Here are my totals (had a week long illness, a vacation with no pool access and a minor bike accident that hampered my monthly totals)....looking at this I need to get moving: Swim: 18,500 meters Bike: 402 miles Run: 97 miles No lingering issues from the bike accident (either to you or the bike), I hope. The bike survived with no damage. Besides my pride - no real lingering issues. Tore up my elbow pretty good and bruised my hip. The bloody elbow kept me out of the pool for a week. Worst part was that I tore my brand new tri-shorts. |

I'm staying at the La Quinta in CdA itself. I'm trying to figure out the car situation. Once we get everyone to CdA, how much do we need a car? Are there restaurants etc. walking distance? Which La Quinta? There are 2 La Quinta hotels: "La Quinta Inn & Suites Coeur d'Alene" and "La Quinta Inn & Suites Coeur d'Alene East".
The one on East Sherman. I think its Coeur d'Alene East. I heard from Flyboy that I will be better off with a car for in town and getting to race start. Wasn't sure how I'd get from airport either, so we'll just check that off the list and get a car we can all fit in for moving around town. Thanks. |

Bummer about the shorts, but glad it wasn't the bike. |

Regular 389 | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread 4 more weeks of big volume for me. Last year at this time I was in Texas IM and got sapped by the heat. Their forecast is very nice this year, go figure. I'm training in 80's-90' degrees right now (N. Florida). The negative about racing too late in the season. Oh well. |

The negative about racing too late in the season. Oh well. I'm doing Texas again this year and still think the weather that is being forecast is a big lie. All those IMTX'ers are getting excited, but I know better. This is year #3 for me down there and I'll be back again next year. I'm looking forward to a nice cold swim up there in CDA next month. (remind me I said that when I complain about how cold it is) |

New user 9 Saskatoon | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Hi everyone! I rented a house a few months ago, but my family backed out and I have 2-3 rooms available. It is rented for the week June 25 to July 2. Each room will be $225 for the week (or $650 for the 3 rooms for the week). The website for the house is here: http://www.vacationhomerentals.com/42398 It's a really great house and I've rented from these people before... and will probably rent again next year! Please let me know if you are interested. It would be a huge waste to have an empty big house. My training went horribly this year. Here in Saskatchewan we had the worst spring ever! I have done two outdoor bike rides. I transferred to a half IM in October and am planning to race CDA next year to finish up my unfinished business. This year training went so brutally for me - injuries, family stresses, and life in general. I'm looking forward to getting a good base this year and checking this race off my "to do" list! Hopefully you all are having fun in your training! |

Master 2468 Muskego, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread How's everyone doing? Just finished IMTX yesterday and I'm already ready to work towards CDA. Need to take it easy but I have a good plan, starts with a lot of swimming and aqua jogging to recover then a couple of weeks of regular training before a 10 day taper. Just wanted to see how everyone else is doing. Feel ready? Not? Hope you all had a good weekend. --Chris |

Veteran 493 Cloverdale, BC | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Note to self: Don't sign up for a Strava challenge that involves 16 hours of biking in one week while you are near the peak of Ironman training. 27.5 hours total training in one week is a tad excessive even for me. Glad that week is over. |

I hesitate to say it, but I'm feeling good (knock on wood). Just trying to take it one day at a time though. |

Glad that week is over. Yeah, I was tempted because I was getting in a lot of outdoor bike miles, but this week is a bit of a step back week and that mileage would have eaten me up. I hope you can take a little extra rest to rebound from that. |

What's prompting the move to Italy in 2015? |

Looked up your results. It looks like your training and preparation has really paid off. You really held it together for the run. And your swim time has improved incredibly since last year. Congratulations.

Member 87 | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Wow, papson. Four IMs in that period is pretty impressive. Hope your recovery goes well and your training in the interim is productive. I'm doing alright. My plan is pretty run-heavy, as I'm trying to parlay my IM fitness into an early fall marathon -- hopefully with a BQ. The run emphasis clearly affects my bike performance. I'm getting the bike time in, but my power output is way down. Tempered expectations for CDA time result. It's my first IM, so just finishing will be great. Good luck to everyone as we make our final push. Edited by rbhancock1 2014-05-19 10:19 AM |

Glad that week is over. My friend did that last week, just the riding, not with IM training. That is a lot of riding. He was carefully watching the clock at the end of the century we did yesterday. He didn't want to have to ride around the parking lot for 5 minutes! Nice work knocking that out. |

Veteran 930 Morgan Hill, California | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Last week was a big week for me. First 40 mile run week ever for me, and had a nice bike and swim week, too. Feeling good today, but very tired. More sleepy than body tired. This week will be more bike focused, planning on getting first 200 mile bike week in. Overall, I feel like I'm making progress. Very glad to have most of the logistics taken care of. Hotel, flight, car etc. Now just to focus on the last push to the big day! |

I am been having major fits with my position on my Cervelo. Seemed I could only make it 3-4 hours before by shoulders and neck were killing me and keeping me completely out of aero. I went back in my logs and found the longest I had ever ridden my TT bike was 66 miles before this year. Guess that is why I don't remember it being so bad. I finally went to the LBS and asked for some help, we decided to move the front end up to get some more comfort. Rode 100 miles last Saturday and it went great! I stayed in aero the whole time and felt really good, nutrition went better and I didn't lose much if any speed. I really needed a good long ride to boost the confidence, finally got it and now I am really looking forward to the race. Have two more 100+ mile rides, but now I can actually look forward to them. Going to hit the OWS this weekend, water temp is 58-60 degrees so it should be pretty close to what CDA will be. |

New user 22 Maple Valley, Washington | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Looks like the 2014 Athlete Guide is now available. Some interesting changes this year include no dinner at the Welcome Ceremony instead a food voucher is given to the athletes to use in town. Also it appears the Mandatory Athlete briefing is available at various times on Thursday, Friday and Saturday instead of being part of the Welcome Ceremony. The race is approaching fast. Hope everyones training is going great. |

I woke up Sunday and all I could think about were the hills at CdA I had a 28 hour drive home to NorCal, my feet are so swollen! :p I hope to get back into full training this weekend. No injuries, just a huge blister on the bottom of my foot. |
