Subject: RE: Tan #86 - I told you so... meherczeg - 2009-11-17 9:18 AM wurkit_gurl - 2009-11-17 9:04 AM Hi TAN. I'm officially in running jail for 6 to 12 weeks. No Shamrock Half Marathon, and MCM is probably a bad idea this year, as well what did the bone scan say? No fracture, thankfully, but apparently, the medial shin (interior) on my left leg is very aggravated (ie, stress reaction) because it's been overloaded. The shin bump is definitely there, and probably a reaction to the reaction, if that makes sense. I am guessing that the orthotics that were way too stiff and rigid for a foot that did not need that support compounded what was already a bone that has taken more of the brunt because it's the stronger leg (thanks to the pelvic tilt thing I have). Plus, the orthotic was causing that foot to slightly supinate - like taking a chicken bone and bending it to the outside, eventually, it'll snap. So Shamrock is out, and most likely MCM 2010 too. Not enough time to build up safely to start that kind of training. I am hoping that it will be closer to 6 weeks off and not 12. I'm allowed to do anything but run, and nothing that's too "lunge-y", so squat-lunges are out, at least on one side (which I'm supposed to do to strengthen my hammies). And I recently found out that the backstabbing wh0re is getting married this weekend - I REALLY need to go drink somewhere after everything... Edited by wurkit_gurl 2009-11-17 8:25 AM |

Champion 34263 Chicago | Subject: RE: Tan #86 - I told you so... So on Saturday after my ART appointment I decided to walk home, blow the rust out of the legs and enjoy some new (to me) Chicago neighborhoods. It's about an eight- to 10-mile walk but I figured it was nice and such so what the hay. About three-fourths of the way home I couldn't walk. It started with a little knee pain, the turned into severe knee pain then the inability to even bend my knee without severe shooting pain. Anyway I iced it and didn't stress it too much Saturday and even took some IB, which I'm scared of because of JD's buzzin' in my ear. The pain went away. Last night on the dreadmill I decided to do a quick, short 7-miler. All was good until about mile 4.5 and the same pain in the same place on the same knee started up again. And again walking home because a challenge. So I went home and iced it and took some IB and chilled. This morning it doesn't feel much better. Anyway I have an ART appointment tonight so I'm going to talk to the doc about it. I really hope it's just an inflamed muscle on my knee, which I think it is, and a little rest will make it go away. It's funny. I expected the pain a week earlier. |

I think running 7:30s and faster this close after the ironman wasn't my wisest choice. But I felt good, mostly. I just hope the doc says `No running for a week, ice and stretch.' and I'll be good to go for Vegas. Otherwise I'll be getting drunk there THREE nights in a row instead of two. |

Hehe, I know - actually, I came in a little early today, since the ortho's office is right near mine - was pointless to go home and then come back. Yes, I am serious about coming down - give me a ring tonight or shoot me a PM/email. Got bible study til 9, but around after that. |

I can't fix stupid. Well I try, but it rarely works. Comma use is tricky b/c there are places where it MIGHT be "fine", but it could also be construed as excessive. There is a woman here who loves the comma like it's her job. Incorrect apostrophe use is never acceptable. I think I might start a side job of editing papers and such for lazy high school and college kids who want to pay me to tell them if they suck at writing. Might be decent cash for the interim while I find other stuff. There have got to be kids who surf Craigslist for just such a thing. |
