yesterday.  I'll run tomorrow.  Cheers!

Hello Hearts.  I'm Kendra.  I've been around for a few years doing these challenges.  Took the last two months off though and now it is time to get off my butt and back to training.

I'm a wife, mother to two, grandmother to four, caretaker of three cats.  Love to read so I'm a librarian.  I did my first three tri's in 2007, took 2008 off for injury, did two last year in 2009 and I'm hoping to do my first oly length tri this year.
