On mine it only shows once I'm in the thread, not as the topic listed on the main page...But I agree - that is mean!!!

Have we gotten an answer on how the actual announcement is expected to take place? I mean, besides TJ posting here

for as much doubt as I had about this ever occuring,  I do think it's a great thing.  I was thinking of st george in the spring or after spectating at cozumel this year doing it next year.  but  I will be signing up for the TX IM ..

 I'm totally sincere in hoping this happens.. and will sign up for it.  It just  since there have been so many rumors for so long though...it  makes the cynic part of me think that I'm just getting my hopes up again, only to be crushed. .. again..
Plus from the people that I"ve met that really, really want this to be true. I want it to happen for them also since they are really emotionally invested in this happening.

I guess the main thing is we do have a lot of great races in Texas, but it would be a feather in the cap so to speak if one was a full IM.

Triathlon is a very popular sport in TX, when I was on Trifind the other day I noticed only FL had more events listed than TX...  It would be great to have a full IM here...

I've heard 5/16 is the announcement date.  I really hope this pans out due to my IM st george fiasco.. plus its a local race!

According to the "other site" the course has been approved by TxDot and they are now hammering out the date; two dates that were being considered already have events in town, so the proposed host hotel is not available; the post also says the announcement has been pushed back to June. 

Who knows...I guess in time we will either get a great announcement, or we won't.  Until then, we can just keep bumping this thread for the sport of it.

do you know if there was any mention of the course TxDOT approved?  i was debating with the wife just last night which direction the bike course would go where TxDOT would have the least amt of obstacles.  she said west, i said north/northwest or east.

thanks.   there are railroad tracks everywhere, mostly to the west and north, but also to the east.  o-whell.

A one loop course going north and using some of the Ironstar course is what most have been saying.

Just to keep the rumor mill churning and keep this thread at the top of the page, my friend emailed a local reporter for kprc.com last week and after a few emails back and forth, this the latest response he received:

"I'm thinking that the rumors might be true. No one is confirming anything. But no one has said no either"
