Nutrition is a tricky beast and what will work well for one person sucks azz for someone else.

Infinite will never again be anything I will ever ingest... ever.  Did I say ever?  Cuz I mean ever.

However, for ME this is due to the fact that my stomach hates the stuff and will do anything possible to get rid of it after a certain amount of time.  I trained with it on a few longer rides leading up to IMAZ last year and didn't have any real issues, but the day of the race went to hell in a handbasket and after the first loop (of three) on the bike course I couldn't keep anything down.

I know quite a number of people that will use Infinite for their sole nutrition for the bike - and I *think* each of them got a custom blend according to the length of their training days and races. Their customer service is also pretty good and you can give them a call to chat about what you might need in terms of customizing.

Yup.

I am a little biased towards PowerBar products but I ultimately chose them because if I am going to use gels/bars/etc. I like theirs the best. The gels are much less thick than other products, which I really appreciate. Plus the new fruit blends are AMAZING.

Mostly though, I could pretty much eat anything except jalapenos, black licorice and I am really not very fond of lemon/lime Gatorade which they seem to have on EVERY course ever. I think it tastes like bile.

I can't STAND licorice... of any kind.  Which also means no shots of ouzo, sambuca, no absinthe, no jagermeister... and I'm okay with that - just give me shots of tequila instead.

The only way I will shoot tequila is with a chaser of pickle juice (with a few drops of hot sauce) mmmmm

Pickle juice?!  Who was the first person to think, "you know what would be a good idea, tequila and pickle juice.  Yeah, that'll be great, gotta get me some." ?

For comparison, our pool today was 73F. It was cold for the first 200y or so, but then okay. So my opinion is that 70F would be my limit without. Much below that and I am not sure I would ever warm up.

I'm going to take my wetsuit and see what it is like during the pre-swim on Friday.  It might be ok.  It's only 750.  I can always double up on caps, which helps me stay pretty warm.

I think I'll skip the pickle juice. I'm also considering Paleo for Athletes. I dunno why I'm set on changing everything I know and trust 12 weeks out from an 70.3 but I am. I really want to lost these last 20 pounds and I can't seem to do it with my current nutrition.

Extreme changes are harder to make.  Is there one or 2 things in your current calorie intake that you could change?  I think you would have a better chance of success if you take on small vs big changes.

Also - are you tracking calories in vs calories out?  "My Fitness Pal" is a great FREE calorie counter.  It worked wonders for me.

I'm not a believer in crazy diets (My opinion).  Either burn more calories, or put less in.  The last 20 lbs should drop off.  (I know there can be exceptions)

A calorie deficit of approximately 500 calories per day should equal about 1 lb per week of weight loss.  I found that sometimes, it was hard to actually eat the # of calories recommended, and I would have greater deficits than 500 each day, but COUNTING THE CALORIES is the key.

Good Luck.

*All advice is based solely on what I have learned in my journey.  I am by no means an expert in the matter of weight loss.

I don't tolerate liquid calories that well so I go with solids.  For HIM and IM distances, I start with what they are offering on the course and work from there.

I know several people who swear by Infinite and if you tolerate liquid calories, give it a try!

If you are feeling out of energy on your long workouts, you might want to take a look at the number of calories per hour in addition to the products that you are using to ingest those calories.  It may be the total number that is the issue, not the product line.   Most people do well on 200-300 calories per hour on the bike and somewhat less on the run.  I've read 1.75-2.5 times your body weight per hour as a starting point for race day nutrition.  That being said, on training days when I have a three hour bike ride, tend to have considerably less than that.  The other things to consider are your fluid intake, sweat rate and electrolyte replacement.

Clearly they were thinking about electrolyte replacement!

Originally posted by JJ- I think I'll skip the pickle juice. I'm also considering Paleo for Athletes. I dunno why I'm set on changing everything I know and trust 12 weeks out from an 70.3 but I am. I really want to lost these last 20 pounds and I can't seem to do it with my current nutrition.

This leads me to believe that the answer to your Infinite question is the total number of calories per hour in addition to the products that you are using to ingest those calories.

EXACTLY What I thought of!  Switch - I think you may be the female version of me, or is it I that is the Male version of you?

Maybe I'm the androgynous version of me and you're the androgynous version of you--and that makes us similar? ;)

Or maybe I'm just a guy.  That's actually probably it. Lol.

ETA: Every time I see someone post "dp" some stupid sophomoric joke goes through my head.  I can't help it.

"Stupid Sophmoric joke" or a thoughts of excellent porno's? (Or bad porno depending on ones individual tastes)

Whoops - too much?

See, stuff like that doesn't bother me at all, and I think it's funny, but I know some don't so i try my best to pass it through a filter.  Some days that works better than others;

Yeah, I'm the woman in my avi.

Originally posted by JJ- Do any of you guys use Infinite Nutrition? I am currently using a mixture of Hammer products, gels, perpetuem, capsules, etc.... and feeling like I am running out of energy on my long workouts. Considering a custom blend from Infinite

Clearly they were thinking about electrolyte replacement!

My husband discovered sweet and spicy pickle juice in PBR--try a 1:10 ratio or so, if interested.  It is THE BEST post-run shower beer EVER!

Yeah, I'm the woman in my avi.

I have learned that in the Manatee's - there really is not TMI.  We have 2 pages of women talking about farting.  We have a page about burning diarrhea and we are long overdue for our latest round of sexual innuendo talk about women nibbling other womens body parts!

This is very much a group that I feel embraces our differences and respectfully disagrees from time to time.  I love being a Manatee!

Not to mention - I haven't watch a porno in a long time.  Off to remedy that problem now.  Have a great day!

And drink it in the shower. That'll bring it right on up to an 11
