I have a bid on a Blue Adamo Road Bike Saddle on Ebay.  I ride with a Profile Design with the cut out right now. I hoping it will assist with numbness I experience after 30 min. of riding; especially on the trainer.  Anyone using the ISM Adamo Road and if so, how do you like it?

THX

Everyone is so so different.... I actually prefer a road saddle with zero padding, but others prefer the cutouts, others prefer the padding.  I would advise you to only buy if you get a good deal, and if it doesn't work you can resell and recapture any losses.

Unless of course you have tried one already and know this IS the saddle for you?   I do know that some bike shops around the country let you rent saddles as well to try them out.  Maybe check that out as well.  Saddles are a VERY important part of the bike.

I got a profile design and did not like it one bit - numbness issues for me too.  I then got a adamo, tried it and it didn't work out for me -it was seriously uncomfortable.  Trevor and I traded saddles, so he may still be using it.  On John's advice I got a Cobb V-Flow Plus (website) and have loved it!  Cobb has an extremely generous return policy so it is basically a risk free trial.  Trisports has a program to let you rent saddles to try in case you want to check out some before you buy and it looks like they have numerous ones to chose from...

Well, I dragged my lazy butt up and out at 4:45 AM.  Pulled the bike out of it's mothballs and dusted it off.  Rode 20 miles at a pretty steady clip.  Wonders never cease.  I actually remembered how to ride a bike.  Wink

I went to the Aquatic center last night after work, but ALL the pools were a mob scene.  I didn't feel like fighting with 3 to 4 swimmers per lane.  Especially since, being so slow, I was going to have people swimming up my backside the whole time.  I hear a bunch of College teams come down in January to train and it certainly looked like it.  Fast Fishies everywhere.  Got in the car and headed home.  I think I need a new pool.

1st  .....  have you been fit on this bike?

2nd .....  TT bike or Road Bike with Aero Bars?

I ride an Adamo Race on my TT bike .....  when I ride my TT bike ( I think it has been a least a year).  I felt like I tried every other saddle made before I found this one and it solved all my "Man Parts" issues.  But as Birdy says, just cause it works for one person doesn't mean it will work for you.  Keep trying different saddles and but pay special attention to your seat angle with each saddle because all saddles are built a little different and your seat angle will probably change with each one.  Be aware that your hip angle should be different on each bike with a proper fit.  A proper bike fit should have it being most closed on your TT bike and that is why you may be having numbness issues.  A closed hip angle will move your weight forward off your sitz bones and more on your perineum.

As an example, I ride a different saddle on each of my bikes.  Adamo Race on my TT.  Selle Italia Team Issue Flo on my Roadie.  Selle Italia Q'bik on both my Cross bikes.  Selle Italia SLR Flight Flow on my Mountain Bike.  (Ironically my team is partially sponsored by Fizik and I just can't seem to find one of their saddles that will work for me.

Keep hunting until you solve this numbness issue.  May be time for another fit......

First swim lesson down......I am so happy with the decision to have lessons.  It helped so much and it was only my first.  I defenitly have a long way to go but it seems more obtainable now.  I would recommend a swimming coach or private lessons to anyone who has a fear of the swimming... and I plan on keeping mine till I feel I can comfortably swim with good form and have the endurance I need.Laughing

He really pushed me and corrected me during the whole session.  Which will definiatly help in making sure I don't hurt myself.

I want to thank my swimming buddies (Michelle & Cheryl) for making it fun while I felt like I was gonna die. lol I really did enjoy every minutes (even if I can't walk today)

No races this weekend, but really hoping to get a good bike ride in..... After the Seahawks KICK BUTT!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and good luck to all that are racing.....

So after the Falcons "rise up" (local ad campaign) on the PNW Buzzards, will you still be riding?

Yes us PNW Buzzards will be pecking at the Falcons soon and I will still be riding. Wink lol

I have been waiting a long time for my team to get a new quarter back and to start climbing their way to the top.  Gotta love us underdogs with our short rookie. lol

You might find that a minor drop of the nose of the saddle eliminates the numbness.  I suffered your problem until i dropped the nose 1 degree.  A very small change the made a real positive change in my ride.  If you're riding and the contact patch is very small, you might want to move the saddle forward a few mm to provide a larger perch for your posterior. Mark the saddle rails with blue painters tape so you can return to the same spot if the change does not work out.

Go Hawks!

I actually bent the rail accidentally on it.....

So I went and tried out the Cobb V-Flow Plus. Rode it for a bit, then sold it. Couldnt ride it. Bought another Adamo Road.

Another thing to consider is the bike fit. A saddle a few degrees off can be such a pain in A$$.

Sometimes is a matter of a degree here or there. Or slightly going forward or back with the seat. Or slightly high. Or lower. I think you get what I am saying.

Here's how it'll work.  If you win,  you owe me a post marathon beverage of my choice (but I will need at least a few hours before I consume it since I have to get the kidney test at the ER as soon as I'm done!).  If I win, I owe you the same.  That way the loser (you) will still feel like a winner. Kiss

Wow, I think I am spoiled with the pools I swim at.  I have been swimming for 6 months and have only had to share a lane once.  Not many people swimming right now though as all the pools are out doors.  Not sure if I would know what to do if I showed up to the pool and it was busy. lol  Way to get after that bike ride!

Thank you everyone for your insights and personal thoughts.  It is very much appreciated.  I am still planning to bid on this ISM Adamo Road Saddle.  It is blue in color and mathces my bike colors.  I suspect I would be able to sell it for at least what I might purchase it for or maybe a little less.  Bidding should close tomorrow AM.  Sometimes you have to pay a little to find out what works and I don't mind buy some equipment used.  I'll keep my Profile Saddle until I know.

By the way to answer some of the questions...It is a road bike with clip-ons, a Profile Design Fast Forward Seat post.  I have had two fittings on it and feel like it is dialed in to suit me.  It is a Giant Defy 3 so the bike itself is a compact design which suits me as I have a short torso.  I love the bike.  For Christmas my wife bought me Shimano 105 Group Set to put on it and to change out my Sora Groupset that is on it.  I may or may not put the Shimano 105 Crank set on it as I already have an FSA Carbon Crank Triple that was put on last year new.  I will sell one or the other.

To be completely honest you need to dump (sell) the triple. As you progress you will NOT be using the triple very often.... And as you get better and faster people will make fun of you for having the "granny" gear. Change it all at once. You'll change the crank before you know it anyways. Just my thoughts...

I so agree Birdy!  I have a triple on my bike, but almost never use it.  Okay, maybe a couple of times last year.  But it was late in the day, after 60 or 70 miles in the heat and the wind and, man, was that was ever a steep little climb, and well okay, maybe I am carrying a bit of a "caloric reserve"

Seriously, if you are changing anyway, drop the triple and go with a compact if you think you need a bit more gear for hills like I do

Compact double for the win! I like it also for the reduced complication. I have a triple on my mtb and seem to screw up the downshifting every time! Lots of rollers here and i think its got the full range I need.Sitting here at a conference today so ironically lots of time surfing the web. Suzy, Colin is from Wisconsin, so you can feel happy with either outcome! Go Niners!

Kiss

You're on!

Just wanted to check in and say that neither posts like this:

"Shimano 105 Group Set to put on it and to change out my Sora Groupset that is on it.  I may or may not put the Shimano 105 Crank set on it as I already have an FSA Carbon Crank"

nor this:

"Would love to see that match-up!  While I am a GB fan, I am also a big Russell Wilson fan!"

make any sense to me.  I must live in a bubble, and there's no football nor bike mechanics in my bubble.

First time out on the trails since my race today.  It was HOT (55 degrees).  I wore shorts and a tech-t and sweat... a lot.  It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thinking about going back out tonight for a few more miles after dark.  I want to get a little more practice with my headlamp and flashlight before my nighttime trail half marathon in two weeks.  Hopefully I'll be able to finish my half before Julia comes flying in to win the full marathon Cool.  Not only can that girl swim, but she can RUN!

Have a good one.

We all want to be way faster than we are.  It takes time, lots of it.  My advice is don't get wrapped up in the numbers right now.  Begin to build the aerobic engine and it will come. My first several  years of running, I did zero speed work, nada, ziltch, none.  I got faster.  Why?  I put in the time at a relatively comfortable pace.  Over time, that comfortable pace became faster. Magic!

PS.  Congratulations on the 5K.  Celebrate the finish!

Congratulations on your 5K! And x2 on Suzy's advice. Beginning runners can make huge improvements just by running consistently and gradually increasing mileage at a comfortable pace. Also keep in mind that your pace in trail races (like the 5k you just ran) can be significantly slower than your road pace depending on trail conditions and how hilly/technical/crowded the course is and how comfortable you are with trail running. Keep at it!

Jayne - That whole bike discussion made my eyes glaze over. The only part I understood was the part about the granny gear, and the only thing I know about that is that I'm keeping mine no matter how much Birdy and his friends make fun of me. I'm running the half, not the full. The full would cut way too far into the post-race fajitas and margaritas with my tri club. I'll send you the info so you can join us!

Mike congratulation on the finish!  We all have to start some where.  My running is coming along nicely but my swim is very slow.  We all have strengths and week areas.  I see that your race was a trail run?  I have very little experience with trail running but I imagine that would be a little slower than you are on the road or sidewalk.  Anyway, way to get after it this morning.  I am jealous as I was all ready to do a 5k race myself this am but Active.com was wrong.  Race was never even planned.  Take care of yourself as you ramp up your run volume.  Glad to see you are going to follow the  10% rule.  Also, I totally agree with Suzy on not doing speed work early on.  I used to follow the 10% rule for distance but then did speed work while I was building my base.  Very bad idea.  Many injuries.  Good luck to you!

Thinking about going back out tonight for a few more miles after dark.  I want to get a little more practice with my headlamp and flashlight before my nighttime trail half marathon in two weeks.

I ran the other evening with my headlamp.  For the majority of the run it was sidewalk with a steady headlamp light.  When I hit the road with only the shoulder I moved it to blinking light; that was pretty awkward.  Felt like I was running faster and trying to look at my watch to check my pace was interesting.  Luckily the road had been paved recently so I didn't have up and downs and trip obstacles like you might find on a sidewalk or trail.
