Master 1240 Knightdale/Raleigh | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread TriAya - 2007-07-05 8:16 PM Jackie, thanks for the avatar advice. Josh, Photoshop made me a very nice BW jersey ... too bad it also made me give myself a bad haircut! Kinda like the ghetto feel of it, though ... like Barloworld itself. Well I look really amature now! I had tried to post my new avatar last night, but it didn't work. After seeing the ctrl + F5 advice, I pressed it, and bam... instant embarassingly amature photo. Think I'll have to change that, but my wife is giving me dirty looks, so I better get off the computer. |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread okay now, we have a photo but we can't get it from the bottom page of my profile to the post...He isn't around right now to tackle the deal. Hoping to get on the bike (at least trainer) Saturday but I'm scheduled for a 12 hr shift with my least favorite charge person--may need the stress relief when I get home she's the reason I started running. Seriuosly had such a go#-awful day when she was in charge that I was in a horrible mood when I got home and went to the gym. Went up the stairs deciding I would run (never did that before--even when I was on the track team in HS I did shot put/discus and the mile walk cause I couldn't run and pace myself) Next thing I knew I had gone 2 miles and felt like "rocky" going up the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps--and I have lived outside of Phila and climbed those steps with an asthma flare--it isn't fun! Definitely planning on Sunday though, hope for a nice long ride |

Master 3546 Millersville, MD | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread So, should we divvy up the other teams and go poo in their swimming pool... i.e. talk smack in their respective team threads? Of should it just stay here and in the main thread. IMHO it's kind of lame talking smack about them just amongst ourselves |

Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: RE: Barloworld Team Thread Hi Barloworld - thought I would just drop in and share some information about the team you are representing from the Tour De France. Their confirmed team line up for the Tour (at this stage) is a united nations of cycling: Félix Cardeñas (Col) The rider that Cycling fans will know best is South African Robbie Hunter who was a former Phonak rider who won the Tour of Picardie in May.
To let the big man speak from himself: "I have done five Tour de Frances in my career, this will be the 6th time. The Tour it is the biggest and most followed bicycle race in the world. With all of this it is obviously the hardest as well. This year doing it with a SA team is a very different experience but adds a lot of pressure being South African myself." Obviously the team is registered in Britain, but the sponsr is South African so Robbie will be out for national pride!!!
One of the oher guys to look out for, who I have already mentioned is the 21 year old (can you say fresh meat) Geraint Thomas who is probably in a panic right now!!! AND he will be the YOUNGEST rider in the Tour this year!!! To quote him: " It's quite surreal at the moment and I don't think I can imagine how big it will be especially starting in the UK with the thousands of home fans present". "I have had a good programme of races with Team Barloworld leading up to the Tour. I had 3 one days races at the beginning of June and then had a good gap to train on my TT bike in preparation for the prologue. I then had a stage race in Holland which finished 2 weeks before the tour. Then I was feet up and sat on the form: now I'm fresh and ready to go!" Thomas will be aiming for a successful TT when this all kicks off in London in less than 24 hours!!!
Tthese little snippets of info can hopefully help you relate to your team, some of the riders and who you are representing.. I will be watching the whole tour live (between 10p and 2/3am here) so will drop in with any relevant updates (if you are interested) BRING ON LE TOUR!! And have a great challenge Cat Edited by kaqphin 2007-07-06 7:25 AM |

Hi Virginboy, maybe if you would smack a little less, and actually try to ride your bike from time to time, you would maybe have a chance of actually finishing a tri !! |
