If anyone wants to learn a bit more about physics I would suggest looking up the Richard Feyman lectures on Youtube.     He can explain physics beautifully and in layman's terms.   The man speaks eloquently.

Physics, mathematics, and language make the world go 'round.....   CoolInnocent

Surely you're joking!

Heisenberg is uncertain.

When you say "layman", it appears that you are excluding Ironman finishing golf professionals who tested in the "gifted' range on IQ tests before his collegiate binge-drinking days.

I would also highly recommend Walter Lewin's lectures (which are simply awesome!) and his book, For the Love of Physics.

I really wish I had those brain cells back.

After nuke school I stayed pretty interested, but simple nuclear physics is about as far as I go. QM and sub-atomic particle physics sort of looses me. I just expect them to continue to find infinitely smaller particles the same way we continue to find the Cosmos infinietly large. At some point they become one in the same and here we are.

Unlike the number of stars in the sky or the number of angles that can fit on the head of a pin, our number of brain cells is finite.     Slay them and weep.....

Think of it more like culling the herd of the weak ones so the strong have more to work with!!!

Higgs Boson goes into a Catholic church.
The priest says, "You're not welcome here."
Higgs Boson says "You can't have mass without me."

Not my creations in the least, but still: Higgs Boson jokes...

If we can control the Higgs field then we can really build Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Discovery of Higgs boson a blow to Bravo's upcoming reality show America's Next Top Standard Model.

"Yo mama's so fat, she tore a hole in the Higgs field!"

...and my GF said that if CERN can find the Higgs Boson, then why can't I find her...oh, nevermind.
