I signed up:

9 swim sessions: Every Monday & Saturday in October.  I've been struggling to get to the pool.  I need to be there at least twice per week..

186 pullups: 6 pullups per day for 31 days.  Just gotta do it - my pullup bar is getting dusty!

Gee thanks, Bill.  Now I have to stop procrastinating and officially set my goals for October.Wink

I was going to bike and run, but I think I may make core/strength and running my two goals.  I know that regardless of the challenge I will bike next month.  My trainer time = my only tv time!  But I am the world's greatest running procrastinator and my belly is such a mess my daughter actually asked me why I looked like I was having another baby.  Sigh...

I set my goals earlier today but I think I may have jumped the gun. My September totals might be a little higher than I calculated and I'm wondering if I'm allowed to go back to the spreadsheet on September 30 or October 1 and increase my goals. I will only make it more challenging for myself!

Hey Rhoda.  Don't sweat it - I am guilty as well.

I am going to do 2 strange ones.  I like the one guy that is doing 6 pullups a day - I want to do something that I normally don't do.  I always ride/swim so I need to think of something odd.

Been back to the Buff lately???

Yeah, the the pullups goal is pretty cool.  Maybe that's what I need to get motivated again...  Something different and cool.  I need more imagination and creativity in my workouts!

My hubby and I are both in a weight loss competition right now (up to Thanksgiving)...  the weekly punishment for losing is having to clean out the litter box for the week.  We're still negotiating the final "prize".  Tongue out

Haven't been back to Buffalo since the spring... both of my kids get carsick and so I just dread the dive out there.  My one daughter pukes everytime we get to the Batavia exit.  I was going to have my hubby take me to a fb game but that's just too depressing this season...  we may not make it back out until Easter or my brother's wedding next summer.  Frown

I really like the pull ups idea and it got me thinking about what else I could put instead of generic strength train x sessions. Two that I am considering switching before the deadline are push ups # or dolphin plank pose minutes.

I'm in. Been away from the challenges for months but decided to do a 12 mile mudder thing so need to make sure I get in my running and I also haven't hit the weights since spring!

Going for 75 running miles and 8 strength training. I'll log it on the sheet later.

13 bike and 13 run sessions for me.  Need to get back into the routine of 3 running and 3 biking sessions a week and since I'm trying to start running basically from scratch again to see if i can get my shin splints under control I'm really not sure how many miles I'll cover this month.  This challenge should be even more motivation for me to run 3 times a week as I already have promised myself that if I run consistently this month, I'm going to buy Nike+ to go with my new Nike shoes

Alright, I did the calculations more carefully this time and have my final challenge goals. In September I ran approximately 57km, and I have set 70km as my goal for October. I was going to put strength training as my other category but I thought it would be more interesting to put something specific. I chose dolphin plank pose, although I also wanted to include push ups.

I tested myself today and was able to do 25 seconds of dolphin plank pose with proper form. Based on this I chose to make 2 hours of this pose my second goal for October, which means about 4 minutes per day. Let's see how I've improved by the end of the month! My goal is that I'll be able to hold it for 2 minutes by the end of October.

I'm not including this in the challenge but I want to share because it's a personal challenge of the month to work on alongside run and plank - push-ups. I tested myself and completed 6 of the most feeble modified push-ups ever seen. From the knees, I completed 6 but I can't even get my shoulders in line with my elbows. The plank goal will help with this, as will completing 600 push-ups this month. I'll be using a variety of positions and including dumbbell flys and chest press. My goal is to be able to do 5 proper (all of the way down) modified push-ups by the end of the month.

wgraves7582 - 2010-09-29 9:35 AM Well I am going to give props to whoever put the pullups in because I am more excited for this challenge than I have been in a long time.

It got real boring (for me and don't take it personal) saying oh I will run/ride/swim this many times this month or this many miles.

I need to challenge the body and the commuting (mental) and push/pull ups will do it.  ETA - I just wish I could show more pushups because I want to do 300 pullups and 900 push ups this month.  I guess I could just go with 1200 total and track both

I was going to try for 100 push ups, but now I see you want to do 900 I think I'll have to come up with something else.

It is only 30 a day.  I usually do 2 sets of 15 while stretching at night out of boredom.  This will make sure I stretch more regularly and would like to hit 30 straight - which I could do if I forced myself to but usually just stop at 15 and rest and stretch some more.

For a girl who has broken more bones in my upper body than I can count, and has permanent nerve damage throughout her body, I think 100 is a good number to shoot for. I really like the idea of doing something different this month.

Wow.  Coming back at me strong...

OK - all in: 300 pullups & 900 pushups = 1200 Total (:gulp:!)  plus my 9 swims.....

10 pullups & 30 push-ups each and every day in October.  I like it!

giddy-up!!!

Is it acceptable to share this challenge spreadsheet with myself, or is it bad form to modify a spreadsheet I didn't create??

I'd like to use it while logged into my current google account, without having to log out, and then re-log in using the btchallenge credentials.

I posted my goals.  I will post 13 run/13 strength.  13 is in honor of the spooky month.  13 runs will be a stretch for me this month with my schedule.
