Maybe Tuscon is a tad warm for me... Right now anywhere would be betterthan here.

Have a weekend everybody. I am off to throw one last time this season, then a day fly fishing on Sunday. I will probably not get much run, the throwing kinda kicks me in the poo-poo the next day.

Steelheading comes in a little over three weeks. Canadian Thanksgiving weekend me a 2 buddies are driving 20+ hours to the Alaskan border to spend 3 days up to our waists in a glacial river and wave spey rods at fish we probably won't catch and try not to get eaten by Grizzlies. Sounds like a good time to me!!!

Fly fishing, it's a sickness and the only cure is Chrome...

Waist deep in cold water. Just get a long run in before and you can do ice bath + fly fish at the same time. Its like killing 2 fish with one hook.

I posted this in my TL, but thought I'd also post up here....

Yesterday (Syracuse 70.3) was a really great day.  I didn't have a whole lot of expectations for the day bc honestly I didn't know what on earth to from myself.  I knew what to expect from 70.3 miles of fun, but with my recent lack of diligent training I didn't know what I was capable of doing.  I seriously surprised myself!!

0:43:27 - 3:14:11 - 1:56:25 = 6:00:07

28:52 HIM PR
13:04 half marathon PR

I thought I'd have a PR for the day, but at no point did I ever, ever think I'd hit 6 hours.  I'm going to harp on those damn 7 seconds for a while to come, but I'm thrilled with this race!!!  The last 15 minutes were beyond painful, but other than that I felt strong & amazing the entire day.

Earlier in the year I'd hoped this year to throw down a 6-hour HIM, a sub-2 hour half marathon and a half marathon at a sub-9 min pace.  Check. Check. Check.

Over the past month I've said numerous times that I'm taking a break from half ironman next year.  I might have to reconsider   I can still say, however, even after a really good race day, IM is not in my cards.

Fantastic Job Kelli,

Your times are great and you did the best you could that particular day.
Please don't beat up yourself over seconds, if anything those 7 seconds will
become your biggest motivator.

It is to early after your race to think about doing an M-dot but I will tell you, you'll have
a change of heart down the road. I was asked the same question after my Half Iron a couple of weeks after the race and my answer was no way in hell!

Great job and congratulations - you deserve it.

Had a good cry this morning and made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for tomorrow (hoping the sitter comes through).  He was referred to me by another runner/triathlete and with some PT she got better, I can only hope.
I'll let you know what I find out.

Chin up KK. It has to be tough but we know you are a tough cookie as well. Keep positive thoughts and hope it works out well.

Start milking it with the spousal unit. You can fake it all you want he will never know...

Saw the doc X-ray is negative, no big surprise there.

He asked when my big event is and when I told him Nov 7 he said "Well, when we get to the critical point in your training if it's not better we'll do an MRI."
Dude!  This IS the critical point in my training I need the MRI now.
MRI is scheduled for tomorrow.

The good news is I can ride my bike!  He said the bike may aggrivate and cause swelling but it's not really going to hurt it so I am starting with a trainer ride tonight.  I have never been so excited to get on the drainer!!!

Woot.  Good news on both being able to get an MRI already, and to be able to get on the drainer.  Good news so far.  I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for good news from the MRI as well.

10 years ago today I managed to trick this amazing women with two little boys into marrying me.  I'm not sure how I pulled it off but 10 years and 3 little girls later I couldn't be happier with our big family.

Keri HOPEFULLY will be getting some MRI news that we can work with today!  She is heading that way now with me holding down the fort.

I AM RACING SUNDAY!  Numbness be damned - I am full speed ahead on my bike now.  The TRI bike felt great last night and I will ride again for a bit on Friday to make sure I remember how to make the pedals turn.  No aggressive time goals just hoping to get through this first oly (everything is a PR).  The swim is odd for an olympic in that it's 2 loops with a 100m jog across a beach to jump back in the water for loop #2.  The good news is I get a tiny break from swimming, the bad news is the HR might peg if I am not careful on the transition to loop 2.  They tossed in a stadium ramp (like one you would find at nearly all football stadiums) in the 10k.  We get to run up in circles and then down somewhere during the run - RD gets creative in Houston to create hills (he had the field go over a large bridge 3 times in an oly earlier this year).  I can't wait.

2 dozen pink roses - check
Anniversary card - check
Anniversary present - check

Dinner with my bride tonight at the Melting Pot.  We have used this place as our "special occasion place" for awhile now.

I hope everyone has a great weekend - Good luck to Eric (maybe KK Aqua-bike) and any other racers!
