Well I'm with Yanti and Ann Marie with the swim amnesia... and I'm quite sure our Manatee men would fit right into that picture.

Allen, one of the terms they keep using I can't quite figure out what they are say but is seems to refer to the TdF riders swerving on their bike .

As for my "race". The morning seemed to be more of a bike workout with a 5k thrown in.  I am super happy with my ride, I cut off 7 minutes from the last time I did it.  It is the route I take when I ride to the pool.  Anyway, the 5k wasn't an outstanding accomplishement but I am happy with my 29:43 considering I'd just biked a hilly course with a PR! I also took some satisfaction as all of the fast people climbed back into there cars to leave and I climbed on my bike for the 9 mile ride home... AND I have my ticket to the Pork & Brew and $5 in tickets to spend when I get there!!!!!!!!!

How is everyone else this fine weekend?

Now I need to clean up and go get groceries... and a Bux!!! BTW, Salty, why doesn't Starbucks make it so I can tip on the debit card. I always have to make sure I have some $1's to go there...

Nice effort. You go enjoy your Pork & Brew you lucky thing.

Here is the RR.  It's not nearly as entertaining as Yanti's or Allen's so maybe save it for when you have insomnia...

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=449551

How do some of you change the appearance of the link (to say linky-poo and such)

Not read it yet, but if you go all out at the Pork & Brew it could make for an entertaining report!

Watching Tour de Piglets and trying to stay loose, warm and relaxed for the ocean swim tomorrow ...

Came across this and this is exactly what the lineup looks like tomorrow since all those piglets are who come to race, and those who don't, are working the event in that capacity.

Hm ... might happen to me ...

Oh that's like the pool deck on a Saturday - after squad Coach Johnny trains an Aussie Rules football team - they look a lot like that.  Once he said - hey guys I want you all to meet Jojo....oh my.

Uh...yeah...totally with you on that one.

How's Baby E? Feeling better?

She's better so far today.  Last night was pretty miserable.  Lots of clothing changes.

That's good to hear, but so how are YOU feeling?

Better than her.  I was fine this morning.  A little weak from the no food yesterday, so I went for a really easy run on the treadmill this afternoon.

Brrrrr minus 1 degree when I set off for my run this morning.  Sun was shining though so many cyclists out today.  I wrapped up with gloves etc.  Soon sweating in the sunshine1  Hungover from the last glass of red last night, wasn't sure how far I'd get, thought I'd try 5 then 10 then see how I went.  I ended up doing my planned 13km so am very happy and my hangover is gone!

So. The 5K swim. Oof.

I'm not going to say it was brutal, because that word gets bandied about too much, but when the surf lifesavers are themselves having to ride in on the Zodiacs and get carried on a stretcher up to the med tent ... it's a tough race.

Last year's 10K winner in just over 2 hours, Andrew Tebbutt (a right piglet, of course!), posted a 2:42 this year ... that's after training all year and saying he gave much more to this race.

Good thing I didn't do the 10K. I'd either be in Australia or the hospital right now.

LOL. Wasn't *quite* bad enough to end up in Port Phillip Bay, but Darwin maybe.

Love the piccie of your run!

Had a pair of smokin' hot young piglet laddies, both of the Oz national Surf Lifesaving and open-water swim teams and even though they came in 1-2 on the 10K, they mentioned they felt quite subdued by the conditions! One of them was even the surf lifesaving national champion. It bloody well SUCKED out there today! I'm no chump in the water either! Flipping on one's back and floating was not an option ... the waves and chop would have dumped right over one anyway.

This is them. Fellow on the right is Rodney Holt, the race organizer and an Oz Olympian.

Note the "porn 'stache" on the middle fellow, which I teased him about as the rest of his entire body was shaved.

Nice job Kirk! 1:20 is great, especially considering your work/training life as of late.

As for you, Yanti, glad you survived it, and glad you didn't attempt the 10k!

Psssh nothing wrong with a little beer on a Sunday morning. One might even consider it communion So, I'm working a triathlon and these two boys are watching their mom head to the swim start. One of them says, in the most dejected voice,"ughhhh I don't want to watch mom lose AGAIN" lol I almost peed my pants.

Just snorted beer out of my nose... So I'm getting even weirder looks for being in a bar on Sunday alone drinking (DW gets out of work @ noon)[/This reminds me, I joined a new running group this week. I was a bit concerned how I'd like them, but all that was put to rest when I received the email about where we were meeting for Saturday's ( yesterday) run. We were meeting at 6 am at Wally's. Wally's is a legendary bar in my area. It opens at 7:30am, right after Wally raises the flag. The drinks are generous and cheap. So, after the run the plan was to hang at Wally's for a bit and then go across the street for breakfast. Unfortunately, I already had plans to swim after the run and didn't think alcohol and swimming would be a good combination, so I missed the best part of the morning. Still, I now know this is a group after my own heart!

Yanti - well done on the swim, I would barely make it through, i'd still be out there splashing and floundering!  Still one of the hot little piglets could rescue me I suppose!

Kirk - awesome job!

Me - well yet another Sunday afternoon spent feasting with the Greek family - man they know how to put on a spread.  Didn't hydrate sufficiently got heaps of cramps in legs last night.  So no run today save it for tomorrow.  Tonight got swim squad and I think that's all I'll do, that was a big trainign/boozing/eating weekend.
