Rode the trainer....don't ever feel the need to repeat, just sayin' that I don't know how you all do this on a regular basis.  Maybe there's a trick I'm missing.  Other than the teenager on the bed covering his head with a pillow, piling on blankets (I had the AC CRANKED and it helped!!) and asking 'how much longer?' every 15 minutes!

It was nice to not wear a helmet.  Is that bad?

3.5 hours plus a couple of 'take care of the kid' breaks.  Can I claim 100 miles?!?

Hi Linda,

First of all, glad to hear things are working out with you son's injuries.  Sounds like one scary experience.

You did 3.5 hours your first time on the trainer?  Wow and Ouch!!  My buns hurt just thinking about that.   I moved my bike inside onto the trainer a few days back and did an hour ride yesterday...even that hurt.   I guess you did at least 100 km, but not 100 miles.

Good on you for 3.5hrs. No way I could do that. In the depths of winter here, I think the longest I did was 2.5hrs.

IMC will be a community spot. They open on Oct 31. FATTY and I are going to sign up.

Great job, Linda! I think 3.5 hours is pretty amazing for the first time on a trainer. Trevor, congrats on the decision. I think. Hi Dan! Roni, your grandson is precious! Oh, so John is doing two IM's in 2012? Hardcore.

Got to the lake @ 6:45 AM and swam 1915 yds in 62 degree F water with 5 other hardy souls. What a great way to wake up!

I passed 300,000 yds for the year with this swim! Hoping for 368K+ so that I can more than double last years total.

Linda: 3.5 hours on your first ride on a trainer is hard core! I have to plan the long rides, e.g., arrange my towel, water, nutrition, and most importantly entertainment.

Good race today.  Couple of hard crashes in the prologue pushed me back a few spots but gained them back and then a few more.  LOL, first race all year I haven't hit the deck so very happy with that.  Ended up 38th out of 120ish.  Need to do more V02 max workouts to get faster.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I already know what they are going to do.  Win just enough to not get a top 3 draft pick.  Come on man 6-3 loss?  Is that a baseball score?

Did a short swim this morning, in a very short pool!  Gotta wonder how much good it's really doing for my swim fitness - but it least it's giving me my chlorine smell fix.

Ty gets a cast on today, and I meet Johanne to drop off my bike.  She raced SOMA HIM yesterday...finished the run in 97 degree heat.  Argh.  Really hoping AZ cools off in the next month!

REALLY hoping that the doc sticks with his 'mom-going-home-on-Wednesday' opinion today.  This hotel room is getting smaller by the day!  That and I haven't seen Jeff for 2 weeks - longer than we've been apart in 26 years.  Not good.

Any suggestions for how to handle the pain meds when I'm gone?  I'm really worried about leaving them in a dorm room.  Theft is rampant, and kids have already asked him what he's got for pain.  He REALLY will need the meds for a while, and he's been really good at tracking when he can take them, but I'm afraid that will all fall apart when I'm gone - and some will 'disappear'.  Any suggestions?  Doc thought of writing small prescriptions that can be refilled often, but Ty won't have a car, and will be dependant on rides to the pharmacy.  I can't come up with anything better, though.  Maybe me filling it at home, and shipping it every 3 days?

Linda--nice job hanging in there.  You really have to worry about college kids stealing pills?  WOW, I am so out of the kid scene.  What about having the person in charge of the dorm floor dolling them out?

Good idea, Suzy, but I think he's just an older student - not sure.  Worth looking into though.

Yeah, it's kinda mind-numbing how rampant theft is,  especially of small electronics and prescription drugs.

Can the infirmary help out? Bring the meds to them for safe keeping and then go there for the daily doses. Just a suggestion. Otherwise find something to keep in Ty's room to lock them up in.
