Oh snap!

My favorite tri chick is racing back at E-Man again!  No, not the younger "hot" one everyone is thinking of.

Natascha will be in the race!  I heart her!!

As everyone knows, just got the latest and greatest CTA e-mail .......

Leaving tomorrow afternoon (Friday) for MD!  Anyone want to meet up for a swim say late Sat. morning or early afternoon, before the Pro Forum?  Any plans for a BT meet-up at the expo?

I going to try to leave the house by around 9:30 tomorrow morning, which would get me to the park at about 11:30. I'd like to get a quick swim in, and then head over for the 1PM race meeting followed by the pro forum.

what are people's feelings on wearing compression socks for the race???? I have been wearing them for all my long runs and do have issues with my shins and lower leg muscles. so will i look like a tool bag wearing them??? I am not fast, therefore, I at least like to LOOK cool

2:30 at Sailwinds. I was going to go rack my bike after this, and then do hotel check in/dinner.

For some reason I'm not nervous yet, I just want 7:27 Sunday morning to get here.

We're all wearing skin tight spandex... you'll fit right in.  My guess is 20% of the field will be wearing compression socks, including many pro's.

I just checked into my hotel in Cambridge.  I'm planning on driving over to the park area in a little while to see the set-up.  I will definitely be swimming at some point tomorrow before the pro forum.

Today's Cambridge weather report comes to you from Pro and 70.3 Champion Terenzo Bozzone.  Looks like hydration and getting in enough electrolytes is gonna be key, assuming the weather pattern is the same on Sunday morning.

You can't possibly look worse than this:

LOL!! you do look a little out of place just standing there but in action you look pretty cool. I guess i just got to get over myself and face the fact that i am a tri geek... compression socks being my pocket protector ;0) i swore a year ago i would never wear them and now i have 3 pairs. Still not sure if I can go as far as the sperm helmet though.

As I'm heading down tomorrow as will most folks if they aren't already there, here's the latest and greatest weather update:

Temp at start 62
Temp at 10 AM 71
Temp at 12 PM 75
Temp at 2 PM 77 (high forecast of 81)
Dewpoint 62-64
Winds NNW at 3 mph at start, turning to N at 3-5 after 8 AM, becoming ENE-ESE at 5-8 mph after 1PM
Partly to mostly cloudy skies
30% chance precipitation during the period with isolated thunderstorms after 2PM
Waves 1ft or less
Water temps have crept up a bit to 72-73 and will probably still be in the lower 70s come race day.

So with dewpoints up there, looks like the keeping cool on the run may be a bit difficult since we won't be able to evaporate our sweat too well. Keep hydrated. Electrolytes will be important to replenish as well. Of course, I remember last year when the heat was bad too and survived that, so maybe with temps around 80, this won't be as bad for us. I'll still sweat buckets though.

Looks like a slight head to cross wind on the return bike trip. Nothing too bad but something to be aware of, especially if you're out there when it picks up.

One forecast model I looked at was pretty dry as far as rain went, while another kept some light rain in the form of isolated to scattered showers during the race period. So, if we do get a bit wet out there, looks more like passing showers.

Anyway, good luck to all! Hopefully, with no bike mechanicals and if I can run (had a few problems there last few weeks), I'll able to finish between 1:30 and 2.

Whatever works for you is what I say. If you notice my pic, that's from last year's Eagleman. Those are arm coolers I've got on. Helped with the heat last year. I also wore a cooling bandana around my neck which I think I heard one spectator ask if that was a necktie.

Wear them with pride! Good luck!

Ignore the light wind forecast. It is completely different out in the refuge area. You can expect 15 - 20 mph fairly consistently back there. Suck it up buttercups!! A little wind ain't gonna kill ya.

I'm number 1231.  I feel branded with my red wristband.

As far as the weather, it is fairly humid here.  The breeze felt nice near the water, but not very comfortable once you get farther away.  The water did not appear to be very choppy, but I did not swim today, as I didn't see anyone else in the water.

Another thought.  I know you guys said that it was flat here, but I didn't think it would be this flat.  I don't know if I have ever seen land this flat.  The only hill I have seen in the bridge coming into Cambridge.

It goes in the mouth of the bottle, to help prevent splashout while riding and/or when filling while riding.

ok, thanks! I know your not supposed to try these things out in a race BUT I am in no danger of winning so if it annoys me to the point where i lose a few minutes... oh well

Sounds like the conversation I had with myself when buying an IT band strap the other day. "But putting this on in transition might take me from 1,082nd place to 1,096th!"
