They may be the best athletes out there, but are not the winners. Sandra is like the athlete who arrives at the finish line last, but gets proclaimed the winner by the field, who didn't like being passed by the faster athletes. |

She worked her social game understanding how people think unlike Russell. Parvati's only problem was she gave the impression she was under Russell’s wing too much. I think Parvati played a better game but I fully understand why Sandra won. |

Champion 10019 , Minnesota | Subject: RE: Survivor 5-16 SPOILERS I don't see what was so nasty and snaky about Parvati. I think she found joy in everything they did and she's just built for Survivor. She never seemed angry, she even laughed (like a normal person) in the final maze challenge when she was caught up with Russell. Unless she's a psychopath and I'm totally snowed, I thought she was the most balanced of them all. And as she said, she had no other option than to befriend Russell and she used him cleverly while not completely alienating herself. Sandra was, imho, lucky. She got to the end by accident and then said "Hey, I am going to use the fact that I survived as the weakest lack-o-threat as my argument." If it weren't for stupid Russell, she wouldn't have fared so well in comparison. I love that Russell was screwed again. As one of the girls on the jury said, his "jury management skills" were lacking. Too true. I think the jury was a little softer than I had hoped and that at least a few would appreciate his efforts, but in the end he got what he deserved. |

I think I can safely say just about every chick looked better on the island compared to off the island. Dial down the makeup ladies! On a serious tip, Russell is by far the most entertaining player in the history of this game. I did just wanna grab him by the neck and shake some sense into him. He succeeded in alienating just about every single player. Great season. btw, anybody notice the irony in the cross hanging on Russell's neck? It actually had 2 crosses...literally a "double-cross!" How appropriate. Agreed. Amanda looks way better without the 8# of makeup Stephanie looks like Uncle Leo in the Seinfeld Episode with the chart where Elaine draws the eyebrows on with a sharpie. Tyson summed it up earlier in the season in an interview that the name of the game is to cut throats but to do so with finesse. Rob also made a great point that Russell plays to get to the finals and not to win. He is 0-2 now having been in the finals twice. I think Parvati got screwed with the guilt by association. Even though she was really controlling a good portion of the game Russell was so hated by the jury she suffered. Once again the coattail rider wins like Natalie last season. |

She worked her social game understanding how people think unlike Russell. Parvati's only problem was she gave the impression she was under Russell’s wing too much. I think Parvati played a better game but I fully understand why Sandra won. Agreed. She should have taken the chance to cut Russell when she had the chance and make it her game. She did that in Fans VS. Favs when she did and deserved to win. She took it from Russell when he voted out Danielle. That was when you know she was beaten by him. I think she played a good game but she was just Russell's underling. Sandra said in the jury that she tried 3 times to get rid of Russell but she never did vote against him so I think she was lying. It was a good season but no big moves were made. Fans VS Faves was much better. Had Cerie and Rob been there longer this would have been much different. |

Subject: RE: Survivor 5-16 SPOILERS Wow, what a bunch of whiners. As Probst said, this game the jury votes. And has voted for Sandra twice. Whether she "deserved" it is irrelevant. She "got" it, which is the point of the game. Can't compare it to tris or most other "competitions" since this is, in reality, a personality contest. Sandra 2, Russell 0 Russell was entertaining, and I'd watch him play the game any day, but his hubris was his downfall. He doesn't have the complete game to win Survivor. |

Hopefully you are not calling all those disagreeing with the "winner" whiners...just because we disagree with the result...a very broad brush...but apparently you are ok with undeserving winners - in which case we are in disagreement. Winning should be deserved and earned not "granted" Survivor's jury is like any other sport that is judged to get a result...a fair amount of the time the supposed winner is subject to debate - hence the reason I avoided those sports in my competitive days and try to avoid them now in my viewing years |

ETA - HA, I love backhanded insults on BT. Sandra won. The jury felt she deserved it. Therefore, she desrved it. Champion 6056 Menomonee Falls, WI | Subject: RE: Survivor 5-16 SPOILERS As someone else said, it's not about hating the players, it's about hating that aspect of the game. It's a huge flaw that allows players that just skate by doing next to nothing to win. I didn't necessarily want Russell to win so much as I didn't think Sandra should have won. It's like the two best teams in the NFL (say, the Packers and some AFC team) reaching the Superbowl, but the Cowboys being VOTED the World Champions... it's just something that leaves a bad taste in the mouth. And it makes the game less worth watching. |

No offense, but there is no vote in a football game, dem's not the rules, so to say "it's like that" is a non sequitur. Why is Survivor not, in the end, a popularity contest? That's exactly what it is. And you win by either being the most popular, or the least hated. IMHO, it's not a "flaw" in the game, it is the very game. That's why it was set up that way, so that people you voted off now control your destiny. It's not only not a flaw, it's a brilliant idea on Burnett's part. Well, I've spent enough time debating the finer points of a television game show, off to the rest of Monday Go Lakers! |

Elite 3395 Raleigh | Subject: RE: Survivor 5-16 SPOILERS While I am not a big Sandra (S) fan I can make an argument for her win over Russell (R) and Pavarti (P). First R and P were never NOT in a dominant or equal position. S's alliance was slowly eaten away, so she had to scrampble more than they did. She had to make herself seem like a useful pawn and not too big a threat to them. R and P had the numbers most of the time. Jerri played a similar game to S, just dumber. If you win a lot of challenges you are seen as a threat so that is part of outwitting the others. It would have been more interesting if S had managed to get the heros to unite against R, but then she probably would not have made it to the final 3 and then won. Part of deserving to win Survivor is to get to the end and have a reason for the jury to vote for you. Pavarti did that with Danielle, but not with the enough others.BTW: Why did R not argue that he was the only one in the final 3 that had never won. P and S had their $ he deserved his own. That would have been better than what he DID say. |
