So I took the ol' mountain bike out for a ride last night.  Hit the trails after dark w/ a friend of mine I hadn't ridden with in a long time.  It was my first ride in a couple months, combined w/ the dark and still my biggest concern was being poisoned by my camelback that had been sitting unused in the garage for a couple months.  No crashes, no poisoning and lots of fun.

If you haven't seen this check it out.

http://www.swimsmooth.com/

Haven't downloaded it yet due to being sick and not giving a crap about anything but sleeping, but it got some good reviews over on ST.  Will be getting it tonight.

With a little notice I could do an evening or weekend ride and show you around Galbraith up here.  Some great riding (and running) to be had, practically within the city limits.  Let me know

TrevorC - 2009-08-20 10:32 AM So MG runners help me out here.......
We are in the market for a treadmill. I prefer the outdoors in the winter until a certain temperature.
But for the bride, its difficult for her to get outside during the day sometimes, and she thinks she can get some miles in with the girls playing downstairs. I have been looking around and the market is so all over the map. $200-$6000.
We are looking roughly around the 1.5K mark. Would love a higher end used one..but would settle for a newer middle of the road.
Any suggestions..Remember I ain't Suzy-size.

This one.....

Neither is the man....he weighs around 185lbs.  I have had three TMs and Precor has been the best brand thus far.  The belt system they use absorbs some level of the shock and doesn't send it back to you.  It is quiet.  You can really reduce the cost by eliminating the bells and whistles.  Personally, I would like one with no programs only manual mode and really don't care if I have a decline either.  This one was out of the $1,500 you quoted (but Precor has less expensive models), but given the economy you may be able to deal more than we were able to....and isn't the $$ stronger in Canada anyway?????

We are at almost $0.92 right now....So we are reasonably close to par with the US. There definitely is an advantage to buying some bigger tickets items still in the US. (ie. vehicles) The sticker prices, even with shipping alot of them are cheaper in the US. Alot of people are hitting Washington and Texas(not sure why so far south) and picking up vehicles, paying duty and saving big $$ on them. I guy in my office bought a Saab from Spokane,Wash and saved $14k versus buying it here.
I just cant see shipping a TM up here>>>i sense a wekeend project coming.

unbelievabley busy at work the last little while .. out of the house about 5:15 am and not home until about 10:00 pm.  Just enough time to grab a bite and hit the hay before the next day. I think part of the reason I am so tired is the stress at work. Hopefully will slow down a bit so I can relax and train. Only about 3 weeks until race day.

Good luck to everyone racing on the weekend.

Sorry to hear that.  Is there anyway you can steal away for an hour at lunch to swim or run?  I would love to set my trainer up in the office but I don't think they would go for it

SSMinnow - 2009-08-20   check out this video at about 5:55-6:20 into it

http://www.universalsports.com/mediaPlayer/media.dbml?id=421587&db_oem_id=23000

Great video.  Good information that is broken down well and understandable for all levels.
Always liked Bob...he is a class act.  Represents US well.
I am a little suprised they didn't put Phelps in a panel suit so you could really see his position and rotation in the water.  Phelps is an incredible machine.
Katie is so smooth.  Can tell she is distance.  She's had a tough year, but she'll be back.
Got bored during the flip turn section....it's just me, not the video.  I look forward to ows so not to do them. I find myself resting during the flip (I am lazy)...I would lose so much time if I were racing them.

Hope everyone is having a great afternoon

Hey John, I will waiting patiently for the video of your finish this weekend.

Suzy, do you really think 185 is big?  And thanks for the swimming video. Hopefully I get a few minutes to check it out tomorrow.

Trevor, we had a Keys Fitness and were very pleased.  Sold it to a neighbor when we moved to this house.  It was very similar to this one and we payed about 1,400 at a Play It Again Sports...http://www.treadmilltips.com/encore-ec-6500-treadmill.html

Strong motor, great warranty (although we never needed it), big, soft running platform, simple controls, plenty of workouts plus you could make several custom workouts plus running completely manually.

How did I become the mini me of this conversation?   Just to set the record straight, my TM is the wider, longer version.  Size matters.

How did we get to comparing size of, ahem,  TM's?  Did I land in COJ?

WOW!  Lots going on here.

Awesome your neighbor flies the colors but tell him to water that plant on the corner.  Kudos to him for driving a Ford.  Even that color green.

That dog needs the groomer.  WAY to hot not for him/her not be shaved.

Hedge clippers... enough said.

Turn the sprinklers on.. its starting to burn.

Round-up on the expansion joints in driveway.

Sand that step off to the right in the second image.  Then stain.  If not, its looking like you might get a big a$$ splinter seeing as how you haven't done a thing to it in a few years.

Nice ride!

They are Bontrager Race X Lites.  Not the most racey of race wheels but they are what Doug got for his birthday.  Mine are last years model and are the "oldest" thing on the bike.  My friend is a short guy who can't ride stock so everything is an upgrade; carbon frame, carbon cranks, seat posts, handle and aerobars, all Dura-ace components, etc. and then his "crudy old wheels" according to him.   And the best part is I paid about 40% of what this bike is worth!!

So you don't like the red tape hu?  I couldn't decide between the black or the red - so I went with a splash of color.  Looks more like fire this way I thought.

Tony,  I wasn't planning on getting a bike.  My friend offered it to me this summer but at a higher price and I couldn't pull the trigger.  He really wanted to move the bike now so he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
