Put me down for 105.  I am Mary training planless so I think this will be the encouragement  to get out of bed in the morning and lace up the shoes.

"I'll be your Huckleberry ..." (great line out of Wyatt Earp)

Just read Vortmax's challenge thing and believe is the perfect opportunity to deviate from my training plan and add some extra miles.

I am at the beginning of my 20 week (FIRST 3x/week) marathon training program, so the prescribed volume is low -- even still, I'll sign up for 100 for the month ... which is double the volume of last month.

Yeah, that's right ....... I had thought it was Wyatt Earp. I knew who was in it, just couldn't remember the name of the movie.

You're right Wookiee, still a great flick!

And thread related .......... 15.2 miles down, 134.8 to go ........ ugh!

Okay, so what's the deal here?  Inidividual challenge or group?  I personally do better  and work harder as part of a team.   June bike challenge was girls vs. guys.  ALWAYS a fun challenge.

<sigh>  I'm going to have to pull out of this challenge...Physically, I don't think I can survive both the 100 mile run challenge and the 400 mile bike challenge.  I only ran around 25 miles in June - so to up it to 100 will break all smart training rules and most likely I'll reinjure myself  - because if I stay in - I will get in those 100 miles come hell or high water...  I think a smarter plan for me is to go for 50 miles in July (doubling Junes numbers), and this isn't the 50 mile + club.

Thanks for letting me in...and I'll be following everyone pretty close...come August, I'll shift focus and concentrate on my running - so if there is another challenge then - I'll be in.

You've got to do what you've got to bunny. The goal is to increase the mileage and motivate people to get out there, not to kill themselves trying to meet a tough goal! Definitely focus your efforts where they are needed to keep you in line for your goals and stay motivated!

It is meant as an individual thing tnickerson. One of those push yourself deals.

At this point I may already be out of it ....... I've had two really bad runs where I've actually walked parts of them. This is not a good sign as I'm pretty sure I'm overtrained and pushed it too hard in the beginning of the year. We'll see at the end of this week.

Daremo
Just ease back a bit. Remember you just cranked out a half ironman and then you followed that up with a time trial shortly there after. Throw in the fact that the heat and humidity are back in full force and its no wonder you feel a bit run down. Take a easy week and scale back on your runs. Also leave the watch at home and take your time and just try and enjoy the trip.
Considering this is the 100+ mile club and you are gunning for 150, you are allowed a little slack.

As a review, when should we report mileage? Weekly? Daily (or close to daily)?

Hi all! I'm brand new to the site and just wanted to say how encouraging this thread(and many other threads) is! I've done a couple of Sprints in the past, and starting back up again (Danskin this weekend-starting to freak out), but SO out of shape, and feel a bit demoralized... But seeing your 100+ mile goals makes me ready to put my butt in gear! I think you are all nuts-but good nuts- and incredibly awesome for doing such high (in my universe) mileage.... I'll be totally happy if I put in 70 miles this month.

You guys totally rock! WOW!

I need to start my NYC marathong training and get my running miles back up there.
