You can do tabata protocols in anything -- it calls for a 5 min warmup and cool down with x number (I think 5) of 2:1 cycles.  I sprinted 20" and recovered for 10", 5 times.  Did the same thing on the trainer the day before.  If you google it you'll get the history and science behind it.  I like that it clears out my lungs -- I swam so much better after my run yesterday!  And it's quick.

I googled it and read a few articles. It sounds awesome! So, as I'm reading, I'm thinking "hmmm, I have a 20-30 minute run before my swim tonight, I can always do these to make my short run count. I could also add them tot he end of all my trainer sessions on the bike. I'm going to add these in to several workouts!" Then I read this and just had to laugh:

If you're like a lot of triathletes, you will be tempted to incorporate this session into a longer workout. Don't. If you do more than a warm-up beforehand, you will fall apart completely after just a few intervals, and while you will still be giving a maximum effort, you will not be working at your true maximum output level, and that's what counts. And you simply won't be able to even think about doing anything more than a short cool-down after completing your Tabata intervals.

And now, of course I have to ask - do you do them individually or do you work them into longer workouts?

30 min walk/jog.

I finally moved beyond the 5 min jog in my walk/jog program. I did a 7 minute jog! (this must sound so crazy small to you!!!). Truth is though it was HARD - I really had to push for it. You'll have to keep your eye out for me when I make it to jogging for 30 min straight!!!!

We all started with something crazy small. Well done on the progression and keep at it. It will get better.

Thank you bondgirl!

had a SQUEEEEZED in run today and it felt good.  Went to the Y and dropped my kidlings off at the daycare there.  I had 1/2hr before they closed for lunch - totally enough time!  My walk/jog was 2/7; 5/5; 5/4 (how should I be writing that?)

Made up for yesterdays lame workout. Swam 1200 meters this AM, then went ice skating for 40 min followed by a 35 min walk with the dogs. What a fun day and I get a peach as well. Great job getting those peaches everyone.

Congrats! I remember the first time I broke that 5 min jog barrier. I was doing the couch to 5K plan and was stuck on the 5 minute interval for a month. I finally broke through it and wooped out loud on the treadmill. Lots of people turned to stare at me but I didn't care, I was so very proud of breaking that barrier We all start somewhere and you're making great progress!

Glad I read that -- I was only doing 5 repetitions and you're supposed to do 6-8.  No wonder I could still swim afterwards.  I'm really tired today tho, so 2 days in a row must have had some effect.

This is truly a great challenge!  Due to my baby girl and my hubby's work schedule, it is impossible to do what I would consider an actual "work out" every day of the week.  Normally I would do nothing out of the ordinary on those two days but this challenge makes me get up and at least grab the stroller (and the kiddo, of course!) and walk somewhere, anywhere, just to move!!  So far, my calendar is nothing but peachy!

mammajaS ~ Keep up the awesome work!!  We all started where you are and it's really exciting to see your progress!

I got to go to the class I love tonight since I am in town. Wha hoo....

30 min ab class, 60 min aerobics (she went long so we got the full 60) and 15 min stretching.

If the soreness setting in is already a hint tomorrow might not be much. I need to move next week  (red eye wed) to fly home.

Happy Wednesday Night Peaches.

Thanks for telling us about the tabata. I had never heard of that before. Tried a run last night and it killed me! I did swim afterwards, but I took a break between so I think that helped. Stay peachy everyone

Hi Peeps!! Earned my peach today with a wicked spin class...yes I said spin class!! Will get back outside as soon as I pick up my old roadie from the shop. We were expecting freezing rain here, and they dumped sooo much salt on the roads I don't dare take the carbon out. Have a great Thursday everyone!!

Feeling much "peachy-er" today. A total of 98min doing a combination of walking, strength training, core work and stretching. Felt great to get out for a walk again.

The "Around the World" core work-out on this site is great.

Wonder how my abs will feel tomorrow?

Yesterday I earned my peach w/ just 20min of yoga. Forgot to log it until today.

Ha!Ha! I couldn't figure out what you were talking about for a sec. Then I saw what time the post was logged.

Actually my son is 8 so he goes to bed when we finish arguing about when his bed time is LOL. Usually about 8pm...I'm a pretty good arguer.
