No racing for me... have switched into running focus mode (still plan on swimming and biking 2x a week) for my next event in a couple of weeks. Makes me remember how crazy I think all you ex-runners really are. This running only stuff is fun?  Hell, in the sports I grew up playing, running was the coaches punishment for lack of performance! My Bike bag= Tire tools (2), new spare tube, old piece of tire, CO cartridges (2), CO filler, Multi-tool, patch kit, $20.00 bill, Pestra valve adapter, kitchen sink, spare dog treats, clean underwear in case I get a bike accident (Mom trained me well), empty beer can, old pizza box, turtle leash for my run, etc. Good Luck to all you racers this weekend! I'll kick it off....am doing another aquathon tomorrow night, well sort of...because of this honking big workout over the weekend Coach Steve has asked me to skip the 5K part, so basically racing a 1000m swim. It's the most important part to me anyway. It's in the biggest lake in Madison so great practice for IM. Goal is to stay calm, be efficient and hold my line the best i can. Good luck, Suzy! Not racing...but just signed up last night for a "swim a mile for women with cancer" event to be held in October. My piano teacher of all people called me last night and asked me to do it with her, she was so excited, how could I refuse??? She somehow thinks I am a great swimmer because I do triathlons. Hmm. I'm looking forward to doing a fun swim for a good cause! Dragon Boat races and I saw tons of triathletes walking around in all of their spandex...even just walking their dogs and having a picnic (in tri clothes!). It was kind of odd, I know there was a race that weekend, but don't most of you guys change as soon as possible? Just wondering. Actually, it was super odd! I felt guilty by association! LOL for someone who doesn't travel much for work I sure have done a lot of it lately. Sam and I are racing this weekend, Ft. Ritchie Olympic. Never done a swim where you get out of the water and run along the beach and jump back in, any difference in that? Going to try something a bit different this time, instead of jumping on the bike and going 100% going to try for 3-5 minutes to keep it in Power zone 1 or 2 (similar to HR 1/2) then go. Will do the same thing on the run, trying to see if that helps me get everything calmed back down first. |
