badgerintx - 2011-01-03 4:39 PM Alright Donks (you too Suzy).... after working out my race schedule for 2011 today, I just confirmed my "A-race" for the year, and Racine 70.3 is it.

Should be fun, we definitely will need to get some course work in before race day!!!  I lead a preview ride last year a couple of weekends before the race, but I understand they may be changing the bike course a little for this years race.

Now back to training......

I believe I actually lead the first preview ride up there last year...ha ha!

YAAA! Glad to have you aboard! I MUST MUST MUST do better than last year!

I plan on riding/swimming the course a lot! I also am looking for a bit of redemption! Miami, I think we met on that ride?
And Dave, the ride with you was brutal! Definitely looking forward to more fun times!

Wait...I think I remember that ride...I couldn't make it.  Was that the one where you guys got caught in the rain or something?

I am VERY much looking forward to spending most of my June/July weekends up in Wisconsin again...just like last year!

I know I'll get the training done, that's not what has me worried...I MUST figure out the nutritional aspect of it...that's what killed me last year...I'm actually obsessing over it at times...

Heres to actually training for it this year!!!

Last year...I had a knee injury that hurt me for 2-3 weeks in April-early may then final wedding preparations and the wedding lost me another 2 weeks.  Honeymoon in Mexico was another week of no real training, followed by e.coli for another week.

Finally...the wsop in vegas for 5 days beginning of last July for another little vacation.

Long story short: I had zero swims over 3/4th mile, zero rides over 25 miles, and zero outdoor runs over 6 miles for final two months. I will take my mid 5hour with lack of training and low 5 this year with training.

We are going to Mexico this weekend, this statement scares me.

I'm in!  This will be my third HIM.  I had plantar facitis after the Florida 70.3 last May and basically just started back to running 3 weeks ago.  I am ready!  I had nutrition issues during my last race and the biggest thing I am going to do differently this time is experiment food during training.

Anyone who is a Racine/Wisconsin native interested in scouting out a good place for a pre-race BT get-together?

You are right, it went just fine. We went to Puerta Vallarta last year, Cancun a couple years earlier. Decided to try Playa Del Carmen this year. Really nice, a little too 'touristy" but all in all it was great to get away from the snow and cold. March will be a nice time to go.

I know it's early to schedule, but I am looking at a trip on the bike course during Memorial Day weekend. Now that I don't live in Milwaukee these trips are going to take a bit more planning. Anyone else think that would be a good weekend for some group training?

Depending on what the weather is...count me in! Wonder if the "new" course will  be on the website by then? If not, we can just bike old course?

Signed up for #2...

Hotel go-ers try the Microtel on Durand.  Normally cheaper than the HWY 20/ Interstate stuff.

I'll ride the course pretty regular May and June.  Look forward to meeting up this year.

I own a bar on the corner of 6th and main.  Its just blocks from the check - in.  I'd be happy to put something together if there's interest.

My nutrition issues are solved.  I have a Girl Scout and a Brownie in the house and due to the intense pressure and competitive salesmenship I ordered 10 boxes.  I think the mainstay of my nutrition for this race is going to be Do-Si-Dos!!

How is everyone's training going? The nasty weather is making it tough to get outside and run, plus I was sick last week.  Swim and bike today.

Training....well I am planning on eating two Do-si-do cookies before the swim and then one or two in transition, with plenty of gatorade to wash the peanut butter down, then on the bike....

Oh you mean TRAINING as in swim-bike- run...

I have been half-heartedly doing this cardio "base building" program for about 4 weeks.  This is the last week and it is a recovery week.  I am starting my "real" training program next week, which starts with more base building but I am going to do it like I mean it!

Thankfully, I can say I haven't been sick (knock on wood), but I can't say that I've been enjoying the weather either.  It seems every scheduled run day is either snowing or very cold and I find myself on that mad torture running device in my basement..  My goal is to get outside tomorrow!

Packers are proving to be a great distraction on my training every Sunday, just look at my logs!

My 16 week marathon training plan was just shortened to 13 weeks with the Pack winning the NFC and going to the Superbowl.

Long run Sundays... nope
