What is the Gatorade swim thing? - From 7:00am to 10:00am Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Gatorade will have a booth set up where you can check in your dry gear while you go and swim.  At the same time the swim course will be set up and closed to boats.  At the end of your swim you get your stuff back plus some other Gatorade free stuff.  Go chance to swim the course.

This has nothing to do with picking up your race chips and other things.  This takes place from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Like I said, You have a plethora of informative information for us naive neophytes.

Is it going to be crazy packed for the gatorade swim thing (like it makes a difference!) but I am in for friday AM swim, but just wondering how to meet up with everyone, I also will be meeting a smaller group and our online coach and figure we could condense both groups since they all post here also. Someone going to set up a specific spot? You guys have big BT tattoo's or somethin? I'll be the girl with crazy tan lines and with a fearful look in her eyes as I consider the temperature of a ccccold water lake. Has it reached 70 yet??

I am gone on Monday tho good Mexican food is almost enough for me to change my flight!!

And Sunday...oh I have plans all ready....you bet I do.

Hello All-

Lake not quite 70....not quite 65.....pooring rain as I write this!  Not to worry though, warmer weather on the way.....say about June 25th!  Just joshing, lake will warm up nicely.

There is a tall clock tower right at the entrance to the CDA Resort.  It is on the corner of 1st and Sherman...basically right about where the finish line will be.  Easily findable and a good place to meet.  We could all consider that the spot.  It is close to transition and Athlete Village, etc!

hi from the oldest one of the group

Could someone let me know where you get the information re: your transition bags, special needs bags etc. Will this be given to us when we register? Couldn't find any reference to it on the CDA website. Of course as a first timer I have been given all kinds of advice on what to put inside them.

Going for my first lake swim of the year tonight. Weather in Vancouver, B.C. has been cool for this time of year.At this point in training I feel that there is nothing more I can do - not worried about the lake temperature. More worried about the bike/run temperature - has barely been above about 68 oF here.

Although I don't post often I really enjoy following your postings and having some good laughs.
The "gears" chat cracked me up! They are numbered? Sorry, but I go with what feels good! And as long as my bike is happy - no growling, then so am I!

See you in a few weeks.

I'm reading the schedule of events, and it appears we can do the mandatory meeting friday night OR saturday afternoon

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

FUNNY - Page 12, there is a section that says:

LATE FINISHERS - If you finish the race after 4pm, please be aware that there will only be a skeleton medical staff on stand-by at the medical tent.  (emphasis added).  So, if I read this correctly, everyone who takes longer than 9 hours to complete the race is a "late" finisher and gets the skeleton crew.  He he he...that's funny.

Something tells me the volunteer EMT folks didn't fully grasp the concept of this race when they made their schedule.  According to last years result, 8 competitors were able to take advantage of the "full" medical staff . The other 1753 were "late"

Kootenai Medical Center staffs the medical tent and it will be staffed until midnight.  They take great pride in what they put into this event.  Many of the "pros" and late finishers say it is the very best medical tent they have ever seen!!

Do not worry...someone will be there to take care of ya!!!

Something funny this am......

After being aggravated because of pool crowding/time/committments, etc I jumped in one of the six showers at the gym and noticed that beside myself there were two other fellas shaving their legs!!!  Must be getting close to race day!!

The ones NOT shaving their legs looked at the rest of us like we were crazy!

Man, I don't know where THAT came from!  I've been on the medical staff at CDA the last 3 years and the tent is FULLY staffed until midnight every year.  So no worries.  And yeah, it really is one of the best medical staffs of all the IM races.  The medical director here is co-director for Kona and Arizona and the one of the Seattle Seahawks team physicians...really good sports medicine guy.

I don't think any of us have any worries though...no BT'ers are going to need the medical tent!!

My favorite quote from the Athlete Information Guide, also on page 12:

"4. TRAUMA - Try to avoid it."

I don't like how they keep saying the bike course closes at 1 pm.  I don't know if I can make that

If I do I'm sure I can finish the marathon in 11 hours.

I posted a few pics from the course in my album if any of you are interested in seeing some more of it.  I'll see if I can put a couple of them on here too.

Nice update on water temp. Not exactly sure what that even feels like but c'mon I think I am less worried about water temp. than having 2000 people to swim with....

It's all a big fun fest. Keep saying that over and over....

better go check out the guide you are talking bout....
