rbalazs - 2012-07-13 3:04 PM I am in and making another run at Kona. I've got lots of work to do and the planning and training have started. No specific IM build yet but I'll be at a constant 12-15 hours through the winter and then the fun really starts in Feb.

We can keep each other accountable this winter! Different AGs, same goal.

There's also eels

What's a grom?

A young or kid surfer, and I haven't seen to many eels in NC...have you ever seen some of those big old catfish in lakes? They look like prehistoric creatures from the deep...I would rather do a salt water swim any day.

Sounds good. We can watch each other. I'm not sure if it's easier to qualify the 1st time or the 2nd time? Now that I know what it takes to get there the hardest part for me will be to actually wrap my head around all the required training.

The mental aspect of training has A LOT to do with training no matter what your IM goals are.

Hey I want to start a FB group... message me your FB URL if you want to be added, it's gonna be a closed group for CDA BT participants (and maybe we want to invite other people we know to it who are also participating, but all members are either a BT member or friends with a BT member and participating).

I'M IN for CDA 2013 - This will be IM #3, - #1 IM St George this year (what a day), #2 still to come (Bear Lake BrawL 140.6). KQ is on the bucket list but there are some amazing racers in my AG (M40-44). May have to wait til everyone in my AG quits competing or starts to die off Smile.

DEB, the before/after photos are UNREAL. Congrats - That is quite inspiring -

I'm back for more at CDA as well. I had the unfortunate distinction of being the first finisher in 2012 - first finisher to cross the swim timing mat AFTER the 2:20 cutoff! (And no there are no official stats for that - they turn the timing off - so if you look - you'll only see my first lap time!)

I have one completed IM under my belt - Rev3 Full Rev Cedar Point in 2010 - will be back with a vengeance in CDA for 2013.

For those looking for places to stay - for 2012 I stayed at Arrow Point Resorts - absolutely beautiful - but it's quite a drive. The map may say it's about 15 miles - but it's mountain switchbacks. I think the quickest we made it into town was about 35 minutes.

Thanks Cod

Anyone know how to create a FB closed group without having to friend all the members?  (not that I mind....) but a Fan page would be joinable by everyone and it seems now to add people to a closed group you create they have to be friends first.

We're practically neighbors - I'm right across the border in Hauser Lake.  I do a lot of my training out of the Liberty Lake Athletic club since I work just down the street.

I'm at Liberty Lake too. Have you heard about the Sat. morning spin class that Mike does starting in Jan/Feb. 2-3 hours. Hopefully he'll do it again this winter. Probably be seeing you in there when it becomes our second home here in a few months.

Hadn't heard about the spin class... thanks. I plan on joining the masters swim class in August. Hate the thought of moving back indoors, but the summer is flying by and in a couple of months we'll have no other options for swimming and biking.

Spokane is pretty much your only option for an airport. It is about a 40 minute drive from the airport to the race site in Cd'A - a straight shot on the Interstate 90 freeway.  The only other option would be to fly into Seattle, but that would be close to a 6 hour drive on Interstate 90.

If you have an RV or some type of camper I highly recommend staying here...

http://www.idahorvpark.com/

Did CdA this year as my first Ironman and stayed here.  It was clean, nice, had some shade, and only 1.5 miles from swim start.  Not to mention the $40 a night it cost.  Great savings!  And the RV park is filled with other athletes and is actually on the bike course, just as you head out Hwy 95.  If you have family it's a great place for them to hang out while you are out on the bike portion.

I haven't reserved a room yet   Anything close to race site, cheap, and that you can reserve without pre-paying for it?

I'm in. This will be my third iron-distance (IM CDA, Silverman, and IMC). I'll be going with a great group of friends, so I'm really looking forward to this one.

Depends on your definition of cheap...

Most hotels downtown appear to be at or near capacity - or are charging pretty high rates. I've seen some things north of the Interstate which have been cheaper - that's a short drive as compared to a short walk. We found a house to rent which only needed a $250 deposit (there's five in our group - including three teens...)

Any of you Idaho folks know how far away Blanchard is from the race?  It looks like it is just north of Hayden Lake.

I'm in as well.  This will be my second full IM.  First was IM Louisville in 2011.  I volunteered at the finish this year in CDA and had a blast.    Can't wait to go back and race!

Just FYI for those looking for lodging, I found a room in CDA about two weeks out from the event this year b/c a lot of folks canceled.  I don't like chancing it when I'm competing, but if you want to book something in Spokane or a little further out that you can cancel later on if you find a better option in town, it's not a bad way to go.   I booked a house through VRBO for next year.  Looking forward to coming up early and getting acclimated to the cold waters of the lake.

It's about 35 miles.  If you go west on Interstate 90 from Coeur d'Alene, and then go North on Highway 41, it would probably take about 45 minutes.

Thanks.  I have access to  A TIME SHARE AND I'm debating using it.  The other option is Hope, Id, but that looks even further away.
