aidana - 2008-03-19 6:56 AMCadreamer....I'm soooo gonna try that this week!!Great loss!!

Ok, I AM following those tips, and I think they are good. (well, except for eat whatever you want, I think that one's a little over the top.)

BUT you have to realize that right now I am on a very restricted calorie, low carb plan (Medifast.) I had to do something different, as I haven't been able to get the pounds off just through diet and exercise. I couldn't get my diet figured out well enough to make it work, or maybe I wasn't disciplined enough, I don't know. Medifast is taking all the guesswork out of the mix for me, and it's working so I'm happy, but there are definitely some trade-offs.

Where can I get more information on Medifast?
Should I just google it?

What's your plan like?

Sorry I'm asking tons of questions!

last week 201.4
this week 200.2

Yesterday I weighted 199.2 in the morning. I ate well, and worked out hard last night...man it sure is annoying to bounce back up to over 200!

Ok, this morning I am at 153.8. I am fairly happy with that. My goal was not really to lose this week, but really just to maintain, because I was in Boston over the weekend constantly eating out and attending a wedding. I did lose from last week's weigh in, so that is a bonus. I am still in the same few pound range though, and struggling to drop below it. Nevertheless on whole I am happy. Now I am in Vegas for the next couple weeks, so I can eat healthy exercise more consistently and hopefully get my body below the 150 mark.

Do any of you watch the Biggest Loser? I find myself getting pretty into it. Obviously all they are doing full time is worrying about losing weight, but still it would be nice to be losing 5 pounds a week the way they do.

I'm a huge Biggest Loser fan!!!  I'd kill to drop 5 pounds in 5 weeks at this point!

Made just a few changes, went back and reread my G. I. diet books and started a food journal again.  Helps make me accountable.

On the downside, I have to repeat last weeks VO2 Max test, b/c I didn't reach Max HR or VO2.... crap!

Ok so I went cycling on the borroed bike- let me just mention that the owner absolutely adores it so I was a bit freaked out at first (it's a Kline and costs more than my car at this stage) but it was so much fun!!! I did 26km at a very relaxed pace (total time:1h28m) just enjoying this beautiful day. And it didn't really feel like a workout.

Food report:

1. coffee with milk (before cycling)
2. banana (after cycling)
3. lunch: 2 slices of brown bread, chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, wee bit of sweetcorn, coleslaw).
4. 1 slice of birthday cake (my friend's birthday)
5. handful of mixed musli + weight watchers yoghurt

Dinner plans: carrot and coriander soup (possibly 2x ryvita)

Cad - Do you find yourself with much energy doing the medi? I never tried medi but I did do a local food delivery program that was 1000 calories a week. It worked at the time but also gave me gallstones so I had to cut out that VLC diet stuff. Then I of course gained it all back (this was like 8 years ago now) because I was inactive and went back to the way I was eating.

This week I'm down to 208. Only 6 more pounds until I hit that magic 100 lost! I've found though since I've been training more the weight isn't dropping as much as it did before So it might not be until late next month. We will see.

Nice weigh in for me this week:

Last: 261.5

This: 257 Cool

Had to get on the scale a couple of times, but yeah that was the #.  Looks like I'll be able to hit my goal of 255 by the end of the month.

I saw a program last Sunday entitled (I think) "I Will Make You Thin"

He had some really good things to say about eating.  Here's his 4 steps.  I thought they were good tips.

(1) Eat when you're hungry.
(2) Eat what you want.
(3) Eat slowly and consciously.  (Chew each bite, savor your food.)
(4) When you are full, stop.

I know that I tend to eat really fast when I'm hungry, cause I want the food NOW, but I've been slowing it down this week, with the result that I'm feeling more satisfied.

Awesome, on the weightloss. P.s. -- I saw the show too. It was worth, at least listening and putting to use some of these techniques.

Last week 160.5...this week 157.8!!!!!! I'm in ths 50s....YEAH!

Down 2.7 pounds (I would be concerned that it was too much but this follows a 3 week plateau.) My secret for teh week...our fearless leader's advice :-) I followed Saling4's advice and did some high intensity trainning last week. I guess I shocked my body a little...and it let go of more than 2 pounds...YES!!!! Ths brings my total weight loss so far to 17.2 pounds since January...hee hee hee hee..I am so tickled

About the book, alll this time, I could have sworn I had already told you guys the name, its not some big secret and I am not a tease...my bad Its called Sports Nutrition for Endurance Athletes by Monique Ryan...definitely worth the 20 bucks I spent on it!

that's just too cool, congrats on pushing through the plateau. I know from personal experience that they are extremely hard to overcome sometimes... SO GOOD JOB!

Bummer. I was kind of hoping that the weight would drop, not increase, in the initial stage of my training plan. My body fat % is down 5%, though.

Time to start a food journal . . .

just remember muscle weighs more than fat. meaning the same volume of muscle will weigh more, and if your BF% is down, then.....
