Just got a little nervous from reading the race is 5 months away. Can't believe it's about to be April.

Was reading on the iron distance training talk and was reported in a thread that Mike Reilly would be on the mic for Louisville. Don't know if this is going to be true or has been reported on here but thought I would add this info if you havnt seen it.

I'm tapering for New Orleans 70.3 so an easy swim and run tomorrow.  Although I've been hanging onto a stuffed up nose for almost a week so depending how I feel, the plan for tomorrow may change.

Mine isn't going the best. I am having some hip pain that I "think" might be IT band. I may lay low for a couple days and see if it heals up. So frustrating!

things are going well for me. I am doing a half in may. I am supposed to do all three tomorrow, according to my plan. Not keeping with my plan 100 percent but it is keeping me on a track. I hope your hip is nothing big moabrunner. I had an it band issue last season and it was tough. mine was lower in the knee.
good training everyone.

Checking in all... things are going well for me.  I had a TT yesterday (in the snow?...what the heck?) and will be tapering this week for my first marathon this weekend.  After that I'm back to my normal training schedule for several weeks before my first sprint tri of the year!  Loving life!  Hope everyone feels the same.

I am right on target. Still doing low volume about 11-12 hours/week. I will start ramping it up soon to 15-20 hours/week and hold there for a few weeks until it gets intense at 20-30 hours/week.

Hei! It might sound like a st%ip question... but it's acceptable to swim with a 'floating device' between your legs? I have never ever done a triathlon before.. and... I decided to sign up for IMKY. Now I realize my body is not 'swiming friendly'... and I cannot do more than 200 meters without the help of a 'floatie between my legs'... Does anyone know if this will be allow on race day? Thanks so mucho

No it will not be allowed!

Take some lessons and then hit the pool a few times a week. If you can start practicing the "right" things, you'll make progress quickly. I'm a lousy swimmer, but I know I can't blame it on my "body type". It's all my lousy technique. I made the mistake of thinking I could self-teach the technique thing, and ended up imprinting a bunch of BAD habits I'm still trying to get rid of.

Bernabe,

A good coach will go a long way. I have found that doing drills the correct way has helped me a ton. Your coach will be able to demonstrate the drills and get you on the right path. Be careful with that pull bouy(floatie thing) besides the extra stress it puts on your shoulders, it can hinder your progress. It's like swimming all the time with fins on. Fins are great for kick drills, but swimming lap after lap with them is counter productive. I see many people at our club doing this and once they remove the fins or pull bouy, they are lost. Good luck. I'm sure you will progress very quickly.

Just got back from the doctor and it is an IT band that is causing my hip pain. I will be doing rehab 2-3 times a week and got the ok to continue training as long as I can do it with no pain. At least it is nothing structural.

Hey fellow 2009 Ironman Louisvillers. Anyone know which gels/bars will be available on the run? I was just on the website, but I didn't see any info on the sponsors, etc. Thanks.

Two notes:

 1) My training is on plan....after doing IM the last two years, I'm not pressing the panic button until May....

2) I am the one who got the info on Mike Reilly.....it's true....he "told" me himself.....to divulge more would be compromising my method.....

Train Smart Folks.....no reason to overdo....it's still BASE season.......

Glad to hear it is not too major. any stumble is tough. Do what you can and safe training. Everyone keeps telling me stretch stretch stretch.
take care

Good luck everyone as your training starts. I had a blast with some of you last year, and am sure that you'll have the same this year. Anyone know what date the race will be in 2010? I was going to do IMFL next year, due to it being flat, after missing the bike cutoff last year at Lou (by seven mins, at least I was the FIRST person to miss the cutoff-still awaiting my prize for that). But I had such a good time, that I'm thinking I may just have to give Lou another crack.....

Enjoyed meeting you last year.  Man, I admire your attitude!  You're gonna go back and crush those hills next year!  I 'spect the race will be the 'last Sunday in August' but I doubt they've set a date yet.  They need to coordinate that with the city of Louisville and the (hopefully) coordinate with the University.

I am on the bench for a week.  shoulder are sore and knees too.  I know I just pulled some muscles in my shoulders last week.  they are just taking their time to heal.    Knees are another issue.  So I am going to heal and play it safe.

My training is going okay.  I've had a chest cold for a week now and my wife had our second kid on the 8th.  But I'll be ready come August.
