Jer - I think the evenings get cool enough through Oct to be pretty sure IMAZ WILL be wetsuit legal. But there are no guarantees I am sure. But holy hell a 2.4 mile swim no wetsuit? YIPES! Is IMFL not wetsuit legal?

IMFl happens to be a two loop swim where you actually get out of the water between loops (i.e. 1.2ish and break before second loop), and is in the Gulf of Mexico which i believe would be cooler than Tempe town lake based upon water volume.  However, Kona in October is no wetsuit - so i was just wondering if it is the same USAT ruling on temps on race day, or if IM races have a slightly different set of rules (sorta like those cut-off times)

If anyone knows - please chime in.

Jer - Ironman does follow the same USAT rules (making wetsuit rulings based on raceday water temps)

According to TTL water temp history, you should be MORE THAN FINE!

The ruling is that it has to be above 84...umm I do believe in Global Warming but that ain't gonna happen in November!

I think IMAZ is already frying Jerry's brain, I don't think water volume makes all the difference when it comes to temperature My teaspoon of ice water is boiling HOT!!!

Agreed. Further proof is his thought that the temperature at which you would pass out and drown in your wet suit because it's too hot would vary based on the name of the race.

I am going to swim and then bike the rest of the time while you all run. I am afraid of hurting myself before the race so I won't run.
