Hmm. I'm liking the 74 & the "few" in front of "showers".

To me the daily low is more significant in terms of attire. If it is 35 at the end of the swim that means doing something different to 60 at the end of the swim. For the run, if it is 74, thats easy :-)

Well said. Makes me wonder whether it might be worth using a "marathon sweater". I.e., the kind you buy at the second-hand & dump it along the way.

Oh boy!  It's looking nicer and nicer.  Those showers that were being forecast over the past few days seem to be getting pushed off until Sunday. The Friday night low as of this morning is forecast at 50F.  Sweet!

I pulled this from weather.com.  I either use them or wunderground.com.  I don't care for accuweather.com... as they never seem to be "accurate" in regards to our local forecast.

WOW! Now that's a forecast I can live with

1 week. No, I'm not going psychotic or anything...

Thurs, show up in Wilmington. Get race packet. Run 20 min. Check into hotel.
Fri swim at 7:00. Look at stuff at the expo (probably the same 10 kiosks as last year). Go to briefing. Take nap. Bike 20 minutes. Dinner at Fat Tony's at 4:30. Vibrate
Sat, give up trying to sleep somewhere near 3:00 and go ahead on with the day.
Sun, try to find where to rent or buy crutches to go on the awards cruise.

Hey, where is everyone staying? I am at the Holiday Inn Sunspree on Fri night and at the Hilton on Sat night (was late getting organized so mixed and matched). But yeah, I like the weather.com forecast better than Accuweather, thats for sure. Funny, accuweather hasn't changed that forecast in days...

The relay teams I am going with rented a condo in Wrightsville beach.  I am guessing less than a mile from the swim start.  1 week!  I will be there Thursday afternoon, hoping to make the Friday morning swim, then bike check-in, etc.

1st and most importantly, I am doing the HIM.

I have rented a townhome right on front street, so if I ever finish my race I will be able to sit on the porch and watch all of you. Any special beer requests for you 2nd lap of the run?

I'll pass on the beer if you can give me a piggy-back for a few miles! Heck, with your running pace, even with me on your back I'll still pick up time!

Fairfield Inn and Suites.  Leaving Orlando, Florida on Wednesday morning and will be in Wilmington in the afternoon.  Going to get in a quick swim Wed and will if time permits drive the bike course or part of it anyway.  Will join you on Thursday.  Got the bike tuned up, lubed, and she is ready to go.  Next phase is to not go stir crazy next week with the low training volume.

Are you planning to cover your bike?   I was thinking of making a trash bag bike cover...

Will wait for a couple of hours after bike check-in starts to check-in my bike.  Mainly to miss the initial lines.  Not sure if you are assigned a specific spot or just a specific rack.  Will probably cover my seat with plastic bag.

I'll check it in after nap in the afternoon. I've got a 20 minute ride as my last ride to do.

Probably put a trash bag over the rear wheel and pedals to keep any rain off the chain if there's any in the forecast.

If I remember correctly, you are assigned a rack, but not a space. I dropped mine off last year at 4pm range in there were no lines.

Some folks put their old swim caps on their arm pads and seats to beat the showers, great idea that works.

You staying along the run course? PLEASE play some music! Any kind, anything! I love the people who have the hoses going and are outside their homes cheering us on but in the dark of night at the end of the day a little Lady Gaga or Johnny Cash or WHATEVER has a huge effect! Saturday night in Wilmington baby, Crank It Up!

The race packet says you get a rack but no specific spot on that rack. I think it is 6 bikes per rack. Yeah, qrkid, you'd better put on a show outside your house! Music, beer, maybe some belly dancing. The pressure's on! :-)

Daniel G,

What's the address/location of the Friday 4:30 pm dinner at Fat Tony's? Count me in.

I'm also planning on being at the pre-race pasta supper on Thursday. Anybody else?

I'll be sleeping in late on Friday, so I won't make the swim.

I. AM. SO. READY. TO. GET. THIS. OVER.
