So far nothing showing up.4agoodlife - 2013-02-12 12:47 PM Well, I was all ready to go to gym when DH "ordered" me to stay home. There's been a bomb threat at his work and families of management are at risk. Eeeek!!! Be careful! I remember living in the UK and my parents were away, just me at home one day with the dog, the police knocked on the door and said you gotta get out now. i was in my robe not a stitch under it, I grabbed the dog and off we went - apparently a bomb scare a few doors down where some Irish students lived. Turned out to be nothing - it was before cell phones so I was just plain scared on my own! |

Veteran 416 Cleveland, Tennessee | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED I want to apologize for not giving anything productive in the way of conversation. Between work, training and class I am able to hit the forum once, maybe twice a day. I do catch up almost every night as I am eating dinner around 9pm. I wanted to share this awesome little tid bit from my Masters Class tonight. I started swimming with my Masters Class in August or September. I was just barely making the preferred cut-off of 2:00 per 100. Through a lot of suggestions and help from the group I was able to do a 3k pool swim averaging 1:52 per 100. I have been occasionally working on flip turns and improving aspects of my stroke. Tonight I was able to hit several flip turns, including in the shallow end, and I was pulling 100yd/M swims at 1:35-1:40 when we hit those in the work out. I was also able to do about 85-90% of the workout. During the week they normally swim about 3500, I hit 3050 tonight and felt really good about it. I am hoping that one of the guys will bring his camera in again so I can get another video for critique from the pod. I think this is some incredible improvements over the past year as last June I could barely swim 600 in 45 minutes. One older gentleman last June was helping me and I had trouble doing a 250 as a warm-up, tonight the warm-up was a 750. I am amazed at how much doing/training for triathlons has changed my life. I am also going to start another streak today but modify it a little. Instead of 30 runs in 30 days I am going to make it 30 continuous days of at least 1 workout a day. I think that may make it a little easier and more manageable. |

Last weekend I did 48 miles in 3.5 hours, this weekend I did 49 miles in 4 hours but half of that was spinning on the drainer. I have plenty more T.I.T.S. between now and then to keep working on bike fitness so I should be fine. You will do fine on the bike. You have been getting your rides in. You cannot compare trainer speed with outdoor speed and you know that comparing the speed that you get in the winter time on your routes at home to the speeds that you'll have in the spring during a race is just not gonna be be accurate. YOU WILL DO GREAT! If you have a chance to drive the course before you ride it, I think that will help. Not just with visualization but also, "Oh, orange grove on the right. I am almost to the next turn." I know that I will never remember the bottle exchanges so I put a sticker on my aero bottle with the mileage info. |

Unfortunately I will not be able to pre-drive the course as the majority of it is on Camp Pendleton. I'm trying to underestimate the altitude benefit I will gain. Tell me more about the sticker on the bottle. Is that to remind you where the bottle exchanges are? How do you apply the sticker so that you can see it? |

Cool idea. There are "only" 3 aid stations on the bike at Oceanside. I don't see any description of bottle exchanges other than those. They are at about 15, 25ish & 45ish |

There is a huge difference in a 2:00 per 100 / yd and a 1:40. 1:40 avg per 100 will put you in the back of the FOP at any IM swim (for age groupers). Great job...keep up the good work and post that video when you get a chance. |
