I"m only down 3 too....and yesterday I'm SURE is a weight gain. I drove up to the Steelers game, and with it being 25 degrees, I had to have a couple hot chocolates!

I did manage to get in a run though in the snow!

Another funny mom story from my blog today (I send my mom the friday abs pics each week), thought I would share:

Another "mom moment".....she calls me this morning...."Everyone at the gym & the trainers love your body!"  Me, "um mom what do you mean EVERYONE?"  She says, "well i was telling my trainer about your picture from this weekend and then he asked to see it.  So i took out the cell phone and showed him.  Then other people came over and wanted to see what we were looking at."  So I say, "So how many people have seen my latest pic at the gym?" Mom says, "Quite a few, at least 10 or more."

oh I'm trying not to celebrate!  you should have seen the food at the tailgate! all things considered, I was happy just to have hot chocolate.  Back on the band wagon...and I was doing so well.

Sheesh, how do people with season tickets do it?  I'd be broke and FAT!

OK all you veterans I have a question:

HTH do you kick a huge mental block about saying hey with all the working out I do what harm is 1 little 12 oz can of ice cold pepsi a day?  I am jonesing today and my good side is saying you make it through today you are golden and the bad side is saying look you work out about 10-11 hours a week total and you cannot enjoy 1 pop a day?

So what do you say to the bad side about that?

BTW: I snuck a mini candy cane to try and over come the pain of it all

I gave up soda a long time ago, but think of it this way........A 12 ounce can of regular Pepsi contains 41 grams of sugar. Those 41 grams of sugar are equal to to 9.19 teaspoons of refined sugar.  If you were to sit down and add sugar to anything you ate, would you really put in over 9 teaspoons!!??

Or read the ingredients on the can, how many of those ingredients can you pronounce?  And do you know what those are doing to your body?  Think of your body as an engine, use the proper fuel and the engine works well.

Just a few thoughts, I hope they help

Well, pop is not my problem, but I would handle this the same if it were a Pepsi, a Diet Pepsi, or any other "bad for you" food...Now this is just me, but personally, I worry a lot more about the health implications of those kinds of foods than about the calories. For me, it was a breakthrough to be more concerned about how healthy foods are instead of how fattening. For some reason, that clicked for me and makes me more satisfied with good choices! Again, this is just me, but this way of thinking also makes eating right long-term more do-able. I think it takes the focus off of will-power...Hope this helps!

Well, you can always look at it like knowing that the first 2-1/2 hours of your workout every day go to neutralizing your Pepsi.  That might do it for me, if I drank Pepsi instead of Diet Coke, which I don't drink any more because even Diet Coke is banned on the No Sugar Challenge.   But leaving aside the challenge, I would rather consume my workout calories on ice cream than diet soda.

Excellent day!  Well done - I didn't even manage a run yesterday once I had a look at the snow. Undecided

#1 question - Does this answer pertain to both of my posts - since I double posted on accident?

#2 Point - You are going for the scare tactic - like the new stop smoking commercials - I like it!

#3 Point - It worked - thanks!

YAY!!!!!!!  I like to think of it as "gross tactic" rather than scare

Bring lots of fruit to work. I often eat 5-7 servings of fruit a day...less calories than many things and so much better for my body. I tend to bring food with me everywhere I go so I can eat something healthy if I'm hungry out and about.

To the Y I bring fruit and after I shower up after my swim, I eat it...better than waiting until I get home as eating closer to your workout time helps your body restore glycogen.  Planning recovery food is for me like getting all the stuff I need together to do my workout.

My husband recently asked if I'll go back to drinking diet Pepsi after the challenge. I hope not as for Abbies reason's I don't think it is good for me. I only drink water, a bit of tea and sometimes tomato or V8 juice.

That's a really good way to think about it.

I've been doing ok without soda and diet soda, but I do miss it once in awhile.  We had pizza over the weekend and it was weird to drink water instead of a diet pepsi.  I'm getting more used to not having it, though, so hopefully I won't go back to all the soda I was drinking before.

I have been drinking unsweetened Iced Tea, and not had much of a problem letting go of soda. Although, I drank to much caffiene yesterday, and started to get crazy and bad feeling toward the end of the day. I have to mix in more water I guess.

Then again I could just be psychotic! I mean I gave up sugar wtf?

I'm down a pound to 187 that's 5# since the start. I was down on myself because of a crappy run my HR was sky high could not stay aerobic without walking. So when I jumped on the scale I figured the same result as the run, low and behold down 1, so it picked me up.

No dings what so ever, the kids had ice cream after dinner the night before not even an urge to take a bite. That's great because good kids deserve ice cream now and then, and my body deserves to be healthy to take care of them.

Let's keep up the great work!
