Got a flat on my ride this morning, so if you're reading this - Send HELP!

Just kidding, I replaced the tube and turned around since I didn't have anything to fix another flat and I was heading out into the county (further from home, less opportunity for assistance, etc.).

Quick question on tires: I found a tiny rock shard that had punctured the tire and tube (about 1/3 the size of the nail on my little finger, and sharp).  The small cut it made in the tire is visible, but probably only a couple mm in length, right in the center of the tire.  Do you think this warrants replacing the tire?  I'm uncertain if the small cut is actually a blowout risk or if I'm paranoid.

No, probably not worth replacing the tire. I've had a few small nicks and cuts in my training tires for hundreds of miles, and as long as you clean the inside of the tire, you should be fine. However, I'd bring a dollar bill with you (always a good idea to bring some money with you anyway) so you can put a temporary patch on the inside of the tire should the puncture get worse.

Hey Peeps!   Sorry I've been such a stranger.  This summer class is kicking my butt.  Absolutely no extra time to get on the computer at home and at work it's budget season which needs to be done before I go on vacation in two weeks so I'm more than a little slammed.

I did read back a bit but was overwhelmed with the pages.   I hope everyone is rocking their races with no new injuries.  Speaking of which, mine are SLOWLY coming along still.  PT is almost over and I've decided to hold off on the injections till the first of the year when I have a spending account again.  I have the lovely feeling of pain in my quads from actually working out so life is good. I'm still only doing run walks (2/3) but I'll take it.  For those of you talking about running fast, I'll volunteer to be the turtle of the group and I'll be happy about it.  It beats the heck out of the couch.  I'm still hoping that the LV 1/2is possible.

Happy Training!

Have also seen people cut up an old tire, removing the bead but leaving most of the rolling part and some side wall in tact that also works very well.  Agree with keeping money on you!

LV is possible!  Even if you have to do a 1:1 walk run, the after event entertainment will be worth the trip!

Hi All!  Looks like you've been busy this morning......I'm trying to stay caught up as best I can.....today's highlight so far for me, I skipped my scheduled bike workout to ride the RU. Stayed aero almost 100% of the time!!!  Totally dig the new shifters.   Same old swim with the man....caught no fish this time.....but all was good.

Oh and dinner party at the Shain's tonight...if you're around stop by.  Drinks at the fire pit start at 5:30pm....then tenderloin on the grill and a whole slew of other stuff....the vacation continues.

Mett - 2010-07-08 6:16 AM Here is my running comment, I got home from class last night totally exhausted and ate dinner. I felt like I ate too much and was feeling bad for not running or exercising. I thought about skipping it and I just keep seeing this commercial in my head from Kona 07 or 08 (only two I have on video) and it is this guy running in the rain in the dark (whether it is morning or night doesnt matter) and I just feel bad that I am being lazy. So at 9 pm I changed clothes and headed outside. It was still 86 degrees but the sun wasnt beating down on me. I took off at my normal slow slow pace and just ran. Up to this point I have never made it past 1 mile without stopping and having my shin muscles be super sore and wore out. WelL I had a breakthrough and made it 1.76 miles in 23 minutes. I first broke my record with distance and also time, 2 weeks ago in 23 minutes I only made it about 1.23 miles so I am getting better.

I love this, Mark!!!  It's these sorts of decisions early on in training that really define your commitment!  REALLY AWESOME!!!!    You should feel really, really pumped!

My favorite part of this is not the new PR for distance or time (although both of those are awesome -- congratulations!!)... My favorite part is that you did not give in to the urge to blow this off... You went out and GOT IT DONE!!! That is huge and such a win for you, both mentally and physically. Congratulations!! I'm impressed, because come 9pm the only thing I'm running off to is my bowl of ice cream or my bed, ha ha!!

OK Gang... sorry for being a completely lame MG member and not posting. Did I miss anything big in the last month? I am not so sure I will be able to read all of these pages to catch up! Laughing

Lets see updates on me
1) Husband and I went to Italy and Greece for 11 days in the beginning of June and I am just now getting around to posting the pictures on the blog.

2) Had my first race of the season and missed the opportunity to post on the fun "Are you racing this weekend thread"  Bummer. Did ok in the race (Better than last year) but not the improvement that I wanted to see

3) I am about  this close || to hiring a coach for nutrition and training purposes. Meeting with her at the end of the month to chat about what my training should look like for the remainder of my HIM preparation. I like the BT Plan but I think I need something a bit more tailored to me.

4) I AM RACING THIS WEEKEND! I will find the fun thread just so that I can post to it. This will be my first Olympic and I am nervous as all get out. Anyone doing Chattanooga Waterfront?

5) Work has been hectic. With a building fire right after I returned from Italy and Freshman Orientation, I have been super hectic and no where near a computer for leisure time. So I apologize for my absence.

Needless to say, nothing recently has been going as planned but I am being flexible. Miss yall. Now hopefully I can get back to normal I hope. Many thanks for those of you who posted "Inspires" for me in my absence. I appreciate them!

stefanier - 2010-07-08 8:32 PM OK Gang... sorry for being a completely lame MG member and not posting.
