I wonder how commonly understood the meaning behind that is? Very cool of you. I have been asked at races and it is a fun story to tell. Now that Chrisse Wellington is rolling at almost all her races it is becoming a much wider known in the tri community. I wonder how long before it is no longer allowed due to the safety of the racers behind you. I always double check to make sure I won't get in anybodies way. At a race earlier this year, the announcer as I was approaching the finishing line, announced my name and city and then said, " I wonder if we are gonna see the Blazeman roll?" Turns out the announcer was some well known guy from the Slowtwitch website, I can't remember who. So, I had to roll and got a big cheer from all the "fast" people that finished before me and then the announcer tells the abridged version of John's IM accomplishment over the PA! ![]() Thanks for the support, it is a great cause and a horrible disease if you ever know anybody that gets it. Nothing like becoming a prisoner in your own body! Dino |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey All..... Dino-love the roll and impressed by the fact you didn't cramp up doing it. Andy-feel like I haven't heard from you in forever! Good luck this weekend. All other racers, represent the MG and work it hard until the end! This racer opted out of her aquathon tonight. Yesterday's run was a doozy and I feel like I need to get to 110% before my Saturday "breaktrhough" workout. Plus the thought of a single shower was really appealing today. You know I must be in a reasonable place where the swim is concerned when I give up an opportunity to swim in the big boy lake. |

Man, it was so hard to watch my mom feeding her, laughing and crying with her. But my aunt had the BEST sense of humour, it was only at the end, when she couldn't even breathe on her own that she really couldn't go on. I sure do miss her. It is a terrible disease for all involved. Hopeful for a cure with people like Jeff and friends like you working hard out there! Kim |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was browsing through my emails and saw Terry Cycling was having a sale. So as I was shopping for new bike shorts I saw they had Maternity cycling shorts! I can't imagine anything more uncomfortable! It got me thinking, would you gals still ride if you were pregnant? Steve, is Kim still riding? From the looks of the model these were 3rd trimester shorts and I can't imagine fitting on a bike at that stage. I guess it would be different if it were a hybrid bike or something that sat much more vertical......So what did all the moms in our group do for exercise while pregnant? There is a VERY pregnant lady in my fitness class at the gym and I am always so impressed with her. Such motivation when I don't want to exercise and she is there working it! |

My docs said no to the(outdoor) bike... but I wasn't doing spin classes or anything at the time. But if I were preggers now, I think I would totally do indoor cycling classes. I did run up to about 8 mos. with Thing 1 -- then it started to be pretty uncomfortable (and my neighbors probably didn't appreciate me peeing in everyone's bushes, ha ha!). Had a very conservative doc with Thing 2 who didn't want me running, so I just took a forced break... and came back after daughter was born rarin' to go. My motivation was scary after not running for 9 months!! Ran a half mary 6 mos. after she was out, and 3 marathons the spring/summer immediately following her 1st birthday. I did walk a lot with 2nd pregnancy. Didn't belong to a gym or a pool during either of them, but wish I had! |

High risk pregnancies here ... (bedrest at 7 weeks with the first...later in preg with the other two) only exercise I could do was swim. I was not a pleasant sight in my speedo by the time I hit 6 months (even the black "slendarizing" suits were hideous). But I always admired (maybe a little envious of) those women that could "do it all". |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So my race this weekend was supposed to be my last "A" race of the year. Due to travel and such, pretty sure it's not going to be. So I think my plan is going to be not to screw up and try to remember to do everything (for once) that my coach and I have talked about and I have wanted to do. Swim: Start in the front row. Plain and simple. People swimming over me don't bother me. Me running into people does, starting in the front row should take care of most of that, as the faster swimmers will take off and pass me anyways. The races I have done this I have had better swims, seems simple enough but I seem to often get distracted and usually remember right around the time I run into the first pack of breast strokers that started in the front row. T1: Simple, no socks, leave shoes on bike, no rubber bands, I can slip my feet in as I go along. Run past the mount line and jump on. Dont' try to put shoes in, during the first 50 feet unless there is an easy opportunity to do so. Bike: Ride in Power Zone 1/2 for the first 5 minutes, make sure my HR gets down from the swim, Ease into it and ride appx 200Watts for the ride, make sure to drink from infinit every 10 mins or so, depending on the heat. T2: Nothing much here, I think my T2's have been good, I do a flying dismount and run through with bike, no socks so fast T2 Run: Take the first 3 minutes of the run to focus on form, get my HR down and legs into it. Want to run this in the 7's, which I should be able to do easily but just never seem to pull off a good run in a tri. Going to carry a Gel to take about 1/2 way through or earlier if needed. Any thoughts on that plan? |
