Liam has strep and possible scarlet fever and I have to take Cole in to the doctor later today. The school nurse called while I was in the waiting room with Liam saying he had a nasty looking throat. Talking with the doctor about Cole's symptoms and the doctor said to bring him in ASAP. There is something about this time of year that does not agree with my kids. Cole is sick almost every year this time. His birthday is Sunday and since his first birthday, he's been sick just about every year. Very weird. Scarlet fever? I didn't think kids got that anymore..... Hm. Wikipedia, here I come.... "Scarlet fever is a disease caused by exotoxin released by Streptococcus pyogenes. The term scarlatina may be used interchangeably with scarlet fever, though it is commonly used to indicate the less acute form of scarlet fever that is often seen since the beginning of the twentieth century.... "Other than the occurrence of the diarrhea, the treatment and course of scarlet fever are no different from those of any strep throat. In case of penicillin allergy, clindamycin or erythromycin can be used with success. Patients should no longer be infectious after taking antibiotics for 24 hours. Persons who have been exposed to scarlet fever should be watched carefully for a full week for symptoms, especially if aged 3 to young adult." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarlet_fever I didn't think so either. Who knew? Not so fun fact but I had scarlet fever as a kid. Guess he's following in my footstep???? |

Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: Hugs - February Challenge billsorg - 2010-02-22 9:25 AM I'll add to the puke stories... my 12-year-old is puking today. This is my daughter that has cerebral palsy. These stomach bugs really hit her hard. She's non-verbal, so we can't always tell when she feels yucky. But there's no mistaking it when the bed & floor are all pukey. BLLLEECCCHHHH! Anyway, it's going to be a long day for my wife at home. I think I'll pick up dinner from our favorite italian restuarant on the way home tonight. I got in ZEEEERO workouts this weekend. I planned on doing a 1 hr drainer ride followed by 1/2 hr on the dreadmill yesterday, but I was a little hungover from our first adults night out in forever. But it was worth it! I'll hit the gym for a 5-6 mile run at lunch. Go Hugs. Missed this the first time but Bryan brought home dinner tonight and it meant A LOT to me. After an insane day, no one wants to cook dinner. I'm sure your wife appreciated it too! How's your daughter? And I haven't gotten a workout done in two days either. First time in a long time. |

Heard a quip about this on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me yesterday and thought of you Dee!!
Music fans who spend hours selecting their perfect jogging playlist now face a new dilemma. What track to listen to as you Taser someone? A combined stun gun-MP3 player may well be the most bizarre gadget to be unveiled at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The device - formally known as the Taser Music Player Holster - has already earned the nickname the iTaser. It has your name on it Dee!! Edited by KOM 2010-02-22 9:46 PM |

Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: Hugs - February Challenge Morning Hugs. I have bad news. I am gonna have to either pull out or revise my goal. No way I can run with my sick crew. Nicole, can I switch my love goal from running to biking? I can bike away on the trainer! Canceled our hotel reservation for Hyannis. Bryan is still gonna run (as long as he isn't sick!) and the kids and I are gonna cheer our heads off (as long as we aren't sick). No race for me. Bummed out but I am switching my focus to my HIM. No point in crying over it, right? |

Here's the plan... I feel your pain... I have a 20 mile "date" tonight with my husband and our trainers... I figure I need to do 10 trainer miles A DAY until the end of the month to make my goal. Not impossible, since I have lots of 24 stacked up to watch... We can do it!!!Mon - 6 mi @ lunchtime Wed - 8 mi in the morning Thur - 6 mi @ lunchtime Sat - 6 mi when I can squeeze it in x2 - I'm planning on hitting 105%+ to do my part to give the team an extra boost. Expert 1246 West Grove, PA | Subject: RE: Hugs - February Challenge Morning, hugs... I'll be hitting the gym at lunch for a spin class. Then I'm back on the treadmill tomorrow morning for my 8 mile run. This has been a tough month for our group with illnesses, injuries and the dreaded February winter blues. But we're still within striking distance of winning this thing, so that's a testament to the "Huggie Toughness"! Hang in there hugs and finish strong! We're getting 1-2 inches of rain... yes, that's right... I said RAIN! Yippee! Wash away all this nasty white stuff! |

Expert 1246 West Grove, PA | Subject: RE: Hugs - February Challenge I got in a pretty intense spin class at lunchtime and now I'm completely whooped. I just got some coffee (usually a no-no for me in the afternoon!) so I can stay awake for Lost tonight. Then the alarm will be set for 5:15 for my 8 mile run in the morning... BRING IT! 5 days to go and 17 miles to run in February! BTW... has anyone heard from Andy (ashort33)? He's always been one of our most "vocal" teammates, but we haven't heard from him in quite a while. I see he still has recent workouts in his logs... Andy... are you out there??? |
