nate's right to watch those bottle exchanges. A bit of practice doesn't hurt, either.  Even top pro's can have troubles.  A couple years ago while defending her 70.3 World Championship, Joanna Zeiger broke her collar bone in a nasty crash at a bottle exchange.

lakeview - 2011-10-20 3:01 PM thx. i was looking at the PPD B2B site.  didn't think to look at Setup.  I'm 690.  Guess they are based on order of entry as I waited to close to the end to sign up.

I'm #693, I must have snuck in right after you.

I only have modest goals... & a few nagging overuse issues.  Maybe 2 hr bike & 1hr run @ Z1-2 effort.  Maybe a short swim if my shoulder & pec feel good.

Very little.  Work Friday, 3.5 mile run Saturday, 2000 meter swim Sunday, 20 on the bike Monday, easy swim Tuesday and I am done for the half.  I used this past week to make up the 4 miles of swimming that I missed the last ten months.

Swimming is my strong point so I feel good about the swim after the extra distance.  Keep the water temp up for next Saturday.

I'm gonna ride 40 tomorrow in full race setup - aerobottle/Gu's taped to the toptube/race wheels. (No aero helmet, tho...that thing is just too conspicuous for anyplace but a race) The last shake-down ride is intended to uncover anything (cracked rubber bands, loose bar extensions, leaky tubes in race wheels) that needs mending before next Saturday. Next Friday isn't the time to start on the details...

I'll run 9 or so on Sunday for the joy of it...

Have a fine last weekend of prep, friends...We're almost there.

I have been watching videos of verious parts of B2B this week.  In most of the finish line shots, the family or friends are there waiting on the other side of the finish line as the person crosses the line.  How do they know their family member is on the way to be able to meet them as they cross like that?  For any of you have raced this before, how did you notify your family of where you were or that you were almost there so they could catch you at the finish?

so what are you guys planning on wearing for the bike?  i'm thinking i may need a little more than just arm warmers.  i might try to put on a long sleeved base layer and throw my tri jersey on over that in T1.  but if the forecast is accurate and it does end up being 70 degrees, i know i won't want the sleeves on for the run.  should i just harden up and be chilly on the bike?

Try arm warmers plus stuffing newspaper or plastic bag under your jersey as wind block.  As day warms up you can ditch the newspaper AT A DROP ZONE, and take off the AW's whenever you want.

I'd definitely bring that volume down this weekend.  Your hands down top priority right now should be to get yourself back to 100% healthy.  If that means doing nothing this weekend, I'd recommend that over any training session.

Listen to da Coach!!!!  Nothing you do a week from the event can help your fitness-only hurt.  If you feel up to it, just get out for a little S/B/R to keep those muscles loose.  Get to that start line as healthy & fresh as you can be, NOT still sick &/or tired.

Hope you're feeling 100% on race day!!!!

need to stop looking at the weather reports. They seem to change every few hours from sunny to 30% chance of rain.  Since I can not control the weather must obsess about something else like finishing the swim in 2 hours or less and starting the bike by 9:15

When I do tri's with long runs to T1 or even long walks to the swim start (fearing glass or sharp rocks, rtc.) i use or stash an old pair of flip flops or crocks. You can run in them a short distance and I have no fear if they get lost or picked up as trash while I'm out racing. They look so bad that I've always had no problem finding them post race.

Thanks for the idea.  I did a brick today and tested wearing crocs for a short "transition" run between bike and run.  They were amazingly comfortable for running.  I dunked my feet in water before slipping them on -- that was the only tricky part.  Wet feet don't slip in as smoothly as dry.

Now I've just got to find a place to stash them near the docks.

This time next week...!!!!!
