How fun! I'm feeling kind of wistful because my old housemate in LA accidentally threw out a box of my stuff that I'd asked him to keep. He was very apologetic but the stuff is gone. And it was just stuff, nothing valuable, but sentimental: all my race medals from the States, handmade keepsakes that friends had given me that were too bulky or heavy to take back right away, the DVD of me running my first marathon (endurance race, really), some beautiful signed books and rare copies, and several journals' worth of my writing. I'm feeling the loss pretty keenly, but I've lived without these things for the last few years and all the memories are firmly imprinted in my heart. |

I would get over it, but I would be pissed none the less. When I was in the Navy, President Clinton and Hillary came to our carrier. I was fortunate enough to be one of the 50 sailors chosen to have dinner with them, and I sat 2 chairs down from Hillary Clinton. After the dinner, there was a chance for auto graphs. Everyone was handing them napkins and paper to sign, I asked Hillary to sign my Uniform shirt. She did! Then I made my way to Bill and he also signed it. Big letters, all the way across my back. I mailed the shirt to my mother for safe keeping. I haven't seen it since!! I have asked her for it - I have even dug through her attic and old boxes when I visited and haven't been able to find it. I'm sure she either through it out on accident, or hocked it for something she thought was important at the time. Hell, maybe she washed it and ruined it. I don't know. I keep expecting her to fess up one day. Who knows. Maybe it will turn up in a box someday, but I don't buy it. How the F do you misplace / lose / destroy / give away or sell a navy uniform shirt that was worn by your son and autographed by the president and his wife? Uggghhhh - now I'm off to call my mom. LOL Sorry for your loss Yanti - that totally sucks. |

When we were in the States in 2007 we posted some stuff home that we didn't want to cart around for 6 weeks, we have never seen it again. thankfully it wasn't either expensive or important but who knows what happened to it. |

Veteran 2441 Western Australia | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED Can someone please send some of your winter weather my way - I will even accept snow at the moment. We are part way through our third "heat wave" for the year. Which here is classified as a run of 4 or more days in a row where the temp is over 100*F. So Saturday was 38*(100), Sunday was 41* (102) yesterday was the same and really muggy they said it was going to rain but it never did, today will be a wonderful 42* (107) and at 5am it's already 30* (86). I am so very over it and my dogs are not happy!!! Ok so now that I have had my little rant I'm off for what is supposed to be a 30 minute run, we'll see because I so can't be bothered. |

I got home after swimming and started watching tv, I stayed there and took a nap. I figured I would switch to a 30 workouts in 30 day streak but that fell apart yesterday as I spent most of the day reading for my class. So, with the new week will come a new attempt at starting a new streak. I last week I missed several of my bike workouts so I need to improve that this week. I hope everyone has a great week. Darn it! Will stay tuned for the start of a new streak. How's the class going? Have a great week! Funny first thing I check is the cap colour - Lt Pink. lovely. |

I remember living in the UK and my parents were away, just me at home one day with the dog, the police knocked on the door and said you gotta get out now. i was in my robe not a stitch under it, I grabbed the dog and off we went - apparently a bomb scare a few doors down where some Irish students lived.
