Member 178 Sioux Falls, SD | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread Im pumped they have the polos. Meets my work dress code as well.and a good way to show off. I saw then for other 70.3 events and was hoping they had it for racine. Looking forward to the 11:00 swim with you BTers! maslowrun - 2012-07-13 8:26 PMmaslowrun, Chad , bib 1561, goal: just finishWe got to town way early and I am so happy I was able to check in and check out the beach and transition area. Swag bag had a supplement shaker bottle thing in it, a shirt, couple sample bars/gels, bunch of coupons and adverts for other races and buisnesses. I ended up buying a polo (fits my employers dress code) and a shirt that has all participant names name on it. (really, really tiny type) but its cool. |

Extreme Veteran 492 NW Arkansas | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread Pretty hard and long rain storm today. Power went out at the convention center for a bit. Wind blew hard for a while, too. Blowing in the storm I guess. Another chance tomorrow and Sunday. Hopefully, nothing until the afternoon both days if at all. We drove most of the bike course. Concrete is definitely a bit bumpy getting out of downtown. Some really good asphalt going west, but also some asphalt with a lot of cracks on the west side of the course. Right around the halfway mark is a horrible section, maybe .25-.5 mile long. Bad, bad pavement, and then directly to very smooth. A few rolling climbs but by and large a super flat course, at least compared to what I'm used to. I'm heard varying descriptions of the water temp, from 62-75. Someone said they read it was possible to not be wetsuit legal. I find this hard to believe, even with the warm ambient temps. Any locals with knowledge? |

Bumps are PLENTIFUL but none worse than on the short bit of 3 mile Rd... That's borderline dangerous! I can't believe they are using it... I think there's an aid station there thou... perhaps to get people to slow down there? The rest is manageable but that part is gonna be ROUGH (pun intended)! |

New user 8 | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread I hear you about the ride. I live in an EXTREMELY rolling hilly part of northern Michigan and had to train my last week on the trainer. Not enough flat stuff to keep my heart rate down! Not liking the cracks and bumps though. |

Extreme Veteran 499 Racine WI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread Good luck to all the BT'ers tomorrow. Have a great day. I'll be out at one of the run aide stations. Just a word of caution on the roads for the bike. I have read through the posts and everyone seems aware of the "bumpiness" of the roads out in the county, but having done this race 3 times, I have always found the worse section to be Main St coming back into town. Part of it is the sectioned concrete, part of it is being at the end of the bike and being tired of being on the bike, and part of it is thinking ahead and not paying attention to the road. Its pretty rough and uneven coming back into town, so please be careful out there. Again, have a great race everyone, and hope to see you all at the Mile 1 run aide station... |

Also saw someone cut the run course. Unbelievable. If I wasn't delirious by that point, woulda tried to memorize his number. |
