I rode my BLUE outside today.  I've been in for 40 min and can almost feel my toes

shoot!! out on your bike in the cold? you are one didicated cyclist!! i parked my bike until spring (or until i can get a trainer) i love to ride, but i'm not a big fan of being cold. (although, if it's RAINING, that's another story LOL)
dh and i are starting marathon training. i think i'm going to do the rock n roll marathon in seattle on june 27. it'll be my first, and i don't have a time goal. looking too far ahead on the training plan makes me a little twitchy, so i'm trying to sort of "one day at a time" it.
i'll go out running this morning, which will give me my 5 for the week, i'm just waiting for it to hit 40 degrees (it was 37 when i got up, and i think it's 38.8 now-we're getting closer LOL)

I usually bail out and ride thedrainer when it's cold.  BUT, I need to get used to my BLUE so I can figure out what needs tweaked for a fit--plus I want to be used to handling her in real ride situations since a trainer just doesn't give that.

I told my husband that I wanted to ride her today and he laughed cause he knew I'd go out on her if it was -40 today.

Don't pressure yourself for a time goal for the first marathon.  The goal is FINISHING.  Pay attention to the course though.  One of my friends from swm did the full mary last weekend for his first.  Didn't pay attention to the fact that the first 8 miles are flat/fast so about mile 18 he blew up.  He finished, just not at his goal pace.

I can only imagine how those toes must feel... I didn't feel mine for the first 10 minutes of the race, but on the bike, they just never defrost again.

Hello team,

I was able to do the race and I am sooooo happy, but right now, I am just tired and need some rest for the remainders of today. Still not quite healty yet, so I will keep a low profile for the rest of the day. But.... Even with the cold, I was able to stay under 30 minutes for the 5K and that was my goal... As I said... I am very happy!!!

And now I think I will get something to eat and then leave some inspires for our teammates that haven't logged their workouts yet.

Happy Saturday everybody!!!

Glad you were able to get out and race!  And coming in under goal too!  Get some rest.  You'll beat that cold into submission sooner or later

Maybe if I had a new bike I could convince myself to ride in the cold too That's some dedication.  Now warm those toes up!

One day at a time is a great approach.  Those long training runs later in the plan won't seem as daunting after you have been building your base up for several months.

Enjoy your 40 degree run. I just glanced out my window and we have a layer of white stuff

i ran. i am one dedicated mother trucker!! the first mile i was fighting tears because i was cold, but then i warmed up and really enjoyed how beautiful it is out today. there's a new layer of snow up on the mountains, and the sun was hitting it, it really is breath taking out there. i ran the three miles on my training plan for the day (week one's long run LOL) and that brings me up to my 5 for the week. phew!!
on to next week!!

ran another 3 this morning-a neighbor saw me, and curious about the whole "marathon" thing, paced me in their car, chatting for like 5 minutes. it was lovely.

Happy Sunday Team,

We had a great workout week. But ABrady42 could use some inspires to log his workouts - so pls everybody, stop by his blog!

Was planning a rest day today, in order to finally get over the cold. But went out for a walk and did my pushups. The day here is just too lovely not to be outside at least for a little bit.

Next week I'll be off and for tonight I am hoping BF is taking me out to the Mexican, for whatever reason, I am craving fish tacos all day already.

Wow I love the thick air at sealevel, 7:38 min mile for 8 miles woot, and just shy of 19 mph for 36 ish miles. Too bad I will aclimate in a few days., and then have to go back to high altitude again.

Planning to go for a walk tonight when I get home from work.

I can start running tomorrow with permission and instructions to take it slow...I know it is going to be hard, but at least now I can start working back to where I was 2 weeks ago.
