Got a decent bike commute in yesterday. Today is run and swim. Checking the plan shows 3k straight swim, that should be interesting. Will have to get the sport-count watch out so I don't loose track of laps somewhere in the middle.

Artemis - 2009-05-08 6:16 AM Last night got a little crazy with the marathon meeting, so I didn't run.  I did get up early and run today.  Going to do more PT after work.

So how did the meeting end up with the spouse? He sign up for the full as well?

Hope you found something tasty.  We went to the local mexican joint.  Very good, but my afternoon workout will suffer

When I'm doing a straight set I will count each 500, that way I'm only counting to ten, and then I keep track of how many 500s I've done.

Sounds like a fun swim.  Enjoy!

Depending on the weather I should have a long ride, a long run a normal run and maybe *drum rolls* my first OWS in my wetsuit ... This is a bit scary

I bet your water is still pretty cold there too.  good times

It should be around 60-62 I would say ... not too sure how cold this is witha wetsuit

He's convinced he wants to do it and is willing to drop down to the half if he gets hurt or doesn't keep up with the training.  I figure that's good enough.

We haven't signed up yet, but we will this weekend.  They encouraged everyone to do it online so there wasn't a chance of lost paperwork.

Went to Subway and got a club.  Ate that with some grapefruit from home.

I think this was about the water temperature for my OWS this last Sunday. I wore a full wetsuit, neoprene hood, and booties. I was surprised at how OK it was. Last year for my first tri the water temp was similar and I completely lost it when I put my face in the water. This time it was not a problem.

I would wear a neoprene hat if you have one.  If not, wear two or three swim caps.  It makes it feel a lot warmer.

X3 on the cap idea.  My race next weekend the average temp the past few years has been 60 degrees.  Thankfully its only a 400 yd swim.

Agree as well - full suit and hoodie if you can get one. The Oceanside HIM in April was 59 water temp. I was really worried about that as I'm a cold water wuss. But, with a full wetsuit and neoprene hood I was very comfortable which surprised me.  I didn't seem to go through that first 5 minute shock of cold water on my face/head.

Woo hoo! Swim and run both done for the day. Taking my son to t-ball tonight and the wife is going out with friends, so figured if I waited until later tonight I'd end up being tired and bag the run.

Forgot my watch in the car for the swim. Only lost count 2 times in 60 laps, though. Was an interesting swim. My goggles fogged up on lap 5.  Just kept going with limited visibility and it sort of put me into a rhythm/zone. The hour went by really fast and with the exception of sprinting the last 2 laps was on cruise mode.
