OWS in Lake CDA this afternoon and it wasn't bad at all.  You can read more about it in my training log but it really was pretty comfortable after the first couple minutes.  Another 2 weeks and it'll be just fine!

Inside Triathlon (june issue) has a couple articles about how to train for IMCDA or something like that.  I got ticked off, since it does me no good with 13 days to go.

Also just recieved Triathlete magazine, and they have the 4 page ad (?) for IMCDA in the last half of Magazine.  Has one aerial picture of swim.   Wholly Moley it looks like a long long way to swim.

With all the rain, no need to worry about Forest fire smoke in the air.  At least for June.

This is crazy but, today my last 666 workout, 66 mile ride and 6 mile run, I know weird, but it poured rain! Yep here in the islands! The bike ride was so different as I had to force myself to take in water and gatorade, just had no desire without the intense heat I am use to, then the run, running in soaked socks, shoes, rain pellets in my face. What are the weather Gods doing to me? Prepping me?

Hope all had a good weekend.

Out in boat this morning.  Temp gauge had water temp at 65!!  I think you could do without neo hood and boots.  Really depends on you.  Bring it all and swim thu/fri morning to get a feel for it.  It will seem a little colder at 7am, but you will be exerting yourself!  Rules call for wetsuit up to 78, but it would seem real hot at 70!

65 is what it was last year for IMCDA, so it would be okay. I did the Moses Lake Tri this a.m. (about 1 1/2 hours from Cd'A, but a whole lot warmer), and surface temp was a glorious 73 degrees! Why can't we swim in Moses Lake and then bike to Cd'A? It was the first open water swim this year where my right hand has not gone numb! Bryan...any group swims planned for this week? I think I'll be coming over on Wed. to swim, or maybe Fri.

CDA is a 2 loop swim.  Picture was only 1.2 miles.  Sorry.

Swam in CDA on Sunday with my sleeveless suit.  Water was great, I would guess that it was around 65.  There were a few cold spots but nothing to worry about.  It is going to warm up some more but I would be happy with this water on race day.

I swam today in my local Tri Pond.  (Lake Padden).  Cool at first , but once you get going, the body heats up inside and the cool water actually felt good.   Even had a few gulps of water (by accident).

Just need to get some anti fog stuff for the goggles.

What is the forecast for the Weather. Seems like its been raining a lot. Give it to me straight. Those of us in the South have been getting some warmer weather but we sure would love a nice, mild day. What do the locals think?

Swim start from 2004.  If you are worried about the mass beach start you may want to wait until June 26th to veiw this.

After watching the start, specifically the last 20 seconds. Its comforting to know that I will not be the worst swimmer there on the 25th.,

Here's a link to the current 15-day forecast.  Can't say I'd put a lot of faith in it but at least it's a starting point.  It would be nice if it was in the mid to upper-70's for race day but low 80's isn't bad either.

I just watched the video.  Bad, bad idea.  Dear God, just shoot me now and put me out of my misery.  That is a LOT of freaking people!  At least there were a couple of folks doing the sidestroke and looking like they were lucky to be moving forward at all, so I won't be alone

Swim start 2004....at 5am it was overcast and windy and about 6:20am skies cleared and "ta-da"... a total chamber of commerce day!

Here is a locals weather forecast (15 years here).....

We can always count on the weather being pleasant (sunny) starting on the same day every year......JULY 5th.  Any day before then is suspect.  Be prepared....won't be cold, cold (though I did see snow on July 4th, 1992) but it could be anything from hot 90's to high 60's.

Our local weatherman is quoted in today's CDA Press as saying..."by June 25th, day of Ironman, we should see more sun than showers and the beginning of a warming trend".  Keep in mind this guy said it would be thunderstorms yesterday and it could not have been nicer!

There you have it!

Did you see the guy towards the end of the swim start "breaststroking"...it looked like he was expending no energy and just getting pulled along by the wash!!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I thought I had seen all the IMCDA home videos out there!  That was a great shot of the swim start...good perspective.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to mention that , but it's already late at night.   I'm doing another swim tomorrow in the Lake.  (day off) have to take advantage of my current motivation.

Remember everyone.  To trim you fingernails and toenails.  (Don't want to scrape me plus it would suck to have a torn nail that is snagging everything and bloody for 140 miles.

Don't cha just get tired of non Tri people asking you if you are READY?  Or "do you think you'll finish?"

My LTS owner gave me the best pat on the back (something like that) . We were chatting about training and injuries and she said she had no doubt that I would finish with no problems.  (my caveat) as long as I don't go STUPID and try to match other peoples pace.

Funny that you mention it Spence.  Here is a conversation from just a couple days ago:

Friend:  "So, when is the running thing you've been training for?"

Me:  "Two weeks"

Friend: "How long is it again?"

Me: "2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run"

Friend:  "So, do you think you can actually do it?"

I drop my bike and gear bag off with Tribike Transport in about an hour.  I guess it really is right around the corner

I'm using them also. I drop off on Thursday. Kind of nervous about it, but I figure there would be a better chance of bike getting lost by airline than by truck.
