Well bummer...

I dislocated my shoulder on Dec 30 and finally got in to see an ortho and a PT this week. Rehabbing it up for the next month still. I can manage a credible breast stroke still and can stay on my bike for 2 hours but this is really putting a cramp in my desires to get a PB this year.

Any one deal with a dislocation before? Got words of advice?

It is mid-March - two months b-fore the race...

I had a bike crash (due to stupidity) 10 days ago and am focusing on running while healing.  I am concerned I wont have enough swimming under my belt this early in the yr.  I am trying to get back on the saddle ASAP.  Other than the swim, I am happy with mileage done.  Ramping up my long run brick.

How's everyone else doing?

Best of luck to everyone doing Fla 70.3 this year. It was my first 70.3 back in 2008. Brutal RUN, get out and run on trails in the heat to get ready for this one....the swim and bike are cake, then the beatdown starts on the run...pace yourself and hydrate on the bike because the race starts at mile 6 of the run....enjoy

For those of you who've done this race before, do you remember how windy does it get in the bike portion?  Just trying to find out if a rear disc is recommended for this course.

I'll be in town for a conference and I  decided to sign up for this race - So  looking forward to it!

Thank you

Random question, but can anyone recommend a spa in the area that my girlfriend and I can go to after I finish the race while hubbies go play golf (strangely the hotel we are staying in doesn't have one).  I reckon I will be in need of a massage, some jacuzzi time and some girl time after the long slog, although this is my first HIM who knows how I will be feeling!

Massage Envy Spa Winter Garden

This is about 20 minutes North of the Disney Property in a nice shoppin area.  Very easy to get to by getting on Hwy 429.

Wow, only a month away and this thread is pretty dead.  Maybe everyone is focusing on other races.

I've got St A's, 2 weeks off, then Florida 70.3, then 6 week off, then IMcDA.  Gonna be a tough next 2 months.

Guys, have done this one twice. Let me know if anyone has any questions about course, hotels, etc.
Not my fastest 70.3 but was my first and enjoyed the beatdown on that run course...twice.

I hope M30-34 is not the last wave again.  I am coming from Chicago and we have had zero days of warm weather.  The earlier I start the better so I won't get stuck out there baking in the sun as much.

I am getting excited for the race and a vacation all in one.  I am coming down with 12 people from our local tri club and we rented a house to stay in.

Is the entire run really bad or just the part through the grass?  How long is the grass section next to the canal?  Thanks

Tri Ryan, the crappy section is about 9 miles total of the 13.1. Its only the section on the canel rds. Dirt truck paths that are rutted and only about 10ft wide with 2-way traffic and full sun. Be ready for it or it will crush your day.

Thanks for the heads up and I am not happy.  That heat is going to be brutal for me!  At least now I can start to mentally prepare for it.

at least you wont be wearing hot pink, and the run course will an hour more hot and steamy. but, all of the pros will knock the thigh high grass down.

im not racing FL again this year, but if i were, i have aged up and M35-39 is sporting the neon pink this year...

Matthew Russell did (the pro wave of?) Florida 70.3 last year. Here is his race report. Echos The Cube - the run is more like a slog. Between that and the heat/humidity, maybe this wasn't the best choice for my first HIM!
