GOOD FOR YOU!!!

Now that you've dedicated yourself to change, things will start to unfold in cool and mysterious ways. Serendipity favors the courageous.

Sorry if I sound whacked out and mystical--sleep deprivation.

Wow, Haley.  That is a very bold step.  I applaud you for having the courage that so many of us don't.

I hope you find a job (that you enjoy) quickly down in TX and can get settled into the next chapter of your adventures.

It's all already been said, but GOOD LUCK! You're a strong person for having the cajones to do this, so rest assured someone will see that in you and want you on their team. You'll be on your feet in no time.

Can you put queen of BT forums on your resume? (well, at least you WERE until you started putting that man a$$ on your avatar.)

Serious courage, Haley, and I'm proud of ya.  Life is just way too short to stay somewhere that you are miserable.  Good luck finding the perfect job here in Texas, and if there is anything I can do to help, let me know!

Way to go, Haley!  I'm sure this is scary as hell for you but I know you'll make a great life for yourself wherever you go.  Anyone who can take on the challenges you have (at least the ones we've observed here on BT) and come out successful, smiling, and only mildly injured is destined for a great life regardless of the ups and downs.  Best of luck to you in Texas.

Tom

PS - I second the thumbs down on the man a$$.  Can't we get something of you in diapers or some other goofy costume?

Well, I've got no idea where the road will take you, but I'm pretty sure you could bike or run down it, depending on the training plan.

Thanks! Very clever, I don't know how I haven't seriously injured myself being the clutz that I am.

Alright, I'll think about a change for a bit, but this one is staying in my rotation.

HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY....If you don't find your first choice preferred job right away, don't forget that I have a family member who is a bigwig at Texas Wings (a.k.a. Hooters) so if you want to be a Hooter Girl, I'll hook you up.  I bet you'd have quite a customer base of Texas stalkers BTers

Interesting tidbit of info:

977 miles to Austin from Atlanta (by way of NOLA, of course).  Metairie is at Mile 475, almost halfway.  Sounds like a good stop-over point to us!    I'm looking forward to having you nearby to do some more drinking racing!

Seriously, congrats on the big decision!  It's not until you finally walk away and look back on all this to realize how good of a decision this is for you.   YOU ROCK!!!

As many of you know I've been unhappy with my job for months now and have been wanting to move.  I started thinking about moving last summer but the hurricanes in Aug. and Sept. (mom in New Orleans, dad in south Houston) really made me realize that I am too far away from my family and anything can happen to them at anytime. Why stay here? I have no family here and a job that sucks and its not a career path I want to be on (even though I have tons of BT time). I want to go back to school and there is no point in going here. I miss Texas terribly and want to go back.  There was also a BTer several months ago who quit his job and took a huge cut in pay because he was unhappy. I thank him for giving me more courage to leave without something definite lined up.

It was either quit now and move or wait until later in the year, as Lake Placid is in July and I don't want to move in the middle of training for that and I can't bear to be here until Aug. I originally wanted to put in my resignation in Janurary but I was holding out to have a job lined up. So before you ask; I'd love to live in Austin, but so does everyone else so the job search has expanded to the 3 major metros of the state. I don't know where I want to live and need to decide on schools. I don't know when I'll find a job, but my last day of work here in Atlanta is March 9, and I'll be gone by the 15th at the latest.

I'm excited and know the risks involved. If I don't get a great job, fine. If I get a job that doesn't make enough, I'll get 2. Moving, establishing residency for school and looking to move forward is what I'm doing.

Where will the road take me? Who knows but it'll be a great time getting there.

so your moving closer to me huh..... jk

i wish you the best of luck!

I Think you made a very smart decision.  If you aren't happy with your work situation you should definitely make the move.  THis is the time in your life to do it; before the mortgage and kids creep in- best of luck to you.  I know you will succeed.  Just don't wait around push yourself that much harder to make this next phase in your life work.
