Yeah. It's all the rage here. My dad had it done. He didn't lose any weight, but he does seem immortal and keeps getting younger and healthier looking. 83 turning 84 this year, and nary a wrinkle or a grey hair. But that's because he made a deal with the Devil. Something about taking over his job. ![]() | ![]() I found 2 chihuahuas on my run yesterday. I was SO ready to take them home with me! But darn it if the universe didn't lead me to a guy's house, who used to live on the other side of the duplex where these dogs lived, changed out of PJ pants and one sock, to walk me there himself. Strange, strange coincidence that I just happened to knock on HIS door..?! The little one was a teacup, had to be like 3 pounds! When I was carrying both of them I put the little one on the bigger one's back, like it was riding a pony. Adorable. |

I've been kinda wanting to get another dog (or two) lately, but I just don't have the time to devote to it. I'm honestly not sure how I ever had the time. when you have a little buddy you make time! adopting my doggie changed my LIFE. Oh, I know. I did it for years, but right now with triathlon and other stuff, I just don't see where I could make time (aside from reducing training). prioritize, i guess. people do triathlons and raise babies, dogs have to be easier than that.
True, but I also have to be cognizant and realistic of how much time I have to offer. Right off the bat, I have two days a week that are completely unchangeable that I'm gone for a full 16 hours of those days. I don't even get to train on those days unless I go for a run after 10pm. Sleep 7-8 hours a day, gone for work 10-11 hours per day. That doesn't leave much and more importantly that is a LOT of time for a pup to be stuck alone and waiting for me. Add in training time and it is even slimmer.
So, you're right that it is prioritizing, but the priority right now is training and triathlon... but, I can't help but look at puppy faces and think of how great it'd be to have a dog in the house again. |

I guess I think of it this way. A dog is a pack animal. If his pack (you) are not at home the majority of the week, then he is spending more than 1/2 of his time sleeping (getting fat) and trying to entertain himself (by chewing things up). They can kennel for 8 hours continuous which is actually better for them than to let them sit in the yard or roam the house looking for something to make them sick. I would love a german shepherd or a Belgian Mallinoux because they can go all day but are smart enough to be trained. But I have a feeling our next dog will be another little, white, furball. But I'll love it just the same. |

ummm, just wear underwear around cats at ALL times. Especially if they are not declawed. |

No rush, though. haha..."not an option". I'm an animal person: lizards, hamsters, birds, cats, dogs, horses. Though I must admit my faves have been the dogs and horse, I need a warm little buddy around to feel truly happy. And due to college dorm rooms or apartment rules or classroom guidelines, I have settled for the smaller, more "appropriate" creatures when I must. |

I don't dislike cats, in fact I lived with a girl once and together we had five of them... I just completely HATE litter boxes. And as Matt said... the smell. The smell of cats is WAY worse than the smells of having dogs, IMO, and these days I'd just as soon have no critters than cats. Besides, I want my big fluffy critters to come hang out with me when I want them to (dogs), not when they feel like it (cats). |
