I fall into all three categories.

Hey Dee, I contacted Bear (moderator), and he said he couldn't change the Challenge thread name (to Who's Your Marmadaddy). He said marma had to change that for us. Should I just start a new thread with the new title? Sal, I can make the change for you - just let me know what you decided on for your team name |

Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: January Challenge - Running - Distance Team B Good morning/afternoon everyone! It's a new month and a new year...sounds like a great time for a new challenge to me. My name is Melissa. I'm 43 and live in the Los Angeles area. I'm a tri newbie and also fairly new to BT having signed up back in the early fall. This will be my 4th challenge thus far, and my 3rd with Judi if memory serve. (Hi Judi! ) I'm in for 30 miles this month but may bump that up to 40 instead. Throughout 2008, I'm doing a virtual run with a friend of mine who lives out of state. We picked a center point between our two homes and we're both heading toward that spot. Since it's 569 miles, I need to average about 10-11 miles per week to "get there" by the end of the year. As for team names, LOVE "Who's Your Marmadaddy"! As for team captains, I was a captain in the November challenge, so I'll bow out and let someone else have the honor. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better during the next month. Go Team! |

Let's see, I ran 423.86 miles last year...I need to pick out a city about that distance from me and see if I can not only get there but one another 425 miles beyond this year...Time to hit the maps and see where I want to go on a virtual run tour... Dexter and Mike--did you guys survive Freezaroo 2? I saw the pic on Mike's page but that was before the run (the caption was cute though) |

Got my first 2.25 miles of 2008 in today. I swam, too. Apparently that whole swim challenge thing got me into the habit. Go figure... |

** sits down ** I'm gonna sit next to CJ and sing the Maryland fight song to him repeatedly . I'd sing the fight song from the Maryland institution where I got my masters but, ummm... I don't know it. We didn't sing it all that often at the lax games and blue jays aren't all that intimidating. Not nearly as much as turtles. Fear the turtle... oh wait...

Pro 4216 Sous Mon Diadème | Subject: RE: Who's Your Marmadaddy OK, so I guess I didn't do my official introduction... My name is Mila (it's pronounced my-la), and I am not 23 anymore. I was sidelined by an injury last season and wasn't able to run from late June through early November, so I'm trying to regain my run fitness one step at a time. This year's planned races include Iron Girl as well as a couple of sprints and likely at least one HIM relay. I like to ride my pretty bike which, it's been said, has some pink accessories on it. What else? I'm a former competitive figures skater which hasn't exactly translated into the whole swim/run thing (biking, believe it or not, is used as cross training for skaters, though I was never into it seriously while skating) so it's a big learning curve for me. I'm a spin instructor and I also have an educational consulting business. In my free time I play with

My name is Brett, and I'm a triathlete: Room answers "Hi Brett" (Ok, CJ did this first, but hey -- why let a good thing die) Well, I've got almost 10% of my distance committment for the month done. Goal is 35 miles, did 3.43 today. By way of intro, I'm a 47 year old father of 4 ( 1 in college, 3 teenagers-- and getting more grey hair by the minute!) Been running for about 9 years including 5 marathons, and 8 or 9 half marathons (all slowly). I've been a triathlete for about 3 years. Hope everyone had a great new year! See you on the trails!

I was never a runner, but it's grown on me since I decided I wanted to be a triathlete. I got sidelined with a stress fracture in my tibia and didn't get to run the marathon I signed up for in October. Now I'm back to training. I signed up for a half marathon in March, so I need to get back into training. Should be a fun month of training!! |
