Aikidoman - 2009-02-10 11:32 AM So I saw a 'race' advertised last night.  It's a race to the top of the Stratospher hotel via the stairs...  Me thinks I will do it...  I might talk the better half to do it to.  Issue a challange (not to race, but just for her to do it).

Do WHAT? The race? You still horny?

OK, serious question.  If I race in the fundraiser, would some of you pledge?  It doesn't have to be much.  I only need $250 bucks, so 25 people giving 10 bucks, simple...  It can be done online and it's for the lung associates...

I think I want to get a 'feel' for the response before I sign up.  It's next friday, but pledges are due before March 1.

Sure, I can donate a little bit. Just promise if I ever fundraise for anything, that you'll donate to me I wish I'd been in TAN when I was fundraising for the century ride that I did last spring...

Pretty slick.  They give me a link to a website.  I give that to people and they pay by CC under my name...

They take cash, but prefer the web.  I think I will sign up, so I will send out info.

I think with work friends, BT/TAN people, and the fact that the wife knows half of Las Vegas, I will have it covered...

I wish I had more time, cuz if you raise over $1000, you get a free night at the hotel.  However, it IS the stratosphere, so that's not saying much.  But $10,000 got you a high roller suite.  That could have been cool...

Of course.  I donated to CAF last year.  I really like that organization.  We had some CAF racers at Silverman.  Inspiring...

Talk to your company and your wife's company and see if they will match donations or donate themselves.   Encourage the people who donate to do the same.  I've gotten some pretty big matching donations and it really helps.

Wait, you can't be happy alone?  What have I been doing for the last 26 years?  I don't give a sheot about valentines day, just another day.  If Hallmark didn't make cards for it, it never would have happened.

I'm not saying that you can't, but all the Valentine's Day media and marketing seems to imply that you can only be happy if you're with someone.

And after reading this a second time I guess I should be glad that I only listen to satellite radio, don't watch TV, and as of yet no store front has ever gone"psst....Sprint_DA....over here.  YOU'RE ALONE! HAHAHAHAHA!  THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU!"

But maybe that's just me.

Ooh V-Day conversation.

The radio show I listen to (semi-syndicated) keeps talking about V-Day and how you HAVE to get your significant other something nice, and you HAVE to be romatic becuase it's just expected, etc. This PISSES me off! Says who??

All you have to do is communicate with your SO. Last year, I bluntly said to Tom "Hey let's not celebrate V-Day... cool?" and all of his friends were like "you didn't really fall for that, did you?"

Which made me mad, because I was completely serious. I wasn't playing a game, or trying to trick him, or secretly planning a gift or something. Nope. I just think it's a stupid holiday and a big waste of money. I mean, if you want to get me something, why use some made-up holiday as an excuse? And I sure as hell don't EXPECT someone to buy me something. And in our financial situation it would actually be pretty dumb to spend lots of money like most people do (much like Christmas!).

So we don't celebrate - simple as that. It is not the big deal people make it out to be, in a relationship or not.

At the end does it say "This message brought to you by Hallmark, _____________ Jewelry Store, and every nice restaurant in town."?  Because it should.  That would also be entertaining.

I've spent Valentine's Day with someone exactly 3 times. The first time was the first "official" date with my first boyfriend. He picked the day, I did not. Second time, was actually a "singles" party that was hosted by my boyfriend - we'd just gotten together, but he didn't want to cancel the party, so he opened it up to couples. The third time, I didn't mention V-Day but he was planning the entire time to make me dinner, which he did, obviously, and of course I let him. I know how much it spooks men, so I never bring it up.
