SSMinnow - 2009-01-18 7:42 PM Can you stand one more CT question?  I am looking at the basic PRO unit.  Is it easy to set up? how do you project the work outs?  My coach has a projector that shows it on a huge wall.  Will it work on the TV?

Very easy to set up.  The 3D software loads on your PC, that is how you do the courses.  If your computer has a TV out via S-Video, HDMI, or your TV has a VGA in, you can put it up on your TV.

I just have a spare PC with a 19 inch monitor that I use for it.  I did run it on my TV a few times.

You can also get scenery packs to load up which just give you more options to see as you ride, I believe out of the box it comes with Seattle, Arizona and one other scene, the add on packs add some varied locations.

There are also the ERG videos which everyone on Slowtwitch loves, they allow you to ride a course based on watts supposed to be really good workout but I haven't bought one yet.

Happy Monday everyone!

I figure most in the US are off today.  Had to come in today to prepare for tomorrow.  Innaguration is quite a big deal in this area, masses of people, security, etc.

Need to get back onto my Tri training plan, been good about running but not so good at the swimming and biking.

Sadly I am at work today. Tony, what was decided about you gettting to work tomorrow?  Can you work from home?  I remember you said something about all the roads being closed to your office.  I can't imagine how crazy things must be there right now.

Rob, it is funny to hear you talk about having to shovel the snow to get to work. Here in NC there is a chance for 4-6" tomorrow and everyone is already hitting the grocery stores and making preparations to be out of work tomorrow.  However, we don't get much snow, we get ICE which can be a very nasty.

I'm at work today too.  This weekend felt long as we were pretty much on the run the whole time with family here.  I got up at 5:00 am to go to spin class, got half dressed, decided otherwise and went back to bed for 2 hrs.  For me to sleep past 6:15 is very rare.

Tony, good luck with the mess that DC has to be this week.  When we were there, our cab driver on the way to the airport told us every hotel room was booked and people were renting thier homes out for 10-20k for 3 nights.

So, do you love or hate being in DC at this time?  I am sure it is a bit of a hassle, but the enthusiasm is really pretty amazing.  And even though I swing to the right, I would like to be there.

Can I ask what you do? or is it top secret ?

Suzy

Is something major going on down in DC this week? If so us canadians know nothing about it!! Cool

Just kidding of course,  it is an amazing piece of history that we are witnessing. Hopefully, he can turn things around for the US and in turn boost us up here as well.

Yeah I do emergency preparedness type stuff now so tomorrow is a big day for us.  I am riding my bike.  Tons and tons of tourists in town, Metro was packed yesterday with people having no idea where they were going.

This is more than usual but really I have been downtown during other big events, the Local authorities are pretty good at handling stuff like this.

Pretty quiet today though, no traffic on the roads at all, should be interesting if they get that 2-3 inches of snow that was predicted.

question, How do you know it is time for new tires on your bike?

If I change them my self, do I just take the tire off, then leave the tube inflated,
put the tube in the new tire and seat the tires then inflate the tube?

Do they look worn?  gashes in them, etc?  How many miles have you had them on the bike?

Deflate the tube, remove the old tire, remove the old tube.  Then attempt to get the new tire on one side, put the tube in, put a little air into the tube to help it keep form, then put the other side of the tire on the rim.  It is pretty easy just be careful not to pinch the tube between the rim and tire.

If you do a search on video bike tire change I bet you can find one that will show you step by step.  I do that for alot of my bike repair stuff, you would be surprised how much you can find.

Deflate your tubes, then replace the tires.... You shouldn't need to be too concerned about the tubes, but if you want to start fresh that is fine.  Keep in mind the 1st time you put new tires on.... IT IS TOUGH!  The tires are tight.  It can be done, it just takes muscles (I always ask my wife to do it for me !!!!).

That's why I recommend getting the tube out of the equation so it isn't on the rim when you (or your wife) are trying to muscle the new tire on

Hi all,

I've been gone for a while as life has gotten in the way!  Hopefully things are back to a bit of narmalcy, and I'll be around more.  I've been trying to catch up on all that I missed.  I saw that some people had posted their races for this year.  Does everyone have their races planned out already??  I've been working on my 'schedule' - I'll post it tomorrow, but I was just wondering what others were planning??  Keep up the good workouts!

Welcome back Karen!

I have three A races in my '09 plan thus far and will fill in a few more spontaneously based on what my friends are doing or our free weekends.  My focus until mid April is Boston and after that it is all about triathlons.  Doing my first Olympic and 1/2IM this summer.

Good luck putting your plan together.

Tony... I love it... You still have time for BT today!  It looks cold there.  I have been watching a little bit on-line at work, while trying to figure out my new Blackberry.... Technology sucks sometimes.  Things aren't so easy, but when it finally works properly... It is nice!!!  I am digging Facebook on the phone as well !!!!

Facebook is blocked at work, so my phone is the only way I could check it if I were so inclined.  I think I might be up for a Blackberry when my current contract is up - I think next month.

I used to have a blackberry at my previous employer but it was so old I had to put coal in it to fire it up each morning
