Did we ever pick a team captain?  I seem to recall that Freckle Face was nominated early on.  I second that nomination.

Thanks Captain Freckle Face!!!!

First ride for me done.  30 miles roundtrip: to the beach to swim and back.  There are no hills around me.  Well, no real hills.  There is a lot of wind though.  Which is like a never ending hill.     All my rides will be flat/rolling type except I'm doing the bike leg as part of a tri relay team in two weeks.  I guess that will count as a time trial.

GO TEAM!  GO TEAM!  GO TEAM!

I just had a moment of panic and thought that 12 rides now seems rather impossible.  Yikes!  But really, 15 minutes a day even when I wasn't planning on a ride - not a big deal.  Phew.  I could probably do that every day.

Do you guys think that two rides in one day (commute to work) counts as two or one?  They are seperated by 9 hours and a shower, so two seems reasonable.  But I don't want to mess up the results.  Let me know what you think or I can check with our challenge leader kahquin.

Go team!

I'd check with the challenge leader, i think that would equate to one ride, but I could be wrong.

Hey , just to answer your query. Two a day workouts can be counted as two workouts of course. For example if I did a spin class in the morning and a road ride in the evening it would be two stages. As long as they are both more than 15minutes in duration....

Most people are counting commutes as one stage... the way I see it, it comes down to how you counted it when you committed to the challenge but if there are any major objections I will need to know. So... Im posting something in each of the team threads...

Just so I know... do you cycle commute EVERY day? What I would suggest is if you are counting it as two you may need to revise your commitment to take this into account so its still a challenge!  (especially if it means you would be going from say 8 rides in the time frame to 28!!!)

Take Care

I only commute twice a week, tops, the 12 (even counting 2 a days) will be a challenge.  If everyone else really counts that as one ride, then that is what I should do too.     However, they are pretty significant rides for me as each way is about 40 minutes and they are around what I would ride for one days worth of riding.  (A lot more than a day when I decide to pop on the bike for 15 minutes, just to get in a ride.

I came up with the 12 not using any kind of scientific reasoning.  I knew I was in for about 9 training rides, and threw in 3 more when caught up in the excitement knowing I could add in a short ride if needed.   I could go either way, I just don't want to put out any bad vibes for the team but also want appropriate credit based on the rest of the challenge rules.

Im absolutely happy for you to split them if you want... as long as you are consistent with reporting it as it sounds like you treat them as two workouts and its certainly a substantial commute.

If these are basically your training rides then you should get credit for them. Just check this wont too easily take you way over your goal or you might want to bump it up

Dont worry you wont produce any bad vibes as long as you are consistent!

How was everyones first weekend with the challenge?  I did alright got a nice 32 mile ride in.  My training for the Baltimore 1/2 marathon starts today so I should be able to meet my goal of 12 no problem.

I did my first metric century ride of the season yesterday.  That plus the 30 miles I rode on Saturday and I put 90+ miles on my trusty steed.  Well this weekend was sort of an aboration 'cause I don't usually ride that many miles on the weekend, but it was fun!  No rides today or tomorrow and then hopefully a commute on Wednesday if the weather cooperates (i.e. no lightening).

Wow, lots of miles!  I am looking forward to a ride tonight.  I have a nice 12.5ish mile loop from my house that I use for a training ride, when I don't have somewhere I want/need to go.  This is after an OWS practice, which I am looking forward to.

Hey everyone! I'll be tallying the rides today (every Monday as per the challenge guidelines).

Looks like there were some nice long rides this weekend! I myself will be enjoying one this evening.

Thanks Ms. Freckle Face.

Bummer about Vikus!  I'm glad that Gusev has the white jersey though, that's cool. And "big" George is still in the top 5, for now anyway.  But where the heck is Levi these days, saving himself for the hills?

Oh my, I cannot recommend looking at the letour.fr site during the day, because they have live updates.  I am looking forward to watching the coverage on TiVo tonight!

I'm riding to dinner and to get groceries tonight.  I think my husband fancies himself as one of those people who chooses the bike over the car for transportation.  Funny since he drives a Ford F150, drives like 15 miles each way to work, and is kind of a nerd.  But, it works for me!

Commuting to work tomorrow and two decent rides planned for Saturday and Sunday.  The ride on Saturday is to watch the Lifetime triathlon, which is chock full of pros and should be exciting.
