Wasn't planning on riding yesterday, but I did anyway.  Decided to stick to a flat loop, but the winds were kicking today.  So much so that when I had a straight tailwind, I was able to get up to 38.7 mph...on the flats!!!

20 minute test today...uggghhh

Good luck on the test.....  indoors or out?

Fred D - 2012-08-09 1:59 PM  I'm riding the first 30' easy and then going to put it into higher gear thereafter. What swim time are you thinking, I'm hoping 1:10ish myself.

55-57 mins.  My dream is that I find a pack of 6-8 swimmers that can swim 55 mins and I will tag along for the ride.

Now THAT'S more like it!

I can't sandbag the swim, it's the only weapon in my arsenal!

I think I found my new bumper sticker!  My worst pre-race nightmare is waking up on race day to a canceled swim.

Good luck to all of you racing this weekend! I'll be putting your bib #'s in my Irontrac app so I can follow your progress.

Outdoors...on a hill climb, on my road bike.  So the numbers will be inflated, but for the purposes of my A race which is a hill mountain climb.    Shooting to start out at 315, and see if I can hold on for dear life.  Last year's test around this time was 301.

TSimone - 2012-08-09 8:54 AM Just read IMNYC swim might be cancelled due to sewage. Nasty...

I just saw that.  Well, luckily there is a strong current in the Hudson right?  I mean, they were saying that even the noodlers should be able to float 1:10 on this "swim".  So hopefully that means the sewage will have washed out by then.

I just got a call from the lady running the run special needs team. I get to help the runners get their stuff out of their bags.

I have to think of all kinds of motivational things to say to them.

I have to practice saying it with sympathy and not "you signed up for this sucker"

We are at half way through the run apparently. I start at 12:30. They expect the pros around 3ish.

. It's one of many reasons that I wouldn't do this event, but I do hate the negativity for tose who already are signed up, let's wait and see what happens.

Well said, Fred. I have found it strange all year how so many folks seem to want this particular race to be a failure. The outright giddiness expressed by some about the potential for a cancelled swim is bizarre.

Oh, and Elaine - way to sit our buddy down in that other thread.

Thanks for that - never knew Irontrac existed - downloaded. If it works as advertised, that should be a buck well spent.  I always thought it was too bad RaceDayTracker didn't make it, and I still love the "watching" threads...

FYI, Rusty, Irontrac is NOT perfect.  I started using it at Oceanside, their first race.  They keep getting better, so they're reading the comments.  You can't look up racers until about 4-6 hours before the start.  And they don't always update all the splits.  I'd say it's well worth the $1, but $2 would pushing it.Wink  I guess it's like Ironman Live on your mobile.

Yes, that was a smackdown.  And FWIW I'd do IMNYC.  I've missed the hate threads on it, though.  What's the motivation behind it?  Just hate on NYC?

I'd do LP, probably not NYC though.  But there's more reasons than the Hudson for that.

Aero wheels?  Saw that one and you're exactly right.  I tend to post once in a TT topic then never look back.  The rare occasion is if the OP has a follow up question.

I'm surprised I didn't get a warning for calling out another poster.

If I was a moderator, I would have gave you a warning...but only after I stopped laughing.

We have a couple mods on this thread.  They can discipline me.
