sdbryant - 2008-03-13 8:58 PM If you're talking about resting heart rate, I do check mine a few mornings each week when I wake up. If it starts to elevate, then I need an extra rest day. It's typically in the low 50s when I wake. When I'm just sitting at my desk at work it's around 62. What I really need to find out is my true AT and Max HR. But the tests sound brutal, so I think I'll wait! :-)

I've never done a real one either.  The only ones I've done are the tests on my own.  A real test is done with a doctor.  They hook you up to all sorts of machines and then measure the amount of CO2 and other things that you are exhaling during intense work.  I just found out that the University here in town does them for pretty cheap!  You might want to check out PSU to see if they do them as well.

mac3116 - 2008-03-14 7:24 AM this morning i was at 44 RHR you dont want to do a AT test which one are you talking about . or i guess what do you have to do .cause a while back i was gonna go to the National Training Center here in fl to have my Vo2 tested for its max . then i found a chart where you can do it off a 10k . and it was to be close without the cost . the only thing is you have to not only run the 10k but RUN like the fastest you can go . at that time i did like a 45min and then my vo2 was like a 7:30 pace then you can train at it or under that pace to improve your vo2 and it think it has really worked i should do it again to see but i will take a look around and see if i can find it again but it was only for running cause we all know its diff. for all 3 sports

Good point, Shaun.  Yes, it is different for all three sports.

I had a great run this morning! I did 4+ miles for the first time ever and still improved my pace over Tuesday's 3.7 miler. My running is feeling great right now.

I expect to get out for another run with my daughter tomorrow morning. Hopefully I'll be able to go for a nice bike ride afterwards.

Can I have some of your running mojo?  Great job this morning!  You've gotta feel on top of the world with all of your awesome training lately!

MDHillSlug - 2008-03-13 6:21 PM RHR=Resting Heart Rate? Mine's in the middle 40's. Before I started biking, running and swimming it was in the low 60's.

Wow!!! That's low for a girl!!! Even your unfit state was low! Good for you!!!

I had some outpatient surgery last year and they were concerned about my low blood pressure as I was laying in the bed waiting to be wheeled away. I had to tell them about all my training, etc. Even my GP had to be reminded at my last checkup. I've got my running/HR data on my Palm and hauled it out to show her.

I managed to get a little run in on the treadmill.  I kept it pretty mellow.  My shins were hurting really bad.  It felt really good to run again, though!  I had a good meal last night.  I got lots of quality sleep last night, too.  I think I'm starting to head back up the other side.  In the morning (if it isn't dumping buckets) I'm going to meet with the girls for a bike ride.  That'll be fun!

tracy the swim was hell !! the water is not clear but you can see a few feet on a calm day but not yesterday it was black . if i couldnt see the houses out the left side i would have guess i was going backwards . but the alantic should be a bit more clear although the swim is in one of the bays but it is starting at 7 so it could be alittle dark still . we shall see

funny thing i was in the hospital one time about 2 years ago and they had me hooked up and when i was sleeping the thing kept going off and they would run in and check on me . when i asked why they were coming in and why the alarm was going off they said it would when the heart rate would hit 40 or less . so when they rotated shfts and it went off i had a total hottie nurse come in . so me being me when i would get bored i would hold my breath to lower my heart rate the buzzer would go off and she would come running . then she would talk for awhile i kept her busy all of her shift . heck it made the night go by for both of us i just wish they would have not put a g-ma to replace her

Kane is beat too i was gonna take him to the pasta party but now he dont even feel like going he is comming off a all nighter flight from CA so im glad he is tied too

My ride today turned into a minor adventure. I found a new route on Bikely.com that was the right distance and went into an area I hadn't ridden before. So, I'm cruising along looking for a left turn at 11.5 miles. I get there and there is no left turn. I can see where it used to be before the construction took it away. Since I didn't know the area I decided to go back to the main road and ride on a bit further and then turn around for an out and back ride. It was a bit weird to be riding along knowing how to get back home the way I came but not actually knowing where I was.

Before my ride I did a short run with my daughter. When we got done I got ready for my ride. I figured my running tights were perfect for the ride weather, so off I go. It wasn't until I was back home getting ready for my shower that I realized I had not put on bike shorts. Since I didn't really notice, I guess that means my saddle is pretty good for me.

Nice job Shaun! Check out those mad abs in the run photo!!!

I probably won't get a chance to fill out the race report from my 8k Shamrock Run until tomorrow, but I'll try to get some photos up. It's the first time I've ran more than 2.5 miles since the half marathon. The knee didn't feel all that great, but I took it nice and easy and was able to finish really strong. My friend, Nadine, was having a rough day so every time she had to stop I stopped with her so that we could finish together. Oh, we did it in costume too since I have crazy tutu-making skillz. :-) My flashing shamrock nipples were a huge hit!

The costume was hilarious!  Great job!

I ran a race over Halloween and I got passed by a man wearing a wedding dress!  He was holding his dress up so he wouldn't trip over it!  The tutu idea is much more runner friendly!
