Thanks for all the nutrition info guys and gals.  I have a good game plan for my long ride next weekend and we'll see how that goes.

Right now it will be a couple 525 cal bottles supplemented with a cliff bar or two and some gels to change up the pace.  That should give me the option of taking in 1600 to 1800 calories over the 6 hr period.  Then the run will be primarily off the course...gels and sports drink with a little something special in SN if needed.

On a side note, had lunch with Fatty yesterday.  Can't wait till Nov 5 to meet up with other people from BT and the MG!  So far I am thinking Me, Chris, John, Linda, and Tobey?  Anyone else making the trip to PCB?

Good plan Barry.

How did John look? Was he all dressed up? Oh I am sooo jealous. H  is such a hottie.

Glad you're feeling good about the nutrition.  Saw some others mentioned a coke.  I had one in my special needs run bag.  Took a cold one, put it in a ziplock bag with ice, then put that in another ziplock bag.  Was nice getting a cold coke mid-way through.

Looking forward to seeing you cross that finish line - only catching from 6-9, so I'll get there early to see you!

We're off to Minocqua for a few days...but before I leave, any thoughts on the BIG race this weekend?  any picks? favorites people want to throw out there?  who will be watching?

I would really like to see Lieto win this year. I would also like to see a head to head down to the 1m mark between the Queen and Rinny or a totally new chick win......

Don't know why, but I am very excited about this years race.  Have no favorites, just hoping to see some stellar performances.

I am here to report that although that we have seen a lot of "CELEBS (pro triathletes)" RP and I got passed by Dave Scott today out on a run on Ali'i drive....

Best part is that he passed up not once, but 2x... GOING THE SAME DIRECTION!!! He must have been doing a couple loops or something.....

I should mention in order to protect RP'S manhood that it was ENTIRELY MY FAULT.... I was setting the "Pace"

What to wear, what to wear?   I have a charity bike ride tomorrow with just the chicks so no hammering involved.  But is has been in the 40's in the morning with the afternoons in the mid 70's.  What do I wear?   I am okay with the layers on the top but can't make up my mind about my legs.  I have a pair of leg warmers but haven't really worn them.  Anyone have any experience with those?  And remember you are talking to the cold weather wimp of all time.

Leg or knee warmers. When you get warm, take 'em off and stuff them in a pocket.

I did a ride last weekend where the temp was 37F at the start and around 60F at the finish.  I wore tights, an Underarmour turtleneck, gloves and a light jacket.  If I had to do it over, I would have worn bike shorts with compression socks, the turtle and a bike jersey over it.  I got warm quickly.  Of course, I'm used to a lot cooler temps than you are.

dcon - 2011-10-06 9:58 PM Chrissie by at least 8 minutes.  Probably Lieto.

Based on reading the latest from the pro press conference, I think the women's field might have a little a wiggle room for someone new....Chrissie admits to still hurting, Dibens still has a foot issue...only Rinny seemed to be uninjured.  Will be interesting.

Come on Lieto!

Good luck to all the racers this weekend! Go Sam, Julia, and Dino!!!

I would love to see MY girl Linsey win. She is Montanan after all, not Canadian, Trevor   I still think Chrissie will be nearly impossible to beat, even injured, but you just never know. Lieto would be awesome, but I don't think it'll happen.  Can't wait to watch!

Wait, I thought she was MY Linsey...she is um...American after all!  I think Chrissie is indeed in a different class but another wild card is Mary Beth Ellis, what a year!

Lieto...hmmm...would have to be a monster windy day out on the Queen K.  Expecting a terrific race tomorrow!

Should be packing for our trip to Oahu, we leave on Sunday!

Have a great weekend, everyone!  Aloha!

Nice pics George, haven't read your RR yet, took me by surprise with its quick delivery!

I'm enjoying a recovery week before my 2 peak weeks then 1 week taper (Noosa Triathlon 30 October).

I'm using Joe Friels book - Your Best Triathlon - to try to adapt my injury-ridden training into a structured Oly program and his peak weeks look strong on brick sessions and race pace intervals but there's no long rides between now and the race.

Do you think my long rides through the Winter will surfice as endurance training or should I add a couple more 3hr+ rides???

I'm not happy with my running yet so I'll continue building for another week or so, swimming has gone well.

I am no pro so you can probably find better advice, but I don't think you need 3+ hour rides between now and your race.  I am not sure I have ever done a ride that long in prep for an Oly.  My guess is your base will carry you.  If you feel like you need a longer ride, 2 hours should be plenty.

Now that's funny!

Love the pics George!  From the way you talked before, I figured you had drool running down the side of your face just before the finish line.  You both do look pretty darn good!

So, what about those Brewers?   I don't really watch baseball or even follow it, but the restaurant/bar we were in tonight broke out in a loud cheer when they won in the 10th.  I saluted their victory with another pinecone!

Totally rooting for Beth and James Walsh! And run like a mother Rachel Ross, well, she's one hot mama! What about Caroline Steffen? Love her accent, she's pretty cool. My hopeful top ten finisher and olympic marathon trials qualifier, Tyler Stewart from SF...she and her hubby own a doggie wash and daycare close to my office! I love the name Tyler! Rinny and Dibs have been trash talking all week, hope they come up big!
