Regular 137 Lansing, Michigan | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Woke up this morning to the radio trying to gently coax me from the bed. Tired.... Not as tired as during the day yesterday, but tired nonetheless. I made the executive decision to set the alarm for another hour.... and then another hour when it went off again... 9am CST, time to finally get out of bed, get my good mornings from the dogs, then some coffee, then some more coffee, body's awake now (or at least the parts that want to lose a little extra easy weight). Take out the trash and recycling... It must be a good sign that four adults (and two dogs) only fill one kitchen size trash bag per week (we do fill the plastic glass bin and paper bin), the rest of our "trash" is in the compost pile in the back yard (a testament to eating good foods!). 10am CST, finished watching some news, sports center, and HGTV. Mostly of that hour was spent looking at paniers for my bike (I wear a backpack to commute, but would like some bags for bike camping) and eating breakfast (banana, soy milk, wheaties, two cups of coffee). Time to get some reading in for research-related things for grad school... I'm thinking today will be a nice day of working the mind and giving the body the day off. I think my legs have earned a rest. The last day of no work/exercise that they have had was the 12th of August (when they were driving my truck from Austin, TX to Columbia, MO). I have a gut feeling that this Monday's weigh in won't be amazingly kind to me. With my new roommates comes good beer. IPA's siren call is one that is often times unrelenting and irresistible. Old Rasputin's husky voice and icy stare from the bottom of the beer fridge are usually all the convincing that I need to unsheathe a frosty pint glass from the freezer door's icy tomb. I might need to do another "bet" with Cam to keep me out of trouble for a week or so. I can do it without a bet. ......***"Channeling self-restraint***.... I haven't been eating terrible. Mostly because it is hard to find a pre-made box of terrible that I can thrown in the microwave. Albeit, the chicken/broccoli and butternut squash/garbanzo bean/broccoli curries were prep intensive and probably not the best thing for me (I like to make things from scratch if I'm feeling spunky), however, I did manage to only use butter in the butternut curry (and used brown rice instead of white). Either I'm procrastinating or I'm easily distra... SQUIRREL! |

He wanted me to post to let folks know why he can't be tracked. See, he is trainable |

Here's to an OLY and maybe HIM in 2012. Ok, maybe a bit early to jump on that boat. I'll focus on the marathon in December. |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Out of town this week and the scale that I have access to is questionable so I haven't stepped on it. Will step on the scale at home next week when I get home. Worked out each day - Monday was 32 minutes, Tues-Saturday was an hour each day and then yesterday was a 6.82 mile walk in 2 hours. Worst of my eating was 2 slices of pizza last night for dinner but other than that - lean meats and veggies. Hoping it is paying off but my pants feel GREAT yet so that is hopeful.
Happy Monday!

Expert 1128 Boston | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Hi everyone. Had a great weekend of training at the beach. Riding and running. Even went out to eat 2 days in a row. I made some good choices and while I didn't lose any weight (according to the scale anyway) i am holding steady! YAY! At this point the scale is a poor indication of how I am doing. Better would be measurements but I find I am just too lazy. I use the mirror instead and gauge how my clothes fit. |

Master 1480 Southwest Chicago 'burbs | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Hello and good morning, everyone! Since today FEELS like Monday, I'm using today's weight for my weigh-in, since it's kinder to me than yesterdays. I think I'm about back where I started? Maybe a smidge lower? I'm at 144.4 today... happy to see it headed in the right direction. Of course, my roommate went grocery shopping last night and came home with a BOUNTY of bad food. Ironically, she's also my personal trainer, but one of those people who can eat ANYTHING and stay in shape and looking good. B*tch. (hee!) This weekend coming up will be my monthly measurement day. I'm curious to see if anything's changed... |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Hey everyone! Back from vacation and tapering for my HIM but my eating hasn't tapered at all!! Didn't really overeat or make bad food choices but I did drink a fair share of calories in the form of fruity cocktails and so while I haven't stepped on the scale - I was starting to fill out my bikini towards the end of my holiday so... I'll check tomorrow and hopefully I've just maintained eek! ceilidh - 2011-09-06 12:12 PM No change for me but some positive steps (I hope) Got a referral to an endocrinologist to hopefully get my thyroid in order. Good for you for getting it checked out! Back in the mid 90s I was packing on the weight, had no energy yet was exercising and eating healthy. My partner told me something was wrong with me and so I went and got checked out by my doctor. Turns out I had an underactive thyroid. Got me some drugs and slowly with exercise got back to a healthy weight. Finding the right balance can be really tricky. You have to be in tune with your body and watch for the symptoms and stay on top of it. Last year mine was all over the place and I think I was in for bloodwork every 6 weeks flip flopping between hypo and hyper. It's in balance now but I still fluctuate between feeling cold, winded and tired to being a hyper, sweaty eating machine. Sexy huh? I actually prefer the latter LOL Good luck with it and hope it all gets sorted out soon. |

Here's hoping for a maintain or maybe a loss! I would love to be the sweaty, hyper eating machine rather than the tired, slow, cold being that I am now! Hopefully we will get the dose right SOON! |

Master 2411 Goodyear, AZ | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Been MIA but catching up on reading the thread. I was thrown a loop when I found out my knee is injured per an MRI (bone contusion??) so no running for a few months, I haven't been cycling the past 2 weeks either just to completely rest it. At first I was kinda bummed but my knee hasn't felt right all summer, so it was time to take care of it. No cadio usually equals weight gain for me but this time I am curious to see what a clean diet and more ST/Yoga/Pilates will do for the body comp. My weight is up a bit after a long weekend vacation but I am hoping Sept will be a good month |

Master 2146 East Side of the Bay | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Congrats to those seeing the scale moving in the desired direction. Like many of you I am holding steady. Currently in taper mode for my HIM on Sunday. My first. I am totally freaked out but have decided to just suck it up and do my best. Last year there were only 3 women in my AG (50-54) so I am trying to just be proud I am out there. I am racing with several BT friends so that is helping me a lot too. I am developing a eating and exercise plan for weight loss to begin next week when the racing season is over for me. Have a great day all! |
