I think there is a lot to be said for training the mind - mental toughness is a real thing and something I could use more of ( ignore the bad grammar). Congratulations!I'm straggling in here just like at the end of my half yesterday! I'm back in the old thread talking to myself like a crazy person, unless Allen is still checking in there. Thought it was odd that only a couple pages had happened since I last checked in...then realized I didn't get any email updates...thanks for finding me, Erin! Here's what I posted on the old thread: Well, I survived the half. It was really a training run (not for any other race in particular, but when you run 3 long runs before hand and pretty much nothing during the week, you just go ahead and call this a "training run." Training my mind to keep going when legs say stop?) and given my lack of preparation plus the very hilly terrain, I was aiming to just keep running the whole time and not hurt myself. It ended up finishing on 5 minutes slower than my best time (although, admittedly, I have never "raced" a half because I'm afraid of using up all my energy before the end of the race - need to work on that) and I'm not too worse for wear today. My knees hurt from the downhills and my quads are a little sore, but not as bad I feared. At the finish yesterday I could barely walk! My legs honestly felt like they had done a full marathon, not just half way. I'll work on getting the race report in, but that's the long and short of it. Oh, and my post-race firecracker wings and cajun fries were AMAZING!!! They taste better when you've earned them. I have dubbed those painful azz "training" runs MLAFS. (My Legs Are F**king Sore). <-- (link to a little write up I did about MLAFS - curious as to what the runners / coaches among us think) |

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for more, BUT this is great! I think I'll probably end up paying about $1,000 or less. That's assuming everyone pays for their auctions, etc. etc. of course. Awesome - enjoy the new ride! |

Master 1890 Gig Harbor | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED ArielLIlB - 2013-04-08 1:51 PM Question - is it ok to go for an easy run today? I'm still feeling some soreness (mostly quads and some front knee irritation) from the HM yesterday, but it's GORGEOUS out today - spring has finally come to Massachusetts. Or should I just go for a nice walk? You ran a 1/2 marathon without properly training for it. I believe you probably know the answer to this question.. (Don't run for a few days- go for a walk) |

Now there's rain, lightning and thunder. So who did it??? Who sent their crazy weather to my perfectly happy neck of the earth? On top of it, I was totally unmotivated all afternoon. Finally dragged myself onto the trainer and then upstairs for some core work when DH got home to watch kids. Sheesh. We're getting the same stuff. Missed my run this morning I went outside earlier this morning and it's calm and cool. Feels like autumn. But I already see the wind picking up again. Great weather for a couple of days... and then poor DH is going to have 90s by the end of his race on Sunday. |

I'm like, oh man, I hope I remember that for the race report! Nope. I totally write it in my head during the race. It's always way better there than it actually is because I end up forgetting half the things I want to say! Ahhhhhh...so the next step is to have a voice-activated ear piece to record a "running" commentary? (I like the first video best - but both are cool) Edited by Muskrat37 2013-04-09 10:20 AM |

That is so cool and will look even better in purple and tarted up. Tarted up - I love that! If I do it to everything I own, does that make ME a TART? It's so good to have you back. |

Master 1890 Gig Harbor | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED jobaxas - 2013-04-08 5:04 PM So piglet Andrew bike coach - I went to his gym last night to observe. He trains in the art of primal move and kettle bell and stuff that i am clueless about. He is ex armed forces, he was also on the Olympic team for Tae kwon do. So he kinda knows his stuff. The class last night was taken by his gorgeous girlfriend Shannon. It looked tough. I cannot commit to the classes I just don't have the hours in a week spare! BUT I have committed to PT with Andrew - we start Monday and I'm not afraid to say I'm afraid! So we do an hour on a Monday night 6.30pm then he gives me homework 2 x 20mins sessions to do at home. And Andrew is away this weekend, but he hasn't let me down, Shannon is taking me for a ride Sunday. Aren't I the luckiest girl in the world! That is bad azz! (If I swang that way, I would have a total Crush on this piglet you speak of) I did Taekwondo for 3 1/2 years... I loved to fight at the tournaments. I used to fight in the "old fat guy" division! (over 200 lbs, over 35 years of age) I miss it. |

For those of you who have been following, it's been a bureaucratic nightmare that only 3rd World and in particular Indonesian bureaucracy could possibly produce, rife with Catch-22s and impossible requirements. The President finally stepped in and had my dad killed off. THANK YOU. (This was a last resort but for ferk's sake, the poor guy died on March 15th and he wasn't dead yet! And without him being officially dead, we can't REALLY proceed with any of his VERY messy issues and paperwork and legal processes, both business and personal estate). I send love and strength as you begin the next step of this process. You've already been through so much hassle and runaround, I really hope the estate process gets a little easier. I know how hard it is to try to figure out all the loose ends - and I'm in America, where I think things are bit more "by the book." |

Andrew piglet bike coach has an ex I believe i mentioned we are 'friends' well mainly if I see her at an event or squad we chat, we are friends on facebook etc. I can't say we've socialised EVER. Today I get a message from her saying if I don't stop posting about how wonderful Andrew is and how much he is helping me etc she will have to block me on facebook. She works hard at removing ex's from her life and doesn't need the constant reminders. WTF! I have not responded. Really - a little childish I thought and I have no idea how to respond to that. Any ideas manatees? To be honest we are hardly friends, if she blocked me without telling me I would have taken months to notice. Blah blah blah - f**k that noise! (I know, you've already decided to that while I was sleeping). I swear, social media fosters childlike behavior, it's ridiculous. GROW UP OR SHUT UP LADY! |

jobaxas - 2013-04-08 9:22 PM I am friends with an ex-boyfriend on Facebook. I love my husband. Just want to get that out there. But I was having issues seeing pictures of this ex with his new (very young) wife and their beautiful new second home (vacation) with the new furniture being delivered, and the great parties, and vacations to Spain . . . Do I need to go on? LOLwow a facebook curveball. The thing is that I realized that this was my problem. Not his. I didn't say anything to him. I didn't unfriend him. Facebook has this wonderful feature. I don't have to see any of his wall posts in my feed. So I don't. Problem solved. As far as he knows, I am cool. And I don't torture myself with envy. Maybe you could suggest that to your friend. Since she's the one with the problem. :-) Thanks for that. I am trying to be understanding. She is actually moving to Miami in a month so the dust will settle. Melbourne isn't a massive city, they both work in the fitness industry - they are bound to cross paths one way or another. She clearly hasn't moved on from this relationship. Andrew is in a happy relationship, he has a VERY successful business...probably all the things she would like. He is now in her 'triathlon world'. I totally get how that would be unsettling. The community is small their paths will cross, just I was the first instance. Just happens I'm pretty facebook active! I'm not going to respond at all. I am free to post as I please (I will show some consideration), I am free to train with whom I please, and i am free to be friends with whom I please. I prefer BT anyhow. F Consideration! You don't have to show "consideration" for people who choose to be your "friends" on FB. If they don't like what you post - they can unfriend you (or block your posts from appearing in their feed). It's really quite simple. That said - I did a similar thing when I was getting over my ex wife. I unfriended all our mutual friends, and then I asked my family to "unfriend" her - or be "unfriended". (keep reading, it's not as bad as that sentence sounds). I knew I could just block her feeds -the problem for me was that her privacy settings were set to allow "friends of friends" to see her posts and pics. I found myself (I was still in love - don't judge) almost FB stalking her. I couldn't help myself. I would look at her page a few times a week - and seeing comments about different guys and all the fun she was having in her life - was driving me fricking crazy! So, because I didn't trust myself, I asked my family members (only a couple) to "unfriend" her. I did it with a little more tact than your friend did with you. I explained that it was nothing personal, and that I didn't care if they remained friends with her. I made it clear that this was not an ultimatum, but that because of my ex-wifes settings, I would have to unfriend them if they remained friends with her. It was part of my healing process. My brother didn't care - he never talked to her anyway...but my sisters had this hang up about unfriending her - even though they never conversed with her. So, I unfriended my sisters. It wasn't a biggie. We talk on the phone all the time, and I want to re-iterate.. I NEVER TOLD THEM TO NOT POST ON THEIR WALL, NOR DID I ASK THEM TO WATCH WHAT THEY SAY. So - I say "F" the consideration! Unfriend her. That will make her "difficult" decision, that she has clearly put herself in, easy for her. |

People really shouldn't listen to me about anything training related as I tend to do things injurious to myself, but in this case my position was backed up by an expert, so the blame for any injury lies with him!ArielLIlB - 2013-04-09 8:18 AM Muskrat37 - 2013-04-09 10:56 AM ArielLIlB - 2013-04-08 1:51 PM Question - is it ok to go for an easy run today? I'm still feeling some soreness (mostly quads and some front knee irritation) from the HM yesterday, but it's GORGEOUS out today - spring has finally come to Massachusetts. Or should I just go for a nice walk? You ran a 1/2 marathon without properly training for it. I believe you probably know the answer to this question.. (Don't run for a few days- go for a walk) But I"m a manatee and Yanti is my mentor - at least with respect to this decision! So I hit the road for a gentle "recovery run." I ran 2 miles, walked about one more after that. It was just so darn nice out, I had to run a little! So you HTFUd as suggested by Ms. A-M? Glad you enjoyed and not regretting! Don't worry, I think I signed a release of liability before I joined the pod . If we don't have one as a pre-req to joining, we should - there are MANY hazardous activities promoted in this forum that could cause serious bodily harm (DP anyone?) and subject the promoters of said activity to liability. Ann-Marie or I could probably throw something together... |

Well, you know the Manatee motto...maybe you should teach it to her We have a motto??? Or maybe i just have a bad memory DOOO EEET!!! You guys crack me up. It's so good to be back. |
