Awesome photo!!  It is so much fun to see pictures of everyone.  Can't wait to hear all the details!!!!  I wanna come visit y'all too!  And you know if any of the manatees end up in Seattle, I'm good for a playdate!

I didn't do the full 60 miles on my bike today, only around 40....but it was brutally tough and lots of fun. The extra 20 miles would have removed the fun from that last sentence.  Killer hills.  Naptime now.....

Hi Manatees!

Well, DD is successfully and officially a HS graduate!  I made 100 enchiladas and we had a marvelous party for her.

I had the most fantastic time being at home for 9 days, even if it did involve cleaning window sills

Got some good training in, and just really enjoyed being with my kids!

Here's a pic from ceremony

is she beautiful or what?  sorry, proud mom moment here

Proud mama indeed!  Glad it all went so well.

Yanti-great pics!!!

I managed a run this morning but not a whole lot else this weekend.  Lots of hubby time so that was good too!

Have a great short week everyone!

Congrats, Beth!  You must be bursting with pride!  Where is she going to college?

Nette--running is better than nothing, and sometimes hubby time really needs to happen!  I know I need to put in some time with mine one of these days!  He's been very patient with me, and as I am booked with mostly tri stuff every night this week, he is continuing to be good.

I hope everyone has a great week!  I figured out the remaining days of workouts up until my Oly.  I'd finished my 16 week plan ahead of time, but didn't think to just do the end of the plan again!  Duh.  My one brain cell is very tired!

Gang!! I only have a couple minutes to pop online, but two things:

1) Yanti is exactly as awesome as you think she is. I'd say she's more awesome, but I already suspected how awesome she was and I was not disappointed. She's gorgeous and has the best smile in the world and is goofy like crazy and has the most amazing laugh! If it sounds like I have a little crush, well...

2) Dolores is so cool. She came in from her monster bike ride ranting about all the lame-o's out on the rode and I liked her immediately.

I wish I'd had more time to hang out, but I'll get to see both of them again at Vineman in July, so woohoo!

PS: Beth! Congratulations!

Beth: Congrats to you and your daughter.  She is really pretty and looks so proud.

Today is my last day of vacation in the northwoods.  I am really glad I got in the lake yesterday to test the waters even though it was about 50F.  Today, I woke to 28F and frost on the ground.  CRAZY!

Have a great Monday Tuesday!

hello Manatees! I hope everyone is well.  Sorry I haven't been here lately...been really busy.  This weekend for me was really great - I got to meet Erin (see pic above) - she was visiting her family and made a pecial trip to meet up with Yanti who made an awesome lunch for us.   She was really nice and I look forward to seeing her in July when we go up her way for Vineman.  It was a ton of fun.

 Have a great week everyone.

I wondered what all of the cool kids were doing this weekend.  Looks like a great time was had by all.

And SUPER Congrats to Beth and her lovely (and super talented) DD.

You guys are mentors in more ways than just triathlon, with the way you are with you family and friends.  It sets a great example for us all to follow.  We are the ones blessed to call you friends.

Me, on the other hand,...well I put the FUN in dysfunctional.

Beth - congrats on your daughter's graduation! She's beautiful.

Yanti - thanks for sharing the pic. You all look great!

Well, I was definitely a "cool kid" this weekend ... I was on a mountain freezing! LOL This was taken atop Mount San Jacinto just outside of Palm Springs.

Even though the temps were cool, we had a great time. We spent all day Friday up on the mountain playing in the snow. We headed over to Joshua Tree on Saturday and spent all day playing in the desert. That's one of the things I like best (other than the weather) about living in southern California. In a single weekend you can go to the mountains, go to the desert, and go to the beach.

Hi everyone!

How cool that you guys got to meet, and what a great pic!  I should have thought to bring a camera to take a pic of Renee and me when we went for a ride!

Melissa - Love your smiling face in the snow - awesome!

Steve - you will always be one of the cool kids! (and thanks {blush})

Leslie - awesome that you figured out the rest of your workouts!

Nette - great job on the run!  you are a busy lady

Yanti! - nice to see you!!!  we need some words of wisdom about meditative breathing before swimming and swimming/breathing in a wet suit - not my area of expertise

Greetings Manatees. I've been a bit AWOL lately, but I'm hoping for a come back. I've been in a bit of a personal funk lately, but such is life.

Positive Thought of the Day: Even though I've had some "stuff" going on I've still be able to get my workouts in. Considering all of the physical issues I've been going through the past 7 months I think that's pretty darn good. I actually feel like I'm regaining some of the fitness that I lost.

I hope everyone is having a good day and I'm going to try and catch up on what everybody is up to.

Happy Wednesday everyone......

I have decided that my challenge is a semi bust.  And I have also decided I am ok with that.  I had one major food issue I was trying to deal with and I have been able to solve that one so I guess I will be a loser and a winner at the same time. YEAH me.

Did my first OWS class today.  There were only two of us that showed up (other lady was an IM who is swimming Alcatraz this summer) and we stayed in shallow water and got used to things like weeds, worked on rotation and high elbows.  Next week we are going to be swimming a rectangle course to get used to swimming in deep water, sighting and all that jazz.

It looks like people are getting their training in which is great to see.  How is everyone else doing on the challenge????

Hi All,

I've caught up as best I could.  Nice to see so much progress with training and to hear about all the cool "outside of triathlon life" things going on.  Everyone's pictures are fabulous.  It always brings a smile to my face to come around here.

My training is ramping up, but so is my illness, so, like we all must do, I'm trying to find the delicate balance between resting, training, mommying, volunteering, etc., etc., etc., which explains my BT absence of late.  I've been a rotten BT friend, but the good news is that I generally make up for that eventually .

Mila!  so good to *see* you too!  you crossed my mind many times today   I'm sorry things aren't all ramping up in a positive way - obviously, your family and your health must come before BT - we know you'll make it up to us or we'll have to pull out the cattle prod or the whip or something

We will be thinking of you! Hang in there!

I must admit, I'm getting a bit nervous for my upcoming tri - I will have had no OWS practice and will have only been on my bike 3 or 4 times b4 the race

I have some relatively good volume in - not anywhere near what the plan calls for, but way more than last year - soooooo

am I nuts??????

Well....YES YOU ARE...   Oh...you were asking about your race

You are going to be fine.  You are so right that you are in much better shape with the totals from this year compared to last.  And don't forget how much better you are running now,so that means that even if you struggle a little bit on the bike then you have a small cushion built in with the running base that you now have.

You are going to ROCK the RACE...after all...you are a MANATEE !!!

All your fabulous swim training will carry you through... just think of it as a crowded pool .  You've maintained a lot of bike fitness via indoor cycling classes.  Sure, it doesn't translate exactly the same way to road riding, but what's important on the bike is strength and endurance... speed is a bonus .  All three of those things are simulated in many'a'cycle class.  Oh, and just think of the progress you've made running because you haven't had all the proper equipment at your disposal!!

Above all else, you have your common sense, positive attitude and a sense of humor to get you through whatever race day brings.  You'll have a great day out there.

thanks Mila!  you are right, I will

a little note about the running - I just looked at my stats for last year - prior to the tri, I had only run 64 miles and change

this year to date I have 117 and change and I have 24 days before the race

wow - if anyone had ever told me I'd be able to accomplish that - well.........

Hello sports fans!

Beth, thanks for the kind words yesterday.

Positive Thought of the Day: I have a day off and I'm going to enjoy it. Well as much joy from sitting in an office can get you. BUT after that I'll go home and eat, watch both of my kids in the school play and then enjoy the Laker game. That's not a bad way to go.

Very un-Tri related, but that's how i'm rolling today!
